So Who Is Going To Win The El In 2016?
E I Addio replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Never mind the semantics, anyone reading the thread can see there is no link to support your claim about what Leigh Adams is supposed to have said, no factual support to suggest Rosco was deliberately losing "qualifiers" , and no link or other evidence to prove Batch was deliberately lowering his average, nothing at all in fact to support much of what you have said at all. Just matters of opinion unsupported by fact. Glad we cleared that up. Shame you had to resort to vulgarity though. That "holiday" can't be far off now. -

Who said I was looking under experts ? You said it would be under cheating, narrowed down to Swindon etc? Let's not beat about the bush, Frederick, there is no firm evidence that Swindon cheated is there? Only speculation. The whole line of discussion about Swindon cheating and Batch dropping his average deliberately has no firm evidence to back it up. He might have done or he might not.mwe don't really know. It's really all another of your silly fantasies. As Bwitcher says, making a fool of yourself again. Frederick H. Flange. Purveyor of Porkies. As it happens no, but it matters not. When people resort to crude and crass personal remarks it's invariably because they have lost the argument and have nothing sensible to add. But you needn't have bothered Frederick . Water off a ducks back to me and I shan't be losing any sleep over it. -

Yeah tried that but you said some forum experts have said Swindon were cheating . I can't find anyone with any special inside knowledge or expertise that backs up what you say. Thanks for your kind invitation to ask for help. The help I am asking for is can you provide a link to posts from these "experts" ? If not it's going to look like you are making it all up. -

Really ? Which forum "experts" ? I must have missed those. I remember a few posts speculating on it but nothing from anyone that could remotely be described as an "expert". You couldn't post a link by any chance could you ? Shouldn't be too difficult as its only last year. Otherwise certain disreputable individuals might infer that it's just another fantasy. -

Right then , just so we are clear on that, in answer to your own question "Didn't the Swindon team manager admit to losing qualifiers too fit Darcy in?" Orion says No , you say check they You Tube, which we all did, we seem to agree that what he actually said was "it was in the period when we were changing before Darcy came along". and now you agree there was no admission by Rosco that they intended to lose matches deliberately. So its all down to supposition . Some people may take the view Swindon cheated , others say they didn't. Nothing can be proven but certainly no admission by Swindon that they were deliberately losing matches, so I don't really see what that line of discussion adds to the topic. All clubs in all sports lose matches unintentionally whatever the nature of the competition. As for orion saying he wasn't sure if Batch was cheating or not, that was fair comment by him. . Of course Batch was having a few E.F's in suspicious circumstances but suspicion is not proof. Almost every meeting there are bike failures at some stage. That is a fact. It hasn't got much to do with the rights or wrongs of the paly offs though. -

Ah, I see now. So you are not suggesting that Rosco was saying he lost the qualifiers intentionally. The opposite of intentional is unintentional, so presumably you agree that Swindon did not intend losing any meetings last year, they just got beat by better teams on the night. Just like other clubs then. think we can probably agree on that, and move on. -

Link ? The bottom line is that in the link you posted Rosco did not say what you claimed he said. That's about all there is to it. -

Orion asked you to post a link and you posted a link to a television meeting. Why would you post a link to a television meeting if that's not what you were referring to ? The hole gets deeper. BTW we still haven't had details of the Swindon captain you referred to that you say said something to that effect years ago. -

We are not discussing how Swindon managed to fit Ward in. We are discussing your claim in post 232 that the Swindon manager admitted on national television that they had been deliberately losing qualifiers to fit Ward in. That is not what he said at all . It was a porkie on your part. -

What he actually said was "it was in the period when we were changing before Darcy came along" . He didn't say they were changing to fit Darcy in and he certainly didn't say anything about losing matches deliberately. Poor ol' Fred still doesn't realise that you can't change a fairytale into truth by putting lol or aha ha into it . -

Ouch said you "often" see that type of quote in the Star. Neither he nor you are able to give deltails of any supposed quote in that journal, so as it seems nobody else is aware of it we are entitled to assume he is mistaken about that one . So it all comes down to one quote from a captain several years ago . Can you tell us which captain it was, which match and when as you seem to remember it clearly ? Or better still post a link as Orion requested ? -
Kings Lynn V Poole Ela. 11/8/16
E I Addio replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Absolutely. The EDR did exactly what it is supposed to do with Steve, it picked up a rider with talent but down on his confidence and has made him a genuine EL second string. He is now too good for the EDR though, and shouldn't be in next years draft. I have been very impressed with his progress . Neils only problem is that he doesn't come over too well when interviewed so the windbags of the BSF who never have anything positive to say latch on to that instead of the massive effort he puts in. I don't think their opinions are worth bothering about. -
Very rare for me to defend the Shovvo but he did say it was just his opinion . Fair enough. It's a situation where there is no absolute right or wrong and it is reasonable to have differing opinions. No rules have been broken, and Wolves are entitled to bring Woofy in, but somehow it doesn't sit right with me that a rider (any rider) who says at the start of the season he doesn't want to ride in GB decides at the time the continental season is starting to wind down that maybe he wouldn't mind some extra money at the expense of a rider who has stuck with it all season. As Steve said, it's not quite the same as replacing the injured Holder. Just my opinion as well. The only other thing that occurs to me though, is that Kylmakorpi is a known moaner when things don't go his way so maybe one of the factors in the equation was that Adams didn't want someone moaning about the track or anything else in must win matches.
-
After the service he has given to British Speedwáy it would be a travesty if he is not allowed to ride PL next year, and even in the EL , if he gets his personal life sorted out he will probably do a decent job for someone on a 5 point average, certainly better than that plonker Pedersen plodding round at reserve.

What Changes Have To Be Made In 2017?
E I Addio replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
At Lakeside most meetings they have youngsters from the Hagon Shocks Academy doing 6 heats at 7.30 before the main event starts at 8 pm. Hardly anyone turns up to watch. There is hardly anybody there to see it.The vast majority of the crowd turn up between 7.45 and the 8pm. It's a good idea to give the juniors the oppotunity to move from the training track to the main track but it doesn't bring the crowds in. The juniors ride totally different lines to the seniors but when it "comes to the riders" I think that has more to do with the track conditions changing as the temperature drops and moisture from watering dries out especially if it was heavily watered dur,ing them day, but actually Leigh Lanham is the only rider Inhave ever heard use that expression. -

People are still banging on about bringing second halves back but still nobody has answered these two questions. Second halves are not going to happen until answers are found. Half the riders cant be bothered to ride in a prestigious event like the ELRC so they are not going to see much kudos in rider of the night, -
What Changes Have To Be Made In 2017?
E I Addio replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The thread is not about a saviour for the EL its about changes for 2017. Sorting out the EDR will not necessarily save the EL but it will be one less nail in the coffin, and will certainly be more beneficial to keeping the existing fans than pandering to those of yesteryear who are unlikely to return unless we revert to a 20 race programme including a second half all for £10 . It is something that needs immediate attention if the league is to be a semblance of fair competition. In all honesty, look at my suggestion and compare it with TWK's above post suggesting we simply change the names. Which one is most likely to result in something like a level playing field (or speedway track ) ? -

E I Addio replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
10 pages into a thread about next year and all we have seen are suggestions to turn the clock back 30 or 40 years. The issue above all else that needs addressing is the one that even the BSPA realise they got wrong, namely the ridiculous EDR scheme. We have to keep the EDR scheme on the grounds of cost but the following adjustments have to be made IMO:- 1. The team that finishes bottom get first pick and the team that finishes top get last pick, no ifs, no buts, no protected assets nonsense. 2. Any EDR'swhose average takes them into the 1-5 may only ride at No's 2or4. No more EDR's getting blown away in heatleader roles. 3. Get rid of the huge gap between the best and worst EDR's. It needs to be looked at carefully but should be something like EDR's to be selected from PL second strings or NL No1's. No more Newmans, Worralls, Auty's, etc dominating the EDR . riders of that standard need to earn their EL team place on merit. 4. I am tempted to say that reserves be limited to six rides. I invite opinions on that. I can see flaws in the suggestion which others might be able to improve upon but we need to stop bona fide second strings and heatleaders dropping to reserve and being able to score 18 or 20 points. Riders like Lewis Bridger, Bjarne Pedersen, and Nikolai Klindnt should never be in protected heats against genuine EDRs -
Lakeside-v- Belle Vue 5 Th August.
E I Addio replied to E I Addio's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well, well, well, I didn't expect that. Zagars absence levelled the playing field, gave the Kennet-less Hammers an olive branch that they grabbed and probably cost the Aces the MAtch, but along the line it produced s very tense and from Laakesides perspective exciting meeting. Everybody tried hard, everybody had a slice of the action at some stage. And there was plenty of passing. You can't ask that from any of the riders ( well some of the usual moaners would but not your normal fan). I have to say I went with a heavy heart when I knew Kennett would be missing but full marks to all the riders for putting on an entertaining meeting. Lakeside breath a sigh of relief as they claim the three points to keep their play off hopes alive, Belle Vue deservedly get a point, All those that went should be happy with that. Some excellent reserve switches by Kelvin so that Rob Mear only had to beat Joe Jacobs in three of his races, but very well done to Rob and Lewi Kerr who tore the form book up in heat 12 to put 5-1 over Richie Worrall that effectively sealed the match for Lakeside. Lakeside also only had six riders! -

AJ can ride snywhere well, Kim does well on the bigger tracks in Sweden, Lewi Kerr is a KIngs Lynn asset, Ed and Rich are top of the PL averages and score well on virtually all the PL tracks wherever they go. Lewis Bridger is a bit of an enigma but suffers from lack of regular racing but suffers under the daft ruling that allows Team GB members to ride PL for regular racing and regular money but not Bridger.. Rob Mear is simply a bad pick. Quite why they travel so badly is a difficult one to solve, but the fact remains that going into this match with /r/r for Ed is a masterpiece of bad planning -

20 heats of racing in individual meetings if that is the criteria, and the second halves which you miss are, to all intents and purposes mini individual meetings. Be honest and say you have simply got out of the habit. Many people do. It's happened to me in the past. -

The race format has changed since the days of the second half. These days the top men have raced each other at least twice, usually three times by the end of the match. Is there really going to be the same interest in seeing them race yet again in the second half. I used to like all the old palava like scratch races , Golden Helmet , Juniors and so on but times have changed and you can't put the clock back. -

E I Addio replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Sid, I know what you are saying but Moxeys point was to reduce costs but cutting 15 heats down to 13 . You are not going to cut costs but cutting out 2 heats from the main event then having four heats and a final to pay for in the second half. If money were no object I would say yes, have a second half but the reality is its not financially viable these days, and won't be for the foreseeable future.
