Protection is bad. Look at Anders Rowe this year.
He started on a 2 point average and went up to 4.38 despite going into the main body of the team.
Imagine the advantage Somerset would have had if he had been protected from moving up. He’d have beaten all of the other teams’ 2 point reserves home and away throughout the season.
I’d be happy for them to be given the first third of the season at reserve but no more.
That 25% saving is probably on riders’ wages alone (15% from replacing a PL number one with an NL reserve and 10% across the pay rates of the others).
But it does not take into account the reduced revenue from
no TV money,
lower crowds,
lower entrance fees,
less sponsorship and
less advertising.
Poole will just be chasing more losses.
You’re basing Fricke and Covatti leaving on rumour.
Just the same as the rumour that Nicki P might come back!
A couple of weeks ago Klindt was leaving too but now he’s being linked with Ipswich.
If so, that’s a disgrace.
If a club wants to move up that should be its choice and there should be no condition about retaining an NL side unless that condition is placed on all CL clubs.
If Poole are allowed back into the PL they’ll have to sign the new Fair Play Charter.
And apparently Matt has said he would rather be dead in a ditch than do that!
