  1. Always a great night out at Berwick, with plenty of banter.
  2. BSPA have issued the new averages, and changes in clubs' 1-7's. At Owlerton, it is definately a new 1-7. Richard Hall out, Andre Compton in.
  3. That's probably the answer. I think the first poster's error was to name Bjerre as a wildcard (he clearly isn't). If a rider -- Porsing -- is unable to start, he is replaced by the next one down the pecking order from the non-qualifiers. With the meeting just over two weeks away, we'll no doubt learn the full line-up soon enough.
  4. My impression is that Berwick are usually very good about honouring farewells, etc. The club's presentation team can be relied upon to do the job, I'm sure
  5. Some confusion at Ashfield? Tigers' newsletter and website say new Dane Andy Thompson won't be at Shielfield on Saturday, but sources at Berwick assure me he will be riding! Anyone?
  6. I presume you're a paid-up BNP member, too? Your opening statement is one of the prime reasons Alex Salmond will have no trouble winning independance from arces (sic) like your goodself next year. I'll not be at King's Lynn tonight (Peterboro yesterday was far enough) but I'll be watching on TV, and hoping for a Team GB win. Because I'm Scottish, which makes me British. It is what the island is called.
  7. Celtic had worldwide sales of jerseys, etc, of over £8m in their last published accounts. How would that stack up against the gross takings in the Vargana track shop? Be thankful that Premier showed the Swedish speedway (average television audience of sometimes less than a thousand viewers) at all.
  8. Don't think anyone else is gutted you'll be missing. If Tigers are to consolidate, they'll surely be dumping the quite awful Mr Raun -- the Danish Penfold.
  9. It is a television programme, and structured accordingly. I like the pits shots and interviews -- if you want a fifteen-minute reels of the heats and nowt else, buy a track DVD. Watching speedway on Sky is a fine night's entertainment, usually among friends and family. Wholeheartedly welcome Sophie "home" and hope we never see or hear Rosco again.
  10. As a race-track, Scunny can be, and usually is, great. But.... For a big BSPA meeting, the place simply doesn't (yet) have the infrastructure to handle the attendance we would hope to see at (say) a British Final. Sightlines aren't great all around, and more stands and/or higher terraces would be needed. The question of a big FIM meeting was answered last season, when the stadium was deemed currently unacceptable by the FIM inspectors, and Rob (quite rightly) chose not to spend money the club presumably don't have to bring it up to scratch.
  11. Kozza scored paid twelve in El tonight at Coventry! Also, told tonight -- Ricky Ashworth will ride in second half tomorrow, and (if no ill-effects) will return to Berwick team next week.
  12. After Newcastle won their first leg of the KO Cup tie at Edinburgh but then bombed out by losing at home, who knows how this will end up? Good luck to Adam Roynon, and to Facu at reserve They will be the men to make a difference
  13. I see this date has now been confirmed as Thursday, August 8th. Good luck, Edward!
  14. Looks like Ricky is to continue at Berwick, where he has certainly been accepted and seems to enjoy himself, once he gets fit.
  15. According to a good source, yes. Cleared to ride. Inner ear, or final front ear -- Aye, Captain!
  16. Don't panic, Captain! Yes, a stainless-steel replacement is required, but the Tigers have the luxury of a huge list of quality guests under Simon's CMA to fill in for a couple of weeks while the right man is located. At the right price.
  17. Berwick website has Kozza at 50/50% to return. As a precaution, he is placed at #2. Bellego to #5, Paul Starke moves to #7.
  18. Speaking to Bandit people yesterday at Ashfield, they seemed much happier than the last time I encountered them. Now in mid-table, could still achieve the top six if form continues. They were especially pleased at the upsurge in scoring from Aspegren and Bellego, and seem to have a new hero in Wethers. Interesting to hear Dick Barrie appears to have been lured back from retirement to run meetings, and a couple of his past critics generously accepted there was a difference in atmosphere during recent meetings. All things bright and beautiful again at Shielfield?
  19. In fact, a promoter should be staging speedway which is entertaining for supporters in order to bring more of them into his meetings and make his business more profitable. For the long-term existance of the business, it must make a profit. The entertainment factor is only a sensible by-blow of maximising the income.
