Classic KKS. Getting all excited and predicting each team’s future. Got quite a few user names on the go at the moment I notice too.
-
But re gain the ones that have simply given up fighting the traffic!
-
Disappointing to lose one of Doyle/Morris. For me it has to be Nick Morris to keep his place. He’s ready to step up to the plate and become a number one now. Moreover, he is more of a team man. Make him skipper too.
-
Whilst I agree that the Robins must keep hold of their prize asset, I guess he can now ask whatever money he wants now he’s the champ. The only stumbling block to him signing again could be his affordability now.
-
He’d be a decent addition to the side, but certainly not to “lead” the side, if that’s what you meant.
-
All that comes after he/she has worried where their next shilling is coming from.....
-
Self employed businessmen don’t worry about anything apart from where their next shilling is coming from.
-
Worry about the fans or the team? When was any speedway rider worried about either of those?
-
A few mechanical problems? His performances were costing the team big time. He was given time but didn’t cut the mustard. Hougaard wasn’t brought in to replace Tungate either. And of course you knew that Hougaard (who was on a bargain average) would perform so poorly didn’t you? Tungate’s performances in the premiership have been hit or miss with Swindon,Somerset and Belle Vue. If every time an Aussie rider was judged on their performances in Australia, we might have chosen Justin Sedgemen as our number one bas3d on his performances in the Aussie championship early this year!

Yep, agreed, the racing was first class and the regulars were royally entertained most weeks. I have to say also that Somerset riders generally have a pretty good relationship with the home fans. Charles Wright is very popular and almost always celebrates a race win by doing ‘high fives’ along the back straight with the fans. Equally, Josh Graczjonek is a well respected skipper who generally takes time out to speak to the fans. The home support quickly took to Richard Lawson and he in turn gave them his time with his own specialty victory laps. Jake Allen is another rider who the fans enjoy. Always ready to talk on the ‘mike’ and his third bend ‘dive bombs’ have become legendary. Those 4 hopefully will form the core of the 2018 side. Don’t be surprised if Mr May comes up with an excellent signing to compliment that line up.

Hans produced two little master classes at the OTA this last season. Several brilliant rides to keep the opposition out. He is real class (and nasty with it when he wants). He’d be a great signing for the Rebels.

KKS is on his/her school holidays Hagon, so it’s definitely weirdo season.

No, I don’t agree. Nick has done just fine. Not huge improvement year on year, but gradual. He is now on the cusp of taking a big step in his career and he has stated the GP is his target next season. What he does need is the extra responsibility of being number one at Swindon and also the captaincy. But, now more than ever in my opinion he needs consistency and therefore another season at Swindon. Say it enough that he needs another club and he will believe it. Careful what you wish for folks.

Richly deserved. Most improved, best team man. Future captain.

Hey Gater, you seem to be paying the Swindon thread plenty of attention. You getting tempted to come back from the dark side to support the Robins again? Didn't you desert the Robins a couple of years ago when the Pirates won the league? Keep on keeping on and one day someone will take you seriously.

I'm not sure that line up is strong enough Brummie Rebel. Certainly decent enough at home and would take some beating at the OTA. Despite the attractive average for Hougaard, I'm not sure the management would take a chance with him. Personally I thought he was bitterly disappointing all season. I'd like the Rebels to go with an established number one, supported by Josh, Lawson and Wright. Zach to return at reserve maybe?

Is 2018 going to be the year for Nick Morris. Following his disappointing season in 2016, he really stepped up this year and hopefully he will win the rider of the season award. Certainly his last bend pass of Masters was a massive contribution to winning at Monmore. Will Rosco go with Morris at one and have more evenly balanced side? I for one think he is finally ready to not only take the number one spot, but also to skipper the side.

Somerset V Wolverhampton 22.9.17
EnglishRoundabout replied to Cliffeboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
A decent end of season match to conclude a reasonable season for the Rebels. Although unlikely to pull back the deficit, Somerset battled hard all the way. Led by skipper for the night Charles Wright, who despite starting the meeting slowly, livened up the crowd with his usual dare devil riding. Interesting that that his rival skipper also for the night was Rory Schlein who enraged Wright with some tough riding in the last match at the OTA between the sides. Once again the two were involved in a terrific race when Wright came from third to first, thanks to some superb team riding by Jake Allen, who thwarted Schlein's every move around the white line to allow his partner to scorch around the outside for a thrilling victory. Kyle Howarth continued his impressive form at the OTA this year, riding aggressively in each season of his races. The rest of the Wolves side had a distinctly end of season feel about it. Richard Lawson stood out for the Rebels racing to a superb paid maximum. Sharp from the tapes, he never looked in any trouble once he hit the front. Lawson has proved a popular signing by Garry May and he revealed in the after match interview that he will be moving in the winter to nearby Worcestershir. Certainly he would be welcomed back in 2018 by the majority of Somerset fans. A word for Edward Kennett after he stood in for the injured Patrick Hougaard at short notice. After falling on his own in heat one, he had one of his better meetings in recent times at Somerset. -
Speedway is so unpredictable and who would have thought Wolves could have won at Blunsdon against the odds. However, I'm going to be frank here....Swindon's record at Monmore is poor. I've also previously said that unfortunately Morris and Doyle are always liable to the odd exclusion in a vital race (Morris proved my point in the home leg). This is a bridge too far for the Robins. Wolves attitude at Blunsdon has to be admired. A monumental win. Their momentum will carry them to back to back title wins.
