  1. Fine photos! Could I try doing the same, or do you need permission from the club or BSPA these days?
  2. I've seen the Star in WH Smiths' at Braehead, but usually they get snapped up quickish.
  3. They would be mad to pay Redcar's asking price -- it's more than they wanted for Kus!
  4. He certainly picked the wrong guy to attack. Deek popped him really hard (in the face of a full-on attack by the helmet-swinger) and spread blood all over Mr G's face. He then calmly walked into the pits, leaving the assembled posse wrestling with the would-be attacker. The referee, who had seen nothing to take action about during the race would, if he is experienced, have been "marking his programme" during the action.
  5. Aren't Tungate, Batchelor and Woodward in the other two qualifiers, Saturday and Monday? Berwick is just one of three rounds. Proctor missed Aussie titles through his injuries (unlike the ones who just didn't enter) and MA might feel, as he has an EL average, he deserves nomination.
  6. Paid 6 with a fall at Worky, paid 6 and unlucky by all accounts not to be paid ten at Plymouth? Matej Kus will do just fine for Bandits, home and away.
  7. Getting interesting now! Adam Roynon today named in Plymouth newspapers as having signed for the Devils, and racing for them on Saturday against Edinburgh. Which surely, surely means that Sheffield (if Proctor isn't approved today) can't maintain him in their 1-7 and use any facility for him tonight?
  8. I wholeheartedly agree with your point that there must be a strict adherence to the regulations, and there must never be rule-bending by the Management Committee to solve one problem when it opens the door for a hundred more problems down the line.
  9. Klindt AND Jorgensen! Better lay in a big supply of starting tapes.
  10. Bandits' website reports: Berwick’s speedway Bandits, sponsored in 2014 by New Holland Agriculture, face a KO Cup double this week, travelling south to Sheffield on Thursday and returning to Shielfield Park on Saturday for the deciding (on aggregate) leg of the tie. The winners of the tie will progress to the quarter-final stage, where they will meet the (currently) all-conquering Edinburgh Monarchs, the only team to have defeated the Bandits at home this season. When the Bandits roll into Sheffield for the Thursday leg, they will find an unexpected face in the Tigers' ranks! In a rather surprising move, the new Sheffield promotion have released British starlet Adam Roynon and recruited Wolverhampton's Aussie Ty Proctor to come on board as his replacement. Another rider who will be full of confidence in the Sheffield camp should be baby-faced Josh Bates, just turned eighteen and already the British U-21 Champion, having taken the title with a sterling display at Wolverhamption on April 15th. It is hardly a surprise to find Josh in the Tigers’ team – his uncle Damien owns the Sheffield club! Damien heads the consortium which bought out long-term promoter Neil Machin over the winter months. On Saturday, Bandits will be without Frenchman David Bellego, who has been recalled by his federation to contest a round of the World U-21 Championship at Stralsund, on the Baltic in the far north of Germany. “David made his ambitions in both the World and European U-21 Championship very clear to us” explained Bandits’ co-manager George Hepburn. “We were aware of these justifiable ambitions when we agreed his contract earlier this year. “This Saturday he will take his first step towards the World crown, racing at Stralsund. He goes with our club's best wishes and full approval. “As a result, we will be using the rider-replacement regulation, with Matty Wethers, Matej Kus and the two reserves eligible to take his four races. “As it happens, our opponents will also be using this regulation on Saturday, as new signing Ty Proctor will be skipping the fixture to ride for Elite League Wolverhampton at Eastbourne.” Saturday’s teams: Berwick: 1. Kevin Doolan, 2. David Bellego (Rider-replacement) 3. Matej Kus, 4. Matty Wethers (Captain), 5. Claus Vissing, 6. Liam Carr, 7. Steen Jensen. Sheffield: 1. Simon Stead (captain), 2. Ty Proctor (Rider-replacement), 3. Andre Compton, 4. Taylor Poole, 5. Leigh Lanham, 6.Simon Nielsen, 7. Josh Bates.
  11. The Poles and Danes have two nominations each, but will not be in a position to name their riders until after each of their nations' own championship qualifying meetings in mid-May.
  12. Places are allocated to nations, with the recognised speedway countries getting most places. FIM have no say in who the riders are, or at which round they race. Most will decide on which of the country's riders has the best chance of getting to the GP, and name these guys, although some (Denmark and Australia, certainly) offer the places to riders who have done best in their domestic process. Britain this season has four places, Ritchie Worrall and Danny King are at the rounds at Ljubliana and Abensberg, while Chris Harris and Craig Cook were to be at St Johann but now find themselves switched to Berwick. Unlikely that either will argue! Of the other leading British riders, Tai will be hoping to maintain his GP status without having to go through the GP Challenge, and Scott Nicholls has presumably declined nomination. Australia's champion is Chris Holder, who like Tai will aim to maintain GP status, and the next four finishers in the 2014 Aussie Title meetings are Jason Doyle, Josh Grajczonek, Rohan Tungate and Justin Sedgmen. If Australia has more than four nominations, Cameron Woodward and Mason Campton are next in line.
  13. Eddie is right in that respect. Maybe Berrington Lough could be rebuilt and opened before Belle Vue's proposed move is started?
  14. The rule remains. Newcastle were granted an exemption because Tully was here in the UK, injured on the track (albeit in a practice) and would be resuming with the Diamonds when fit. Sadly, Kozza Smith isn't here, and we must presume won't be. So where do the Bears go from here? Suggestions on a postcard?
  15. Facu Albin is surely coming back. With 2013's experience and another season at home in Argentina, he must be a trump card at reserve.
  16. While issue of work permits is a triangular business between UK government, employer and potential employee, is there a difficulty because speedway riders are technically self-employed? If there is to be an employer in the process, would this be the club whose asset a rider is, or his current EL or PL club? Is it just me, but has this situation worsened dramatically since the change in UK government?
  17. Joey Ringwood has definately NOT retired. He will be contesting the Australian Titles, starting at Kurri Kurri on January 3rd. Surely Tigers will bring him back for a second season?
  18. So, no Darcy, no Watt, no Schlein, no Kozza Smith (is he fit?).... No Brady Kurtz -- is he concentrating on the U-21? Next question: On what basis can MA put Jack Holder into the main event ahead of Nick Morris or Sam Masters?
  19. If Tigers are outbidding four other clubs, is it a wise policy? £55K deficit to overturn, you'd suspect the last thing they want to do is spend money on out-bidding others for an untried five-pointer. Is he as good as Penfold, O'Malley or the Danes?
  20. A 5.00 average risk, and certainly not worth the kind of money it was being bandied about that he was asking for. But he's going to wear the stripes, and must now be supported.
  21. Is he the French boy who rode in the second half when Tigers were at Berwick last summer? He looked very raw, and totally wiped out a young Aussie in one race. Also saw him in Ricky Ashworth meeting. Not worth a 5.00, and certainly not worth a club with a £50K overdraft paying him they money we heard he was asking for!
  22. Milik came third, but who's counting? Sadly, he wouldn't be a feasible signing for a Saturday night track in UK. Forget him. Sorry. Matej Kus is close to Dick Barrie who travelled with him to Argentina and is also in, or going, to Australia and will obviously see him there. He is also friendly with Berwick photographer Colin Poole. Don't write him off. No problem with that. Worked for Peter. Quite correct. However, no doubt there are posters on here finding fault with that, too.
