Fair and acceptable way ? We have seen endless arguments on this forum about teams- usually Poole- getting riders on false averages. An argument that raised its head on a fairly regular basis is that there should be some sort of grading system because working purely on averages doesn't work. There are plenty of forum members that don't think it is it is a fair and acceptable way. There is a wide division of opinion on the point. Personally I think Skidder has a point. The problem with this sort of thread is that they always get hi-jacked by the usual suspects, led by yourself, that are always going to scream blue murder at anything the BSPA do, for better or worse. There have been some good posts on the thread with different points of view but the majority are incapable of judging the situation dispassionately. The bottom line is that once you have an EDR system you are going to need some protected heats, and once you have protected heats you will have skewed averages, and once you have skewed averages you need some method of dealing with them, and that in turn is going to lead to some nuances or border line cases. That is the real world. When we look at the teams that have been put together so far it seems to be the opinion of most posters that Poole and Belle Vue have strong looking sides and the rest are much of a muchness, or to put it another way round it is , broadly speaking a competitive league on paper. it's not going to be the end of the Elite League as we know it ( although other factors might cause that ) , but try taking a measured, dispassionate view, which is what Skidder is trying to do rather than going into melt down at the mere mention of the BSPA.

My match reports for Neasden F.C. in the Harlesden Recorder are always well received. Nothing wrong with Bad Manners when Buster Bloodvessel was with them. And it's E. I. Addio you.

The only issues that me and the people like me is whe n you and Red Panda make bald statements that fly in the face of common sense then can't back them up when challenged, even to the exrtent of implying Chris Holder is a liar when he talks about who he will or will not ride for.
-
I have never said I don't spout rubbish at times and when I do I get shot down, like everybody else. That's not the same as what you are doing here though which is making a statement about Chris Holder that has absolutely no factual or evidential basis whatsoever, which implies that either Holder is lying or Speedway Star are twisting the truth and printing the opposite of what he said. You didn't present that as an opinion you presented it as fact. Just as you said other promoters just sit back and wait for the fans to come to them, another statement that you couldn't, and still cant back up when asked. Opinions are one thing but I cant think of another poster on the forum, apart from Starman that consistently makes bald statements with no factual basis whatsoever. Take a deep breath and look at some of the unsubstantiated stuff you have posted, which is even making other Poole fans cringe

I agree. They have the delegated responsibility for the sport. We don't need a separate independent body making another layer of beaurocracy. The present structure is adequate, it just needs to be made to work properly, but as others have said, we don't live in a perfect world.
-
We all know that press articles SOMETIMES deviate from the truth, but unless you can produce evidence that this particular article is incorrect then it's reasonable to assume it's true. Starman has made a fool of himself and now has the good sense to keep quiet about if , you are losing whatever slim shred of credibility you may have had by clinging to the unlikely idea that Holders reported comment was the exact opposite of the truth, without a shred of proper evidence to back up your claim. Just like you said other promoters just sit back and wait for fans to come to them but you couldn't name them when I challenged you on it, just like you have been caught out spouting rubbish you couldn't back up on other occasions.

So the ACU have delegated conduct of the sport to the SCB, and the SCB have in turn delegated the day-to-day running of the sport to the BSPA. and you reckon that yet another level of bureaucracy is the answer ?

But if he had a 7.5 average he wouldn't be a second string, he would be a heatleader, even at Poole.

It really doesn't matter whether Lakeside were the only team that wanted him or not. I daresay Coventry were the only team that wanted Kasprzak, but that doesn't mean he wont necessarily do a decent job. Bjarne would not have been my first choice but as I always say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating.. He has a pretty unenviable recent record although that was with one club that didn't pay there riders and one club whose promoter and team manager are not, to put it politely the most people orientated promotion in the sport. Bjarne's personal problems last year have been documented in Speedway Star.. The jury is out on Bjarne but then again it is out on a whole host of other riders .. Admittedly he may prove to be well past his sell by date and a disastrous signing, but can anybody say with any certainty that Lindgren , Kasprzak, Bjerre, Schlein, Watt, Nicholls, Andersen, or half a dozen other key riders are going to recover their former sparkle ? Although it is a weakened league it is in many ways a competitive and unpredictable one. The One thing that can be said for Bjarne is that his record at Poole and Eastbourne shows he is a very well prepared professional on top rate equipment, and he has very wide experience. His career only really fell apart when he went to two clubs that have had trouble keeping their riders happy, I would say that IF he can start gating pretty much as well as he has done then there are few riders in this weakened league with the experience to pass him. We'll have to see, but Bjarne it is and that's who the Lakeside fans now have to get behind for better or worse.. .

By that time we' ll be into fan sharing because there won't be enough to go round.
-
Oh my goodness ! Speedwáy Star in duff information shock. How unusual.
-
If he goes there it means they would have to release Bjerre as they only have room for one more heatleader from the list. I think Bjerre is actually just what Wolves need the revive thier fortunes !.
-
So the Stars have changed their race night apparently to accommodate a new rider. It seems very unlikely that they changed it for Batch, Rory , or Lambert. So who have they changed it for ? Can't imagine them changing it for Bjerre or Pedersen (well not Bjarne Pedersen anyway, Nicki perhaps ). They have two heat leaders from the list already, so there is at best, a heat leader and a second string to come. MJJ? Who knows ?
-
Jon Cook to announce a signing on BBC Essex tomorrow. I hope it's one of the Pawlickis but somehow I doubt it. If it's Bjarne Pedersen I struggle to see what he can bring to the side that Mikkel Bech didn't . No announcement about Richard Lawson yet. If he doesn't come back it will be a massive hole to fill at second string.

I am embarrassed to say I did, living as I do in the steam age and not being up to speed with all this technology nonsense. I think I was fooled by the bit that says something about being the worlds most famous fan of the worlds most famous Speedwáy team which really sounds like the sort if wind up he used to post on here !
-
Ok, I get it now. I was confused by the fact. that Bjarne Pedersen was on the list, thinking he was a new rider but of course he isn't in the way that KK is. Since virtually everyone else on the list is more or less accounted for it is looking very much like BP is on the way to Lakeside, I am sorry to say.

If that's the case Steve then of course I totally appologise and stand corrected but you can see how the misunderstanding occurred. I don't use Twitter either but I think I came across it through a link at some stage.
-
Its not twisting and turning to use a description that someone actually uses to promote himself on twitter. That is simply stating fact. Shot yourself in the foot again there I am afraid. Bit of a whoosh in other words.
-
No, Well done Coventry . No Kasprjak on the list.
-
All factually correct . Its how Steve styles himself on twitter ! https://twitter.com/steve_shovlar
-
Whether I am a hypocrite or not is completely irrelevant to the discussion since the forum rules are that one should attack the poster and not the post. My posts are on the record to be pulled apart by anyone who can demonstrate that they are factually incorrect. Thats what a discussion forum is about. The fact that you seem only able to attack me and not factual accuracy of my posts indicates that they are generally well founded, which is perhaps more than can be said for your name calling.
-
Pity the poster who pontificates about the alleged playground behaviour of others resorts to attacking the poster and not the post, but insults are like water off a ducks back, so I shan't be losing sleep. Pity you can't deal with a post on its merits.
-
There seems to be a certain irony in that post....

I think Adams problem has been that he is quite a tall lad for a Speedwáy rider and has had trouble packing himself into a compact style. I think his style has changed quite a bit since he first started. He used to hang off the bike like a replica of Chris Holder and had led to an inordinate number of falls but I have noticed this year he has tended to sit into the bike more without the acrobatics and coupled with a bit more throttle control, and really seems to be starting to develop. A season away from Lakeside will do him good. It's a pity that Starman has to chip in and try to tell us that it's at Poole he will come on. He has been doing well at Lakeside , Ipswich and Brum, and would continue to develop wherever he went. He is still young and time is on his side.

The problem is when is a head injury not a head injury ? For example in 2013 Peter Karlsson hit the safety fence at Lakeside ,went over the handlebars and landed on his head. Not sure if he was knocked out but he was motionless for a few minutes, then was back on his feet ,withdrew from the meeting but was riding the following week with no apparent ill effects. We can imagine similar situations where a rider is ostensibly fit to ride but we finish up with yet more guests . So the point really, do we have to rely on some rule-of-thumb mandatory period of absence, which could be too long for some but not enough for others or is there some sort of scientific medical test to determine a riders fitness after concussion. I know for example that Lakeside junior, Marc Owen had to have over a year out dur to cincussion so there must be other factors or indicators that can be employed
