  1. How could anyone use their handbag against someone dressed in purple chino's?
  2. Interesting that the negative Devils fans ( you know the ones who predict such doom and gloom) haven't been posting on here of late. I suppose once Plymouth start winning, they stop going?
  3. I think those conversations go on each week starry. It's a difficult one regarding how much water to put on the track. The weather seems to have a huge part to play also. (Wind, warmth etc). Evenly matched sides for tomorrow but can't see anything other than a Rebels win. Brady and Josh on fire and Richie due a big score at the OTA. Ollie Greenwood looking to improve each week, Wrighty the usual all action second string, and Starkey liable to come up with a double figure score. 10 point win for the Rebs.
  4. Absolutely no chance whatsoever of Lanham being replaced. I've not heard of any Rebels fans calling for him to be replaced. He's very popular at Somerset and as stated, sticking two points on your average is exactly what his signing was all about. Leigh is not only a 100% trier, but a terrific team man too. I can't think of a rider who on getting a paid maximum only a few weeks back, received such applause from the crowd. Lewy, hows the Devils recent up surge in form affected the crowds down at the SBA?
  5. Interesting that you found the racing disappointing googlehead. Depends I suppose on the standards you are used to. From my recollection, after heat 4 there was passing and re passing in almost every race. Some stunning passes from Starke, rounding both Redcar riders in one swoop on bends 3/4. Josh's sublime cutback on Kus and Bellego's pass of Worrall spring to mind. Sure, it did get dusty, but it was literally steaming hot last night and the track had been heavily watered before the racing started. Looking forward to what should be a classic against Edinburgh on Tuesday.
  6. i It must be posh Chalks....Mrs Roundabout and I saw Kate Moss in one of the lovely tea rooms off the high street!
  7. It's been the same for the last 4 or 5 years Coombers. The WTC seems to take centre stage during July, and those vital weeks when the children are off school are missed. It's been said before that folk can easily get out of the habit of going to speedway if the fixtures aren't regular and consistent enough.
  8. Nowadays KKS dons Poole colours so not many blonde Danes to fantasise about.
  9. I'm sure you have posted that with your tongue firmly in your cheek SpecialOne. I'm not so sure it will be easy at all. Wolves have recently beaten a couple of decent sides at Monmore and Lindgren has at last looked like the class rider he is. This will be a tough match. Probably a last heat decider.
  10. Are they that similar? Haven't been to Kirky Lane, but Monmore is one of the best racetracks in my opinion, just don't get that impression from other supporters and riders.
  11. R/R I think. If Redcar avoid 60 points then they would have done well. Of course, best wishes to Lewis who was also involved in an awful looking crash at Somerset recently. Josh will no doubt have the crash on his mind and it will undoubtedly be a difficult night for him. However, these blokes are made of steel and I fancy him to get stuck in and max out!
  12. You're not a bad lad brum. Does make me laugh though when I read various posters have others on ignore. Isn't this forum for grown ups?
  13. Chalkie's rolling in it Haydon.... Must be, living in leafy Lechlade
  14. To be fair to Plymouth, it wasn't just their reserves that did well, the whole team contributed. When they didn't gate, they fought tooth and nail to get to the front. It was one of the most complete away performances that I have witnessed.
  15. The back street bogs are "the old days'. A hedge and bucket is luxury compared to the back straight bogs.
  16. A well deserved victory for a very motivated Devils side who were well up for the challenge. It's a long time since Risager performed as well as he did tonight. He fought for every point, regularly coming from the back. Fisher was fast and as combative as ever. Jack Holder looked a very exciting prospect and both Todd Kurtz and Kyle Newman were in fine form. For the Rebels, it was simply a poor day at the office. Kurtz looked fast in his last two races when the meeting had been well and truly lost. Worrall's perfromances are becoming a concern at the OTA and there were some cries of derision from the home crowd after his tactical race ended in him coming a poor last. Many Rebels fans left before the end and the usual end of meeting dust in the mouth somehow tasted so much worse!
  17. Super win for the Robins. Must admit I feared the worse when I saw the score half way through the meeting. Going back a few pages on this thread I noticed Batch getting some stick. I have to agree that often when it matters most, Batch fails to deliver, and for me, his general form this season he has been poor. Luckily, the development of both Morris and Zengi have compensated. In recent seasons in crucial races, especially against Poole, he has shut off when things have got close when racing Darcy Ward and Chris Holder, who are always totally committed. We Batch pull out of similar situations in the Swedish GP on Saturday. That said, he did well at Wolves, so hopefully he will kick on and inspire the team into the play offs.
  18. Great atmosphere! Hope you got them ok! Or even got them home ok!
  19. Definitely one of the toughest tasks for the Rebels this season. The Witches have slowly got to grips with the OTA over the last 2/3 years, and in Danny King, they have a real threat at number one. Somerset have started slowly in quite a few meetings this season, and have been level at the half way mark, or even behind slightly. However, they have then gone on to completely dominate the opposition. I fancy the Witches to be on level terms for most of this match, but the Rebs to take the win by six points.
  20. A thumping win for the Rebels. Glasgow kept them honest for the first half of the meeting before Somerset found their gating gloves. For the Tigers, Lawson looked good initially before fading, suffering recurring mechanical problems. Summers looked to have found some speed mid meeting, before he faded too. Jorgensen let the team down with his impatatience at the tapes, but otherwise looked competitive. Kurtz once again looked in magnificent form and Leigh Lanham proved once again what an astute signing he has been with a memorable paid maximum. The bruised and battered Charles Wright and Paul Starke provided the usual entertainment, hunting down their prey before swooping and stealing points from the back in almost all of their races.
  21. Phew! Glad I'm one of them Gater1 Incidentally, Steve Shovlar changed his allegiance from Swindon to Poole in the late seventies. I thought for a minute you could be Shov, but there again, not even Shov would wear purple chinos.
  22. Easy win for the Rebels. At full strength and the top 6 in great form. R/r weakens the Tigers considerably.
  23. I recall a meeting at Eastville with Jan Andersson top scoring for the Robins. That must have been 76 or 77. Saw the final meeting at Smallmead. I remember before the meeting starting, a lonely figure stood on the grass bank gazing at the track in what must have been him reminiscing. It was the great Anders Michanek.
