Comets Vs Leicester Sat 1st Sept 7pm
Liz !!! replied to madsteve's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Where did I say the meeting not called off because of a waterlogged track ? This morning the track was waterlogged, the forecast was for persistent rain from 6pm, the decision was made on the information available at that time, ie waterlogged track and persistent rain forecast. The forecast may well be inaccurate but there is no way of being 100% certain. I dont know why you think the track is fine, and many meetings have been called off based on weather forecasts. As I have said the decision was not taken lightly and without a lot of consideration and consultation. At this moment in time it is indeed dry and windy and I have no doubt the track surface is drying out now, hopefully we will have a fine week and good racing surface can be prepared for next weeks meeting. -

I dont normally reply but on this occasion will make an exception, I was at the track when it was called off this morning, as were the promotors and team manager. The decison was not taken lightly and was made as the track was very waterlogged after yesterday's rain and the forecast for today shows persistent rain to come in from 6pm. The decison was made based on the information available at the time. Northside is on today but is a training facility and they are not running a league meeting, its a much smaller track, and the cost to them to be open today is minimal compared to that of running a full Premier League meeting, plus the time they are running is before the expected changes to the weather. The management and volunteers down at the track are there every race day working from early morning until well after the meeting finishes and strive to ensure that meetings go ahead, no promoter doesnt want to run meetings as they will incur a hefty fine if they dont complete their fixtures, they also stand to lose considerable amounts if meetings are abandoned etc. They are damned if they do and damned if they dont. -

Bring all the reference numbers relevant to your booking and take it up with them at the stadium office on the day, they have had your money long enough, make sure you get a good deal ! -
Ive visited Paradise Park both before and since the museum opened and to be honest the Park is excellent value for money especially for younger children, the museum is a bonus for speedway fans, its not a place to go to for a couple of hours, its perfect for a full day out from the time it opens right up to closing time

The postcode for the wind farm which is directly opposite the training track is CA14 1NG this is also the same postcode for the Allerdale Motor Project which is right next to the track I would think that this would get you there, the track is fairly simple to find and I would imagine every effort will be made to signpost the venue on the day -

Wouldnt panic too much, the live feed has been lost for some time now and there is no speedway to be seen.....they are basically relaying the results at the moment and speculating on them -
Well we made our trip to the speedway museum and I have to say its excellent, despite being a relative newbie to the sport having only started going in 2000, it was good to see the massive amount of memorabilia that builds up and creates the history of the sport. The museum on the day was manned by volunteers Terry Stone and Sid who were to say the least friendly, fun and informative and we thoroughly enjoyed the day although I didnt spend as much time in the museum as my partner and his uncle did they both being much longer serving fans of the sport than me! As admission to the Museum is included in the overall Park admission of £12 for adults then its imperative that you allow enough time to look round the wonderful wildlife park that Pete Sampson has created. The Park is well laid out and immaculately presented with shows and feeding of the animals at regular intervals throughout the day. There are food outlets and a bar and plenty of picnic areas should you wish to take your own food. The gift shop is well stocked and is inexpensive. A small paddling pool is close to the museum for younger children so all in all it provides an excellent family day out and caters for people of all ages. Congratulations to George and Linda Barclay for their dedicated work in fundraising for and creating the museum, it will get bigger for sure

Thanks for that Norbold.....
