  1. What’s the point in gradings when actual averages are more accurate?
  2. Firstly, you suggest that other clubs would have to shell out big time to be competitive, but that’s not the case, is it? Swindon weren’t run away league winners this season. They hardly won any away matches before the play offs. They were lucky to come good at the right time. On the eve of the semis it seemed that Wolves were the fancied club, especially with Douglas and Becker at reserve. One rider injury or loss of form and Swindon wouldn’t have won. Even if Wolves didn’t strengthen next season there’s every chance that they could beat this year’s Swindon team, especially with Douglas and Becker improving. Having said all of that I don’t think a 46.34 limit next season will be fair if there are more than eight teams because that would make it too difficult for the ninth club to find the right riders.
  3. That bit doesn’t work for me. If Swindon re-sign the same seven riders their team limit, as the highest one, should be the new limit. If they do not re-sign the same seven then it goes down to the next highest averaged team to see if they want to sign the same seven and so on until we get to 42 in default. The main reason for the rule would be to encourage rider and fan loyalty. In the hope that fan numbers rise and the sport can survive. Equalisation would be possible if appropriate riders were available for the other clubs but it would be secondary to the principle of encouraging loyalty.
  4. Maybe the opponents in the Shield should be Poole’s 2020 team versus the Sprockets.
  5. In terms of bargains, Jorgensen, Summers and Steve Worrall could all comfortably add a point next season. Oh, and Ricky Wells and Stefan Nielsen (4.51) as a reserve.
  6. Both Eddie Kennett (8.62) and Nick Morris (8.38) have fairly high CL averages. While they both come into consideration as number ones they are definitely not bargains. Eddie, in particular, might not do so well away from the Eastbourne track.
  7. Nah, it’ll be a load of speeded up Steve Chomley-Warners in great coats and trilbies waving their wooden rattles. ”Jolly good show, lads”.
  8. You never know, Eurosport might need a “Yesteryear” feature on a rain off. Poole on Pathe News.
  9. Why Wolves? What did they achieve? BV and Ipswich were the runners up in the two competitions.
  10. You’re showing a bit too much interest in Danny King!
  11. 5+1 and 7+1 more than acceptable? Well, I suppose that’s the standard for Poole now.
  12. King, Howarth, Nicol and their two young Aussies if Poole are just swapping with Sheffield.
  13. Imagine if it were Danny King. What a backward step!
  14. Vaculik would be a good shout as he already speaks with a Yorkshire accent.
  15. Kemp’s not ready for the PL. And I don’t think he achieved the necessary 4.8 average (PL 3 minimum x 1.6 conversion) to come up. Edit: He averaged 3.58 in the CL.
  16. So Skidder was wrong, no British PL number one.
  17. Didn’t he say in an interview on speedwaygp that he would consider the UK? Here it is: https://www.speedwaygp.com/news/article/7900/british-return-for-iversen-in
  18. Skidded said Poole would have a British number one from the PL. So that’s Charles Wright.
  19. Don’t worry, we’ll all be happy in the top league for our riders to get easy practice turning out for Poole in the second division. Ellis Perks as number one?
  20. Especially if there’s ten teams and the limit is 40.
  21. I can understand that, but Pickering averaged 6.98 CL (4.36 converted PL at 1.6) and Wells 7.05 PL (3.66 actual PL). You couldn’t have Nick Morris or Hans Andersen with Pickering but you could with Wells (assuming 42.5 and no Batch/Vissing). Pickering and Pieszczek would fit without Morris or Andersen.
  22. As 70% of them ride in the CL, that’s no surprise! It’s the 30% of good ones that you’ll miss!
  23. I realise why some might not favour Wells ....... until they see the alternatives. Who would yours be?
  24. Doyle, Ellis, Hans Andersen, Musielak, Jensen, Perks, Wells would fit 42.5 with Perks having a 2.5% reduction.
  25. To be honest, I regretted it, because I could no longer watch speedway on BT and I have to watch Eurosport (cycling) on the iPad, as the Talktalk fast fibre seems to flicker down frequently and interrupt Eurosport chromecasting to the TV.
