  1. Does he not have dual nationality, but has been brought up in Australia? He rode in this year’s Aussie U21 Championship. “Glasgow are delighted to announce our new signing, 16-year-old Australian prospect, Connor Bailey. The Australian is set to make his debut in British speedway following a rise through the ranks down-under, including a range of titles in both 125cc and 250cc categories.”
  2. Agreed, except that you need sufficient teams to make up a league and there has to be some degree of parity for a decent competition. Grading definitely isn’t the answer though; it’s subjective and inaccurate compared to averages. In short, it’s nonsense.
  3. Where else is he supposed to produce results? I think the young Aussies would edge this U21 meeting: Bewley, Kemp, Rowe, Flint, Palin, Gilkes, Edwards Jaimon Lidsey, Zach Cook, Jordan Stewart, Zane Kennedy, Matthew Gilmore, Connor Bailey, Jed List Unless, of course, we included Robert Lambert.
  4. You do talk some rubbish. Just compare the results of Aussies against those of the Brits over the last ten years and take a look at the riders in our leagues this year. Doyle, Batchelor and Fricke. Where were the Brits? And even the next rung down, Kurtz, Holder and Masters on a par with our best, Lambert, Cook and Bewley. All from a country that doesn’t have a league of its own. And if you put their seven best under 21 riders against ours they’d probably win despite not having ridden in our country (with the exception of Lidsey).
  5. The time might come when you eat your words regarding Jed List: http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/19581/victorian-albury-wodonga-14th-december
  6. Here’s the link, scroll down two thirds. He’s between Jordan Stewart and Lasse Bjerre. https://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/polska-2-liga-zuzlowa/statystyki
  7. True, but at least he didn’t have twenty lasts!
  8. Skorja had a few rides in Poland’s third division this year, 4 firsts, 4 seconds, 5 thirds, 5 lasts: Nick Skorja 4 matches 20 rides: 4 , 4 , 5, 5,
  9. Would he not be a 5 pointer now that he has signed in Poland?
  10. 2015, Jack Holder came in on 7 and made 7.1. There’s no real sign at the moment that Smetana or Skorja are in the same class as Holder or Kurtz. Still, I agree, it’s more exciting for Newcastle fans and the league generally that two new continentals are coming in rather than Ludwig Lindgren, Bjerre or Kus.
  11. 2014, Brady Kurtz came in on 5 and made 7.54.
  12. 2013, Max Fricke came in on 5 and made 5.8. I’m still looking for a seven pointer!
  13. To be a GP rider you need ability, physical and mental application and the money for top engines. Surely no one can deny that Robert Lambert, just 21, has the ability.
  14. Craig Cook is 32, Adam Ellis 23, so there’s every chance that Adam will beat Craig in the averages over the next few years.
  15. Out of interest, who was the last assessed rider to make a 7 point average in his first season? That’s what one of them needs to do!
  16. This year’s newcomers were a mixed bag: Agertoft and Thomsen at Birmingham failed to achieve 3 point averages; MacDonald and Kennedy at Sheffield just fell short of 4; Kacper Andersen in his first full season managed 4.86 and Grobauer 5.38. In fact, looking at 2018 and 2019, Grobauer is the only new rider to beat his assessed starting average.
  17. Here’s a link to that meeting: http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/19533/sgp-qualifier-glasgow-08-2019
  18. If you were more pleasant you might be more convincing.
  19. Thanks, but I can’t find any record of either having ridden in a professional speedway league. Would they not come in on 4 point averages and be at reserve?
  20. League speedway produces at least fifteen moments of excitement in the starts and maybe another six on track. Most football matches provide fewer.
  21. Hi Steve, What knowledge does Rod Grant have of the two new foreigners? Have they ridden in any professional leagues? Thanks.
  22. What’s he ever done? Got any links to good performances?
  23. Give your friends the anagrams, they’ll have some fun but never guess!
  24. Are you going? Regardless, don’t tell anyone and keep it quiet. Only a handful of Newcastle fans will go on here this evening.
