Agreed, it won't be done. There was no good reason why the fast track riders shouldn't have had averages in the first place & no harm in Newman & Garrity etc having a month as heatleaders.

All of the fast track riders should have averages for next year's team-building to allow the teams with last/least choice to have a stronger 1-5 & those averages should not be based on PL converted averages alone. Newman would be a steal on his. The range must be something like Benji Compton 1.5 to Newman on 5.

Can you please stop banging on about Hampel! He is just the dullest rider whether on the podiums or trailing around last . He depends too much on gating & rarely mixes it. I'd much rather see entertainers who raise their game in the GPs like Kildemand, MJJ, Zmarzlik or Jonasson or talented younger guys like the Pawlickis.

Really? I bet all clubs apart from Leicester would retain one of their FT riders, even BV with Nielsen, Wolves Morris & Lakeside Ellis, just leaving Leicester to get Charles Wright. The second choice FT riders could then be picked like last year with the team with the weakest first choice having first pick etc. I do agree that some FT riders appear ready to move into the main body of the team but only because the FT scheme weakens their heats & unfortunately there aren't enough new FT riders to replace them.

No. I think doubling up IS the answer because it's cost effective for the riders & promotions & the riders are more committed to their GB teams because most have no commitments abroad. The key is to ride PL Fri-Sat & EL Mon-Thurs with the EL teams having the best PL riders & draft riders doubling up & a few international riders. Each EL team could sign a squad of say five international riders & use three in any match. I would allow any rider who bases himself in the UK & commits to both leagues (whatever his nationality) to ride in both. EL riders with an average above 7.2 would be given a 12 PL average & Harris, Nicholls & Bridger etc could ride in both leagues.

It's clear that some Heat 10 "results" have been influenced by the requirements of one or other team rather than the safety of the riders or value for money for the paying public so at the very least a Heat 10 result should carry one less point than a full result. That way we might see genuine abandonments & re-staging.

Hmmmm change the rules to allow NKI & Ward to be replaced??? Don't remember Lynn or Poole objecting to the draft system when they bagged the best reserves or offering Swindon Charles Wright when Bates left!

So when a rider slows to let through his team mate wearing black & white is he racing or not? And when a rider has an engine problem (or clutch, like Peter) & nurses or pushes his bike home for a point is he racing or not?

In the interests of a well run meeting & the watching fans there should be a clear two-minute rule that everyone understands. Riders should not be allowed to dismount to do gardening & the last rider at the tapes should not be allowed any time to do gardening, making all four riders more eager to get there quicker!

Agreed, Gem. If we're to retain the EL as a cut above the PL all we need is a smattering of international riders to mix with doubling up PL riders but this only works without so many fixture clashes. So why not at least have PL fixtures on different days from EL fixtures (eg Fri -Sun)? Yes, EL tracks would be left to ride Mon-Thurs but they would have a much better chance of full teams. As for Tai, he can pick & choose his leagues to further his career if he wishes but he should not be allowed to represent GB if he does not ride here full-time.

If the BSPA keep the draft riders at reserve all season & race them only against each other & second strings, I agree! Some will have higher averages than their team's number one! So surely this can't be allowed? They should be included in the monthly averages & go into the 1-5 if they are doing well.
