  1. Of course. But assuming it was about Saturday matches rather than something quite unreasonable (like BSPA lend us £100k), the BSPA should bend over backwards to keep speedway going everywhere.
  2. Rye say they have been thrown out by the BSPA despite making a proposal to continue. Madness by the BSPA.
  3. Spot on. It’s Summer and sunny, but no meeting today or last week. And next week might be called off because we’ve chosen a World Cup semi Wednesday rather than sticking to the Thursday (no football that day). Bonkers.
  4. So Jon Cook says one league won’t work cos Poole monopolise assets and you think that’s an argument in favour of Poole?
  5. Fans relating to their riders. Got it in one. Can you imagine Coca Cola changing their recipe every year?
  6. “asking price”? Lol Matt Ford will have to pay someone to take the club off his hands! Seriously, I can see any deal being made on the basis that he underwrites any first year loss or offers some sort of subsidy. The Rye House collapse, the rubbish Poole team, the aging assets, the countless riders who don’t want to ride for Poole, the track fiasco, the ridiculous last minute cancellation, the wholesale disillusionment of Poole fans, the general decline of speedway and, in all likelihood a financial loss rather than a profit for the club this season, gives the Poole no value. The only hope is that Shovvy cobbles together a consortium to put his brilliant business ideas into practice.
  7. Swindon’s last meeting 21 June and next one 11 July. No continuity. That’s why I stopped going every week several years ago. After all the early rain offs (and later ones to come) it’s about time the season was run from May to September. That would keep the interest.
  8. Hi Mike. I’m sorry for your problems, but you’ve always been spiky and overly defensive of Poole. Why not remember to be light-hearted every time? It’s only a forum. Think of it as chatting with friends. No one hates you.
  9. OK, get that point. The BSPA need to go to WD40 and offer them coverage on next season’s 18 matches of the WD40 British League on BT Sport, assuming the contract with BT does not give BT all advertising rights (other than the local stuff in the stadiums). I’m not aware that there’s any such sponsorship this season so that’s a fab idea. Hopefully it might bring in £100k? “WD40” on the start girls tops?
  10. I’m still not getting your point. A company might pay £50k to advertise on TV but that money goes to BT, not the speedway clubs. None of the advertising on televised speedway benefits the sport, it benefits the TV companies! The clubs do not benefit at all, in fact they lose out because more existing fans stay away from the televised matches than new fans drawn in by the publicity.
  11. You know, that sounds good, but without evidence, it’s just a guess. And there’s no evidence that BT league coverage has brought in new fans and boosted attendances; quite the contrary in all probability, with existing fans watching on TV rather than attend a televised meeting. The GPs give speedway sufficient coverage to “attract” new fans. That’s a sufficient public profile for that purpose. The broadcasting of league meetings by the BSPA itself could be about direct revenue rather than profile, grossing maybe £100k a month (10,000 subscribers at £10 each). I doubt that the local businesses who sponsor clubs value BT’s coverage as only three or four matches per team are televised and national advertising is of little worth to local businesses.
  12. Try Tomlinson’s Facebook page. He’s on there every day showing the good causes he’s attended, but what he has actually achieved is never mentioned. Ah, the modesty of a politician.
  13. Can’t see that the current BT deal brings much for sponsors with only say 12 meetings, but a dedicated channel with 40 might!
  14. I wouldn’t have BT sport if it weren’t for speedway and I’d happily pay £10 a month for a dedicated speedway channel that our clubs benefit from. Good idea.
  15. Yep. He could be as good as Klindt.
  16. Just hazarding a guess, and it’s only a guess, but might it just be because ... .... the Poole team is crap?
  17. Good for you. Let’s hope the Rye House problem sees the start of a proper debate by sensible people, rather than the usual ragbag response of sticking plasters and self-interest.
  18. Poole think it’s all over ........
  19. Apparently the Bournemouth Echo is reporting sightings in Poole this morning of ..... .... Ozil, Muller and Kroos.
  20. Slightly concerned that Poole might get a point out of this??? so I’ll go for 89-1.
  21. Are Poole fans really that fickle? One poor season and everyone stops going? Swindon didn’t win the league for 45 years but we’re still going. Stop sounding like a load of spoilt brats, and support your riders. Kurtz and Grajczonek will come good, even if you don’t win it this year.
  22. Really? You were so looking forward to seeing Poole “smash” the Aces. Another appointment with your therapist instead? Get well soon, Steve.
  23. Shovvy’s looking forward to Poole smashing the Aces. Gotta be 37-53 ain’t it Shovvy?
