  1. He should work out better, but you never know with the speedway gods. The comparison I was making was in terms of the rider who will make way for him.
  2. For a preview, refer to the Kasprzak for Laguta change last year at KL. But hope that Lindgren turns out to be better business than Laguta was.....
  3. Yes, what the hell does "character of the area" actually mean!?
  4. Surely, the real villains in this are the EoE Agricultural Society? AEPG/Butterfield, for all their overblown credentials and ridiculous front, seem to just be the hired guns, being paid to do the dirty work. For a Charity, the Ag Soc look to be carrying abnormally high amounts of financial reserves, which I think they are trying to justify due to making provisions for the costs involved with the project. And for an organisation whose main purpose is the promotion, protection and advancement of rural and land-based business and traditions, isn't it extraordinarily ironic (and scandalous) that they are attempting to facilitate the building-over of an area traditionally used in association with those aims! It also begs the question as to why a speedway stadium was built there at all? Wouldn't it have been contrary to the "principles" of the EoE Agricultural Society, or has it always been primarily a money-making organisation mainly concerned with piling-up huge financial reserves? With regards to the financing of AEPG, it appears they have an office near to the Showground, and possibly two paid employees in addition to Butterfield. How is this being funded? I notice that Butterfield is also a Director of a company called Orbit4 based in Cheshire, but cannot find any financial, legal or trading link between them and AEPG.
  5. I didn't know there was one! Even so, Oxford would have had limited options
  6. It badly needed a "racing incident" or two, to distract from the tedious processions. A couple of riders binning it with nobody near them, didn't come close. Best bit for me was the bloke leaning up against the pits wall having a not-so crafty smoke, in camera shot just past Abbi Stephens.
  7. If what KL did last year is anything to go by, Pawlicki will have already been given his P60, along with his compatriot at Oxford. I will hope for the Brummies that the admirable move to bring in Lindgren works out well.
  8. Would Kerr fit in at 6 for Leicester replacing Kemp? Must only be a matter of time until Janowski is replaced by someone capable of consistent No.1 scoring.
  9. Leicester currently less than the sum of their parts. Nobody rising above their start of season average, of which at least one is needed to make them into serious challengers, and no sign that it's going to happen, either. But if you look at the other teams, only Tom Brennan seems to be firing above his starting average!
  10. The Brummies should end the disastrous engagements of Pawlicki and Milik asap. Scott Nicholls should be made an offer he can't refuse, with Ermolenko replacing him at Eurosport. As for the other replacement, there must be a few to choose from, potentially. Craig Cook, Richie Worrall, Nick Morris, Timo Lahti, Ilya Bondarenko, Kim Nilsson, Peter Ljung, Greg Walasek, Greg Hancock all come to mind
  11. Fully expecting to see a post by Artem Laguta's "agent" anytime soon! Seeing Dan Thompson's scores must be like being haunted by a ghost. Feel sorry for Drew Kemp, but it's dog eat dog at no.6
  12. I'm not sure that Mr Tolley is accruing debt: from what I've gleaned, he is using personal wealth to meet financial outlay which is needed after income streams. If that's the case, the question of how far he is able and prepared to go with that operating model, I suppose only he will know. I think there's a limited lifespan for the stadium being available anyway so this is possibly a one-off season (or two?). But I don't read Speedway Star, so there's probably more to it than this?
  13. When was that? Anyway, I doubt that Vaclav Milik can pull up any trees, always seemed a bit of an imposter to me. 3 or 4 more matches should be enough to establish his normal points contribution. That's when they may have to turn to Riss.
  14. I wonder if Woffobden has learned any Polish swear words, so he can use them during interviews over there? No? Hmm....thought not.
  15. It would not be a surprise to me, if Erik Riss joins Brum this season at some stage. What is the most likely way (other than for an injury) this could happen?
  16. The stupidity of scheduling league matches before April. Problem is the saturated ground that even relatively small amounts of rain will leave water on the top. They never learn
  17. Thought I'd typed Adam Ellis but anyway since then realised he's with Ipswich now. I think Birmingham could do with both Batman and Robin
  18. The British premier league looks like it is starting incredibly early, this year. Why is this? Standing around freezing one's nuts off on April evenings is bad enough, but March is far too cold. I suppose it is for the benefit of those riders who want to get some laps in and reach "match sharpness' ready for the Polish and Swedish league seasons, to the advantage of their paymasters in Poland? So there must be several riders, with previous UK experience, available for a few weeks who need to get some competitive laps in to help get into the groove. What about Adam West?
  19. Re-declare the team with Nicki Pedersen in to replace Pawlicki
  20. Maybe starting off by bringing it in for televised UK matches? BSPL buys a stock (or gets a supply at cost price from a manufacturer that can have its logo on the shirts) and the home club is responsible for giving them out. Then just make anything worn below the waist the responsibility of riders/mechanics but having to conform to the code?
  21. Is it time for anyone working in the pits at a speedway meeting, to be required to conform to a dress code? Black seems to be the best, but instead of heavy metal bands tour t-shirts, plain polo shirts with "pits crew" on the back, plain black trousers or long shorts, and black shoes& socks (NO flip-flops allowed). If BSPL could find a sponsor whose logo could be added, then it should be able to supply most of this kit (except shoes) free of charge via riders and promoters. This would help to portray a better image when matches are televised and to new spectators.
  22. Good question. I suppose that putting an extra point on his (unreduced) average would be fine with Leicester and their supporters
