  1. Nothing wrong with ex-fans giving an opinion, but the trouble is most of them can't say what they want to say and leave at that, They have to keep repeating the same old points again and again and again. Boring. The other thing that applies to the majority of posters, both present and ex-fans is that they come out with these bright ideas with no thought to the cost side of things. Every idea has to be funded somehow and nobody wants to pay more in admission. Then we have the classic "think outside the box" as if there were viable ideas out there waiting for someone to find them. Most promoters worth their salt have at least one, sometimes two fans forums a year where they meet their paying public face to face. That is the ones that count, that pay to go through the turnstiles and are sufficiently interested to turn up. Of course some fans can't make it due to work etc, but these forums usually contain a pretty fair cross section of those who put their hand in their pocket opposed to those who sit behind their keyboards moaning for the sake of it (I.e. Moxey 63 etc). I would have thought the test is whether the promoters can be bothered to meet the fans, not whether they trawl through the build on Internet forums
  2. Kelvin said at the fans forum at the start of the season that he wanted to make the home track a fortress, which he has pretty much done except when a few of the team went to sleep against the Poole select. It's the same every year though, irrespective of who is in the team, someone always seems to go awol at the away matches they could realistically get a point, even riders like AJ , and Peter Karlsson who can usually ride anywhere have had duff nights when if they rode to form there could well have been a point in it. As you say though , it's pretty good business in the sense that the home crowd do get behind the home team pretty well, and the riders do seem individually popular with the crowd. Overall, you get far less complaints about the team on here than you get from the fans of any other club so it must have something, although I am not quite sure what. When you have riders like Scott Nicholls and Craig Cook tweeting or saying they liked the atmosphere when they visited I suppose that says something. I think allowing the fans in the pits before and after the meeting to see the riders up close helps. As far as I know, no other clubs allow that. I don't see things changing much on the road though, unless they can find a good reliable second heatleader who can ride most awar tracks, someone like Adam Shields in the sort of form he was in around 2008/9/10, until injuries took their toll. I don't think it is home track advantaged so much as the tendency to pick riders who are good on that sort of track. Riders like Ed Kennett, Dave Watt and PK always rode the track well even before they were Hammers. I suppose it is a question of knowing what your fans want. Some of Ed Kennets passes round the boards this year have been absolutely brilliant. It would be nice if he could do it away as well but does it really matter if I am not at the away track to see it? Rich Lawson is a better point scorer overall and has beaten some big names on away tracks, but he is more of a gater and if he hasn't made the pass by bend 2 he often doesn't make it whereas Kennet can pull out some great passes even on the last lap so he basically is the one that pulls the fans in (therefore rider of the year 2015) . An enigma though.
  3. The weakness of the EDR system . If your reserves can't cut it you are more or less stuck with them for the season.
  4. The original fixture was rained of and with the congested fixture list at this end of the season it was either take the fixture or forfeit the points. Maybe forfeiting the points would have been the better option.Or maybe forfeiting Lewis Bridger.
  5. The trouble is, as with a number of other teams, who are you realistically going to get in on the right average that's guaranteed to be any better than what you already have? Riders are not exactly queuing up to ride over here. I think Kings Lynns problem is not riders so much as the track. It's been gate and go for a long time and getting progressively more so. With all due respect to Rohan Tungate, there is no way he should be scoring 14 on a decent track. Neils was moaning about the poor quality of some UK tracks last year, and was reluctant to return this year but if he is not at a home track where he can score points he may well decide he's had enough. Also Rory and Troy. I know they can be a bit erratic but they are not bad riders, both experienced at home and abroad at the top level, and need to score points to earn a living. Far better to work with them than gamble on some untried foreign rider, but from what the KL fans say, and from the results we see, there does seem to be some serious disconnect between KL management and the riders. This after all, is not far removed from the KL side that was a serious contender for the Chamionship a couple of seasons back, and on paper should be doing better than this. What happens at KL should be a worry to all fans because we cannot afford to lose a single EL club , but other than Leicester KL seem to have the most discontented fans in the EL and that is not good. I hope for everyone's sake Chapman gets his act together.
  6. The operative words in my post were "attention seekers" . I don't think anyone (except you perhaps )would put either Stevebrum of forever blue in that category . It's pretty clear though, from all that has been posted that plenty put you in that category. People reading the thread will form their own opinions however much you wriggle around and try to play with words. Keep digging. It cuts no ice with me.
  7. No I don't find it offensive. Why should I ? I just get bored with attention seekers who hi-Jack match threads for their own ends. Now if you have nothing constructive to say about the Wolves v Lakeside match, perhaps we can move on.
  8. Well as you asked what I think, I think you are both rude and obnoxious, with absolutely no interest in the thread topic under discussion namely Wolves-v-Lakeside, a trouble maker, a flawed personality that turns up on thread after thread calling people names, unable to communicate with people in a civilised manner, and the forum would be better off without you, so ,it seems do a number of others judging by their comments I don't think stevebrums comments were racist or offensive. I do think you reaction was boorish, churlish and childish.I know for a fact that others have made similar comments about stevebrums accent and it has been taken in good heart as part of the banter of the forum. A great pity you can't just grow up. For the avoidance of doubt I don't intend my comments to be offensive but you did ask what I think, now you know.
  9. If you think he is being as bad as racist why don't you put your money where you mouth is and report him to the mods, and if they do nothing report him to the police, who will no doubt support you if you are right. Of course if you keep whinging on about it but take no action you will only show yourself to be the trouble making, trolling, empty vessel which we all suspect you are anyway , CLANG ! CLANG ! CLANG !
  10. The same could probably be said about most threads that Fred the Troll pollutes. As usual, nothing constructive to be said about the match that the thread is discussing, just Fred peddling his usual boring old personalised drivel that nobody cares about. No law against riding your. Speedway bike Stevebrum if that's what you want to do and you don't have to justify it to some troll but please stop feeding it so we can get back on topic.
  11. Sounds good. The original High Noon had the greatest movie theme song ever. They could get a Tex Ritter sound alike and synchronise it with David Gordon singing modified lyrics :- "Ford spent 5years inside the state prison, It's gonna be my team or his'n, I'm not afraid to lose but oh, What will I do if he's cheating?" Throw in Grace Kelly lookalikes as start line girls, and Speedwáy is back in the map (maybe). P.S. The original starred Gary Cooper the greatest actor ever. ( Sorry, I''m getting carried away now)
  12. Why don't you try it ? Then you can tell us whether it works and how much it costs, and the riders can tell us if it causes unwanted grip. Somehow I don't think we will be hearing a success story, but we'll see.
  13. Never mind the semantics, anyone reading the thread can see there is no link to support your claim about what Leigh Adams is supposed to have said, no factual support to suggest Rosco was deliberately losing "qualifiers" , and no link or other evidence to prove Batch was deliberately lowering his average, nothing at all in fact to support much of what you have said at all. Just matters of opinion unsupported by fact. Glad we cleared that up. Shame you had to resort to vulgarity though. That "holiday" can't be far off now.
  14. Who said I was looking under experts ? You said it would be under cheating, narrowed down to Swindon etc? Let's not beat about the bush, Frederick, there is no firm evidence that Swindon cheated is there? Only speculation. The whole line of discussion about Swindon cheating and Batch dropping his average deliberately has no firm evidence to back it up. He might have done or he might not.mwe don't really know. It's really all another of your silly fantasies. As Bwitcher says, making a fool of yourself again. Frederick H. Flange. Purveyor of Porkies. As it happens no, but it matters not. When people resort to crude and crass personal remarks it's invariably because they have lost the argument and have nothing sensible to add. But you needn't have bothered Frederick . Water off a ducks back to me and I shan't be losing any sleep over it.
  15. Yeah tried that but you said some forum experts have said Swindon were cheating . I can't find anyone with any special inside knowledge or expertise that backs up what you say. Thanks for your kind invitation to ask for help. The help I am asking for is can you provide a link to posts from these "experts" ? If not it's going to look like you are making it all up.
  16. Really ? Which forum "experts" ? I must have missed those. I remember a few posts speculating on it but nothing from anyone that could remotely be described as an "expert". You couldn't post a link by any chance could you ? Shouldn't be too difficult as its only last year. Otherwise certain disreputable individuals might infer that it's just another fantasy.
  17. Right then , just so we are clear on that, in answer to your own question "Didn't the Swindon team manager admit to losing qualifiers too fit Darcy in?" Orion says No , you say check they You Tube, which we all did, we seem to agree that what he actually said was "it was in the period when we were changing before Darcy came along". and now you agree there was no admission by Rosco that they intended to lose matches deliberately. So its all down to supposition . Some people may take the view Swindon cheated , others say they didn't. Nothing can be proven but certainly no admission by Swindon that they were deliberately losing matches, so I don't really see what that line of discussion adds to the topic. All clubs in all sports lose matches unintentionally whatever the nature of the competition. As for orion saying he wasn't sure if Batch was cheating or not, that was fair comment by him. . Of course Batch was having a few E.F's in suspicious circumstances but suspicion is not proof. Almost every meeting there are bike failures at some stage. That is a fact. It hasn't got much to do with the rights or wrongs of the paly offs though.
  18. Ah, I see now. So you are not suggesting that Rosco was saying he lost the qualifiers intentionally. The opposite of intentional is unintentional, so presumably you agree that Swindon did not intend losing any meetings last year, they just got beat by better teams on the night. Just like other clubs then. think we can probably agree on that, and move on.
  19. Link ? The bottom line is that in the link you posted Rosco did not say what you claimed he said. That's about all there is to it.
  20. Orion asked you to post a link and you posted a link to a television meeting. Why would you post a link to a television meeting if that's not what you were referring to ? The hole gets deeper. BTW we still haven't had details of the Swindon captain you referred to that you say said something to that effect years ago.
  21. We are not discussing how Swindon managed to fit Ward in. We are discussing your claim in post 232 that the Swindon manager admitted on national television that they had been deliberately losing qualifiers to fit Ward in. That is not what he said at all . It was a porkie on your part.
  22. What he actually said was "it was in the period when we were changing before Darcy came along" . He didn't say they were changing to fit Darcy in and he certainly didn't say anything about losing matches deliberately. Poor ol' Fred still doesn't realise that you can't change a fairytale into truth by putting lol or aha ha into it .
  23. Ouch said you "often" see that type of quote in the Star. Neither he nor you are able to give deltails of any supposed quote in that journal, so as it seems nobody else is aware of it we are entitled to assume he is mistaken about that one . So it all comes down to one quote from a captain several years ago . Can you tell us which captain it was, which match and when as you seem to remember it clearly ? Or better still post a link as Orion requested ?
  24. Absolutely. The EDR did exactly what it is supposed to do with Steve, it picked up a rider with talent but down on his confidence and has made him a genuine EL second string. He is now too good for the EDR though, and shouldn't be in next years draft. I have been very impressed with his progress . Neils only problem is that he doesn't come over too well when interviewed so the windbags of the BSF who never have anything positive to say latch on to that instead of the massive effort he puts in. I don't think their opinions are worth bothering about.
