Birmingham Brummies 2020
DC2 replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
You'd take a 3 pointer despite having 5 available? -
It's surprising that everyone saw Anders Rowe as a no brainer signing for Somerset but no one made Drew Kemp their first signing, regardless of their averages this season. Kemp is certain to add a point.
-
Or you could say, when he's trying he's always determined, normally ruthless, and occasionally reckless. But he is a character and great to watch.
-
Brilliant signing for British speedway and Eastbourne, regardless of the limit. A lot of clubs will be jealous, especially if you can keep Drew for a few years and see him mature into a number one aged 20! About a point under the limit, but an all British team, excellent continuity from last season and three very good emerging young riders. Tom Brennan might drop a point and Drew put one on, so Lawson, Kerr and Newman will have to step up to be realistic challengers.
-
I think this team fits with 2.5% discounts for Nick Morris, Howarth and Mountain: Morris, Mountain, Howarth, Proctor, Douglas, Kennedy or MacDonald, Lawlor A very good team.
-
Especially if Perks was required by his parent club, Poole.
-
On the speedwaygb website there are videos of Stewart Dickson announcing the two members so far and it looks like both were from the AGM on Friday, so they probably recorded all names there and will release them day by day.
-
Think they had to; there were no team kevlars!
-
You’re only as good as your latest performance. Guess that makes us the best!
-
Don’t you think next year will be too soon for the Thompsons? They haven’t even achieved a 7 point NL average yet, which ought to be a required minimum.
-
Nah, give him a break. I like Muddlo. To be fair, he’s been in charge of Poole for nearly every year that Swindon have won the league. P.S. we do have to give Rosco time off now and again so he can count his horses.
-
Give Muddlo a break, Gavan, he had a pretty harrowing season this year with Poole and someone’s saddled him with the job again next year.
-
David Howe? Wow, good for you!
-
Yes, I know and it’s fair enough for speedway to save a few quid I suppose, but let’s not pretend that it’s a model for a fair and accurate league. It’s not. And you say “local” clashes, but that’s stretching it as travelling for 50 or 100 miles to another team in your group isn’t really local, is it? Plus, it’s often the league leaders who attract the biggest crowd.
-
We were trying to keep you afloat!
-
Or start with the league having one home and one away and then divide the table into top six and bottom six who race only against each other home and away and then have the play offs between the top three from the top six and the top three from the bottom six. Basing it on the Countdown numbers game rather than American football. Oh, no, hang on, that would be one from the top six and five from the bottom!
-
Take your point, and Rosco’s. But we’ll get over it. Maybe Poole fans will come up and support their local PL club? It’d be nice for them to see top level speedway!
-
Amended for accuracy.
-
Yes, apparently the lollipop man from outside the stadium.
-
Go on then, let’s have a bright idea. Have you started a “Save Newcastle Speedway Campaign” and raised money from local businesses?
-
Yep. “Poole are the best run club because they don’t overpay their riders and they have excellent sponsors ..... err, who unfortunately deserted the sinking ship like rats”.
-
But it’s not a good idea to have a league table skewed by teams racing some opponents more than others. That’s just daft. Why not have a proper league with 22 fixtures, one home and one away against each of the other opponents, and a separate competition divided into north and south conferences? Instead they’ve combined the two and made a pig’s ear.
-
Tonbridge?
-
On what do you base that assertion? In the CL you have 2 pointers racing against a 10 pointer (Craig Cook). In the PL you have 3 pointers racing against a 9 pointer (Jason Doyle).
