  1. There is a valid point that, before a rider will be coming in from overseas he will be good enough in his homeland for both the rider himself and the club he is joining to feel the journey is justified. Even a newcomer to these shores will be one of the top unsigned guys from his own patch. So a "largely unknown" Argentinean, to use the example offered by Villers210, who has already sampled UK conditions, raced in a GP Challenge event and two World U-21 Finals is yes, probably a better bet for Sheffield than a second NL Brit. Most important of all, and this is the problem for Joe Jacobs (who most certainly appears to have great potential) is that the Argentinean will almost-immediately become an asset at Sheffield, who have stated a determination to build an asset-base as a primary objective. Who does young Joe "belong" to?
  2. Are Berwick Rangers suddenly feeling flush, after a home Scottish Cup game on Sky against Celtic a year or two back, now two full-house home games with Rangers this season, at least one being on live TV? They'll be quids in just now! So, for the first time in years and years, they probably don't need speedway's rent money. But what goes around comes around, and with Rangers disappearing upwards, and the inevitable league reconstruction giving the lower-order clubs even less revenue in future, pie-in-the-sky dreams of a new stadium should be forgotten. Hopefully.
  3. Berwick had him in the 1-7 until Alden bolted. He'll start at 5.00, and Plymouth would definately have done better to look at Albin ahead of the also-rumoured Filip Sitera, who must have been the biggest-possible disappointment of 2012 for Berwick, King's Lynn and Glasgow. But I fear he's going elsewhere.
  4. Why are you asking? He's signing for someone else, not the Devils.
  5. Are you sure the No 1 will be captain? Website says he will lead the team, but I took that as meaning his scoring. Was it announced last night?
  6. Sheffield are presumably beginning to rebuild an asset roster, and will be looking to Jake Knight, Facundo Albin (if he's in the plans, as is rumoured) and Damian Koppe to begin the process. All three with huge potential in years to come. The criticism of Jake Knight (probably by people who have been shouting for "more Brits in the PL") is depressing.
  7. Actually, closing down (although they surely won't) wouldn't stop the loan fees accruing. Tony Mole was trousering a handy fee for Carl Stonehewer for years and years after Long Eaton shut up shop. But it does seem Berwick have suffered from Alden's ambition to go big league -- and probably because they are aiming to meet the Premier League's salary cap, which might not be the case for all the PL clubs.
  8. Max Fricke seemed at one time likely to be Ashfield-bound. Circumstances (Sunday, not Friday, and some administrative changes) would suggest this less likely now
  9. A bit late, I fear! He's been already sold to Workington
  10. Of course, if Monarchs refuse Tigers permission to share Fridays, the derbies presumably won't be happening.......
  11. Micky Dyer is 'owned' by Gary Patchett, regardless of it being Swindon or Dudley.
  12. Twitter-moans, but no official criticism from any riders or team managers, I have been told. FIM and media information coming back is positive. I would predict Argentina will become more and more accepted as a speedway nation as more and more of their riders travel overseas. Anyone thinking that, if it were to run on the same basis as 2012, a rider with a chance of winning a World Title "won't be there" may want to think again. My source has been very positive -- and he is Danish!
  13. Triffic. Can you suggest which multi-national tyre company would be prepared to come onto the speedway market AND undercut Mitas?
  14. No backlash, you've made a point. We've pointed out the younger members of the Bandits' promotion but you want a teenager on board, as I understand you to be saying. So do you know a rich kid (to buy into any promotion you need money) with bright, 21st century ideas? Bring him or her on! But, as Large Edward has asked you above -- what would your bright young, businesslike ideas be? Jonathon is a good example of a younger person getting a run at promotion. But to be honest, he's not much younger than Ryan Anderson or George Hepburn these days, is he?
  15. Honda wasn;t the answer. Power-to-weight ration was hopeless. has to be looked at. But the idea of some type of standardisation is a way forward
  16. Yeah, drugged-up twenty-somethings! Bring 'em on!
  17. Do we know the weather in Bahia Blanca tonight? There were tweets about horrendous thunderstorms yesterday.
  18. We must hope the 2013 U-21 Finals have better English representation than this year, with just one qualifier (who was sadly sidelined early on). Although the Berwick round will have two home-nation wildcards as well as any Brits who have qualified through the rounds. After Cardiff and the WTC meetings at King's Lynn, this must be the most-important speedway event in the UK next year.
  19. Certainly looks the form horse in that one. But chains can break, plug leads can come off, who knows? Remember Chris Holder in the race after he clinched his world title? Fat lady. Song.
  20. Don't be silly. Terrible suggestion. Where's the saving for a "southern" section containing Scunthorpe and Sheffield, for starters? Redcar would much prefer the comparatively-short trips to both the above circuits than regularly hauling themselves on 400-mile round trips to Armadale or Ashfield.
  21. No chance of Nelson, who (if he is released from Australia to ride in UK is at Rye House) so put Facundo Albin in his place and you've got a pretty fair team, with a lot of potential and the all-important ability to please at home. Only problem is only four are assets (providing Bellego get the the nod) and there might be a case for trying to buy contracts of Dyer and Smith. Ricky AShworth is a little bit too old for what would be a ma\jor investment at this time.
