  1. The stupidity of scheduling league matches before April. Problem is the saturated ground that even relatively small amounts of rain will leave water on the top. They never learn
  2. Thought I'd typed Adam Ellis but anyway since then realised he's with Ipswich now. I think Birmingham could do with both Batman and Robin
  3. The British premier league looks like it is starting incredibly early, this year. Why is this? Standing around freezing one's nuts off on April evenings is bad enough, but March is far too cold. I suppose it is for the benefit of those riders who want to get some laps in and reach "match sharpness' ready for the Polish and Swedish league seasons, to the advantage of their paymasters in Poland? So there must be several riders, with previous UK experience, available for a few weeks who need to get some competitive laps in to help get into the groove. What about Adam West?
  4. Re-declare the team with Nicki Pedersen in to replace Pawlicki
  5. Maybe starting off by bringing it in for televised UK matches? BSPL buys a stock (or gets a supply at cost price from a manufacturer that can have its logo on the shirts) and the home club is responsible for giving them out. Then just make anything worn below the waist the responsibility of riders/mechanics but having to conform to the code?
  6. Is it time for anyone working in the pits at a speedway meeting, to be required to conform to a dress code? Black seems to be the best, but instead of heavy metal bands tour t-shirts, plain polo shirts with "pits crew" on the back, plain black trousers or long shorts, and black shoes& socks (NO flip-flops allowed). If BSPL could find a sponsor whose logo could be added, then it should be able to supply most of this kit (except shoes) free of charge via riders and promoters. This would help to portray a better image when matches are televised and to new spectators.
  7. Good question. I suppose that putting an extra point on his (unreduced) average would be fine with Leicester and their supporters
  8. I thought Bowen came across as a bit of an outsider in the various group situations he was shown in. Unless he rapidly becomes more prominent, puts himself at risk of Sugar spotting this and trying to flush him out. Bowen seemed to be the one who made the deal which proved to be the killer blow for his team, yet seemed to get away without it being brought out when the dirt hit the fan. He was lucky.
  9. It's an achievement to have assembled the 1-7 by the end of January after having had to start from scratch. This type of team is going to depend on a strong collective spirit to develop quickly, and that will be a challenge although the ex-Wolves contingent should bring some cohesion with them. So it will be vital for the three "newcomers" to buy-in and not just regard this an an additional commitment in their diaries. Hopefully the Brum management have some possible replacements in case it doesn't work out. The team manager in this sort of situation is a vital cog with people management skills one of a large set of essential ones. I hope Mr Ermolenko and others are up to the task. The role of LUCK is also going to be amplified in this scenario, including how it is handled when and if the luck is of the negative type. So I wish lots of good luck to Birmingham. I've a feeling you'll need some.
  10. No pressure, but if Drew Kemp can step things up, Leicester will be strong contenders. I think that Becker could turn out to be the signing that gives the top 5 another genuine heats 13&15 performer. Hope I am proved wrong, but Masters might be beyond his best years now.
  11. Wouldn't Iversen be best deployed in a position that gives him more of his rides later in a match, when the track is more likely to have gone slick inside and can get his back wheel onto the dirt? But problem with that, could be that KL has several riders with similar needs!
  12. So, on the basis of the inconsistent one obviously being A. Laguta, the other would have to be B. Zmarzlik.
  13. Will the removal of metal from his body reduce the effects of the starting gate magnets, and enable him to make faster starts?
  14. Is it too late for Oxford to change this Spires thing? Something linked to motor cars or alcoholic detectives would be better, wouldn't it?
  15. I went to see the Doc about it last week. Said there's a lot of it around and gave me some ointment but so far, no better
  16. Yes, and I don't know his fitness situation or if he's still eligible for RS but not been signed yet by anyone
  17. Could JT be Leicester's RS? Same first 4 letters of surname, different ending
  18. And maybe get awarded an OBE, too. (Other Buggers' Efforts)
  19. Are the Thompson family and Stewart Dickson on friendly terms? Suggestions on here last season that the relationship wasn't good
  20. How definite are Luke Becker and Ryan Douglas at Leicester? One of those two would be good captures. If Birmingham can use the composition of the Wolves 2023 team as a template (I don't mean import all the riders!) with a slightly stronger reserve pair, they could fit the bill without having to pay Zagar whatever ridiculous money he may demand
  21. Travel expenses might be a bit on the high side.
