  1. Liam Carr is riding for Monarchs tonight too, at Ipswich. Must have bagged off school!
  2. Klindt is the ultimate trapping tart. Worse, he's probably the biggest roller in the PL. If allowed to get away with his fliers he's very good. If he fails to get into the first turn he's a nonentity. Edinburgh's hopes of winning (the match and thus the group) must be pinned on a referee being appointed who will pull Klindt back and warn (and then exclude) him for his conduct.
  3. This topic has been getting discussed on the Berwick v Sheffield page, but should return here now. One poster pointed out it was impossible to suggest a full line-up at any club in any league until formats and points limitations had been decided. But speaking to a number of Bandits' people (supporters and officials) I think they'd be daft not to make every effort to get Jakub Jamrog over here on a British licence.
  4. Just beat me to it, B4E! Not sure why earlier correspondent didn't check club website, it's there OK. As is the link for people to sign up for the newsletter! Looks pretty easy, this Tiger is going to try it out. If only for the free tickets.
  5. Try that bit on with Robin H -- lose, and he demands scalps, blood and a whole new team!
  6. Actually, that's right. Going to speedway is for many spectators a social occasion, a cheerful night out in good company with spectacle and excitement thrown in. Narrow home win? Even better.
  7. Newcastle were also aware that they had riders -- and supporters -- involved in the Derek Sneddon Testimonial tomorrow (Derek was a valued and popular Diamond for some years). If this had been a must-race-before-the-deadline meeting with one of the clubs needing the points, the situation would have been quite different, but this way surely suits everyone. 'Deek' gets his riders and a few Geordie fans, Plymouth can extend their season -- and the memory of Tony Sanford can still be enjoyed tomorrow.
  8. Worrall riding in EL, Tully committed to race at Edinburgh -- did Newcastle ever agree to ride on 13th, or was this just a Plymouth assumption that they would?
  9. Whoever gets him will have to be very quick, given the "transfer window"....
  10. Sadly, I don't think Facu has much choice. He's got no money, he's had costly engine problems and is simply riding anything he can scrabble together. If ever a Tiger needed a sponsor..........
  11. No-one at Armadale tonight could suggest that the horrific accident was in any way caused by silencers, track surface or whatever. Two riders lock together coming out of the start, a throttle can't be turned off and they actually accelerate, still conjoined, head-on into the fence. Could have happened in 1933, 1963, 1983 or last night.
  12. Local interest gets a boost with Glasgow Tigers' Joe Jacobs being drafted into the line-up to replace the injured Ashley Morris as second reserve on the night. As well as his Glasgow followers, Joe often stays in the border area (with his manager Sean Courtney). Still no news on a replacement for the injured Russian, however.
  13. It is unfortunate, it seems the rules concerning Swedish riders' fixtures have changed this year. Newcastle are without Ludvig Lindgren at Sheffierld too. To be fair to Robin Aspegren, apart from when he fell ill en route to Plymouth, I think this is the first match he's missed?
  14. And as boring as fluck. Straight into the bin beside any self-respecting editor's desk.
  15. Adam Ellis was given a set of goggles by a Berwick sponsor as "Rider of the Night". He must now feel he will be able to get in amongst the big guns, guys like Dudek, Beck Jensen, Lebedevs, Zmarzlik and Milik, on August 10th in the World Under 21 Final at Berwick. Best of all, as the local fans seemed to take to him, he'll probably have the whole crowd cheering him on.
  16. Fully agree about atmosphere last night. Friendly and fun, as alluded to in Dick's programme column, telling of days gone by when "both clubs had no title pressures, and everyone could go home happy and entertained". A night out at speedway like it used to be!
  17. Not correct, Mick. Thomsen is at Berwick, as per all Berwick releases and your club's latest Red Alert.
  18. Two weeks to go for this one. Really looking forward to another big event in the north. If all the tracks get airfences for next year, will we see FIM moving the big dates around to different circuits?
  19. Of course he has, but so has Craig Cook. He might have a short fuse, but whatever you think of him personally he may be Britain's best hope of being our next GP rider in a year or two -- remember he has been riding speedway for a much-shorter time than Tai and a few others. All the young upstarts, right back to Briggo and probably beyond, have had problems and fight early in their careers. Britain's World Champions haven't all had lilywhite reputations. The great ones (in many sports and other entertainment industries) often have a short fuse to go with their talent. Suarez, McEnroe, Cantona, Higgins, etc. Speedway riders can be well-rounded human beings (insert Joe Screen joke here) but most are just young lads who receive a great deal of acclaim for having an unusual talent of riding a motor-bike sideways. Too many fans are blind to the fact that a lad who is suddenly thrust into the public spotlight and given a great deal of money is still a lad. Some grow up and out of their stupid phase, some don't. For the sake of speedway, not least British speedway, we have to hope Craig Cook grows up and out of his.
  20. Will Cookie get the full appreciation of the Army Army for his actions at Ipswich?
