Leicester lions 2023 (PREMIERSHIP)

Not sure that he did "retire" - think I saw his name mentioned in a Russian league score a couple of years ago, and Sergei Darkin too! -

Back when Leicester had their first dabble with the top tier around ten years ago, I recall rumours circulating then about the Laguta brothers joining the team, which obviously came to nothing even if there was any substance to them. I wonder if the current undercurrent is just a recycling? -

I hear that a Leicester team will also be involved on Thursday and won't need to be propped-up with guests. Or is it just a rumour. -

Back in the early days of professional rugby union, the great tradition of the on-pitch mass brawl from the good old amateur days was allowed to continue, courtesy of old-school refs like Tony Spreadbury who used to stand aside, let them get on with it, wait till it all calmed down, and occasionally applied a disciplinary measure. Once the players got it out of their systems, things usually calmed down. These days, the refs are running in and tooting their whistles as soon as a player does anything in the slightest bit aggressive to an opponent. And fights between team mates were not uncommon! Speedway needs to increase its appeal by bigging-up the needle and aggro, including between team mates. Too much of the matey stuff gets on my wick -

Australian riders in their early years in UK usually have more success if they have another Aussie in the same team. For Peterborough's sake Mr Chapman needs to bury the hatchet with Chris Holder, and with Craig Cook and get them into the team before it's too late. If he can't do that, maybe he should step aside and let other people take over? -

Perhaps because Chapman would over-rule him because Zagar has a Z in his name? -

Yes, he would have to pay and maybe he's now preferring to sit on his "speedway money" and waiting to see what happens not just with Peterborough but the whole speedway situation in the UK. Maybe he could finance a large indoor arena which could be multipurpose for speedway, horse jumping, monster trucks and karts (not all at same time, though). Is there anything like that anywhere else in the region yet? -

Maybe the best hope is that Mr Tomalin has decided that at present, the only sensible thing to do is to go "under the radar" and just let Mr Chapman's control of the club run to its conclusion, which may turn out to be not too pleasant. If he puts money in to pay for "expensive" riders, would it now really make that much difference, especially if that meets with resistance from Mr Chapman who is clearly averse to spending and could just block anything? Mr Chapman has already laid down a clear marker of who is on charge with the outcome of "Holdergate". So what can Mr Tomalin now do, in the short-term? Not very much, I guess. Your hope has to be that he's now focussing on the longer term but has to keep his cards in his hand for now -

As long as he's breathing and has bikes and a mechanic you probably can't be too fussy -

Could just be that Chapman and Tomalin have had a good old chat and have decided it's best to work together, accepting that one particular "red line" of Chapman's is kept and another one dropped? -

Stand by for a further statement from "Buster Chapman", along the lines of... Freddie Lindgren's always been a big mate and we've wanted to do a deal for years.....etc etc -
Thank you!

Peter Adams a notable exception to that rule - probably along with Middleditch, Rossiter and Boocock the most capable club team manager of the last 30 years. Don't think he was ever a rider. Rob Lyon and Stewart Dickson also not too shabby for non-riders

Has to be given a maximum of two home matches to prove himself, unless he turns up for first home match with an attitude and/or equipment which is so poor that justifies being told to **** off straight away

The utter stupidity of trying to begin the season in March, bites GB speedway on the bum once again. And if Pedersen has walked away, it would make "Buster Chapman"'s recent eulogy to him ring rather hollow, wouldn't it? Are messrs Ljung and Buzkowski still riding??
