National/premier League Riders Nationality.
Long Eye replied to Mad Potter 2's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I'll agree that a foreign rider from unusual countries can be a bit of an added attraction but we already have the PL and EL for that. The NL for me has the added attraction of NOT being full of foreigners. -

So how would an inexperienced foreign rider help bring more to a team than an inexperienced British rider? -
How Many Heats In A League Meeting ?

But how would Jack Parker compare and what has he got to do with how many heats there are? -
How Many Heats In A League Meeting ?

Not at the moment but they have done relatively recently. Also, were the Swedes not banned for a season in the 70s and I'm sure the entertainment would have been just as good during that season. As a rarity on here, I actually enjoy watching speedway so the more heats there are then the better it is. -

Why not? How many Poles rode in Britain in the '70s? -
I don't like the shape of the road that leads there

The Start Of The Decline

I understand though that some devious riders would use an oily rag occasionally on the bike. -
Do you shop at Age Concern?

Please take time to understand posts before replying with a rant. I said hopefully the changes will improve the amount of racing lines, time will tell. And yes I have ridden a speedway bike many times. Have you?
-
Not always. Glasgow turned a reasonable track into a rough boring track. Hopefully it's being rectified again.

Why spend more money than necessary?
-
The changes have opened up the entries and exits to the bends, the straights are now slightly shorter and hopefully it will allow more racing lines. Time will tell. As for the cost difference between Leicesters changes and Glasgows, Glasgow spent a lot of money making the track worse a couple of winters ago.

Not really. Jamie was a very promising rider until he suffered severe injuries around 2006. I do agree with you though that some fathers reputations can open doors that should remain closed.

The Start Of The Decline

The day that Douglas introduced lay down engines. The sport was never the same again. -
If you get a chance to go again, have a look at the riders head on when they are at the tapes then go Newcastle or Rye House and compare the difference.
-
Have ever been? From curb to fence Leicester is one of the widest tracks in the country.

Yes Massa......

Not all steel valves used in speedway engines are regrindable.
-
A lot of steel valves in modern Japanese road and motocross bikes have a special coating on to help reduce friction that means they cannot be reground.

For many decades the ACU were the only recognised governing body for motorcycle sports in this country. This is no longer the case. The MCF and AMCA are also recognised as official governing bodies. Monopolies are no longer allowed.
-
If MacDonalds had a legal contract saying they were the only organisation allowed to sell burgers then Burger King would be breaking the law. Have the ACU got such a contract? it's been proved for many years that the ACU do not have the sole rights to Motocross, trials etc with the AMCA and MCF organising their own events. The Motorsport Association (MSA) do not have the sole rights to Karting in this country with many clubs running outside of their umbrella.
-
Why would the organisers have needed to ask the ACU, SCB etc when they are running under the MCF governing body? That would be like the owner of a Burger King branch asking MacDonalds if they could sell burgers.

Next thing that will happen is that speedway promoters will start leeching off greyhound, football and rugby ground owners and start to organise speedway meetings in them..........
