See the “British speedway to be reborn?” thread below! http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/89318-british-speedway-to-be-reborn/

Here’s a good comparison with flu: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/health/flu-vaccine-deaths-nhs-ineffective-crisis-bad-weather-illness-2017-a8660496.html

This would require new contracts between Eurosport/BT, the speedway organisations and existing Sports customers. And a league would be impossible to fund without televising all four matches each week. And there’s probably insufficient time and will to organise it. Otherwise, it’s an idea.
-
Sounds terrible. But, out of interest, have you ever been bed-ridden with flu for three weeks? It’s not the “cold” that people make out!
-
Can’t believe your wife bothers cooking, she might just as well hand you your “vitamins” bottle!
-
You hope I get Covid? That says enough, doesn’t it. And it’s not my idiotic comment, I’m quoting government statistics.

Who are the future stars of British Speedway?

Drew Kemp? -
Most world championships are held in one country each time, aren’t they? Football, rugby and cricket world cups, athletics, swimming and cycling world championships and the Olympics!
-
Has the weather ever been better? Yes, it was better last week.
-
Don’t worry, Steve, you know where to see the statistics if you want to!
-
If you’re furloughed you could try the Open University? Having said that, GCSE Maths is probably enough to analyse the stats better than the media. Go for it!
-
Imperial College London says Coronavirus kills 0.6% to 0.9% of those infected while flu kills 0.2%. Sounds like glorified flu to me apart from the fact that it doesn’t kill children in any numbers.
-
No. Deaths is the only definitive measure, despite being subject to a doctor’s judgment of the cause of death. New cases are more arbitrary, depending on people deciding whether or not to go to hospital, and a testing system that gives too many false negatives (which is why we’re now seeing half of the tests being re-done).
-
The 300 is under 60 without underlying conditions. The total under 60 including underlying conditions is 1,623.
-
About 300 out of 20,000 hospital deaths. Actually, that’s under 65s so I doubt it’s more than 100 under 50.

Now that your news is out, Matt, my guess is that your salary is down to 80%.

Will the premiership start on time?

Normally I find football boring but now I can’t wait for it to re-start! Any sport will do! -

The difference is that we’ll have the testing capability for 3,000 football match (10 PL matches) participants but not the 15 million children across the country. -
That’s probably no more than one rider in every twenty meetings, so hardly an issue, is it?
-
Almost certainly.
-
Well, it would if you’re looking to reduce their wages. Isn’t that the whole point of the discussion? Getting costs down so we can lower the entrance fee or spend more money on improving the stadium or track?
-
Yeah, but we had floods only a couple of months ago so we must have full reservoirs?
-
If this weather is the upside of global warming, what’s not to like?

Hoping Poole can run us close this time.

Next week, Charlie Chaplin stars as Poole’s last title winning captain.
