Cardiff 2018 21st July
DC2 replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I thought it did work. It was innovative and far more exciting than the riders lining up or trundling around the track. There should be more connection with the fans and that was a start. -

Nige and Kelvin were brilliant yesterday. They have an excellent rapport, no awkwardness or hesitation and are funny. Far superior to all the stilted, cliched, pseudo-insightful and just plain dull commentaries in the football World Cup. -

Old bloke trying one of those kids stupid haircuts. -
Yep, they sent a post card saying: “Away on holiday with Star Lady, wish you were at our meetings rather than here, keep spending the money mushrooms”

Stick a number 7 on your back and pop back up there, will ya?
-
What, the 70s, when you could leave your house and car unlocked and no one burgled you? When you knew your neighbours? When you had to dial your TV like cracking a safe to change channel? When petrol cost 30p a gallon, not £6? Ah, the seventies .....

The continuing decline of Speedway

Gone with the wind? -
Well, at least he’s a Wolves rider through and through, not one of those Poole mercenaries. Bit of a cynical signing though considering he’s turned his back on the UK league and wouldn’t sign at the start of the year. Can’t he get enough rides in Sweden?

Nobody cares what you think. You don’t support a team or go to matches. You are irrelevant. -

Tobi was one of Swindon’s two tactical changes in 2017 and he was brought in as an asset, kept for the season and retained this year. How many of Poole’s and Leicester’s team changes this year have come in as assets, been kept and will be retained next year? -

If you ever wanted an example of winning badly, in the most unsporting fashion, Poole is it. -

Spot on, Sidney. Some clubs try to buy the title every year by bringing in ringers. -

No worries here, Steve. Sport is just sport and if you’re not good enough you don’t win. However I am pleased that Swindon have done it the right way this year, keeping faith with their original seven (barring the injury replacement) rather than desperately scouring the globe to cobble together a ragbag of mercenaries who have nothing to do with the club in a vain attempt to seek a veneer of “glory”. It wouldn’t really be glory if “the Poole select” win it this year, would it? It would be a polish of turds! -

And there it was, minus 8. A brave attempt by the top four, coming up just short with two instances of bad luck for Nick and Batch. It does make you wonder about Rosco and his management of the other three positions. With all the meetings coming up we should unquestionably have had a 28 day replacement for David, a better guest than Perks who has had so little bike time this year and a new asset replacement for Jack who simply can’t score at this level without being gifted. Plenty of odd balls there too but none would fess up to being Reading Racer, who we suspected was cosy under his Thomas the Tank duvet a hundred miles away in Peterborough. -

Where are you stood RR, I’ll come over for a chat -
It shouldn’t be made a problem for any team, fans should be entitled to see 14 riders.
-
Nope. For your team too. Especially for an injury.
-
Six man teams are worse, especially when a rider is missing through injury.
-
Yep, Brady’s days are numbered.

Hmmm. We’ll be net losers in Nick Morris’s first three races, get 1-5 in heat 2 and 3-3 at best in heat 8 (Ellis), so we’re about minus 8 to start with. -
Think you’re right, but it’s illogical and stupid.
