  1. Shame people don't come back week after week anymore just for the smell and the noise! I guess the majority want much more than that before they part with their cash. Speedway presentation has never been particularly contemporary. I started going in the early 70's at Swindon, and as a youngster I had never heard of the music being played. It was all early 60's music. It wasn't until around 75/76 that more up to date music was played. The year after we even progressed to a 'roving Mike man' on the centre green! From then on, things gradually improved (except of course for our infamous back straight bogs)
  2. Sid, if I'm honest, I can't see speedway at the new track in 2016. I do believe there will be a new track, but not next year. Good to see you back.
  3. Can't the green gunk be splattered over the walls in the new bogs? Sentimental value and all that?
  4. What a short memory you have! Sure, Brady tailed off towards the end of the season for well documented reasons, but let's remember how he led the side superbly until mid August. In addition, I'm sure the Sheffield and Peterborough fans would snap him up as their number one given half a chance. From memory oldtimer, you don't go too often do you?
  5. Potential to improve? Can't see it to be honest. Lost his bottle. And it often rains in England so we have the odd wet track from time to time.
  6. Looking at those golden oldies at the farewell meeting, can anyone tell me which rider was the one who was slightly hunched over?
  7. Burnt his bridges in his play off performances and turned the majority of his faltering support against him with his ill judged and poorly thought out "speech" prior to the farewell meeting.
  8. I take it you will be returning to the new Blunsdon (when it's built) to support your mother club?
  9. Sadly yes, but I'm a bit uncomfortable about doing it voluntary, especially with the storms coming!
  10. The pay isn't to be sniffed at Haydon. Sid was specifically chosen for the role and won't give it up easily.
  11. Temporary seating and retractable roof on the bogs? My, it does sound like state of the art stuff!
  12. Do ou know you mentioned crap five times?
  13. He's a good egg Hagon and clearly loves his speedway. Knowing Sid, he will be back!
  14. What and get some experience on the bigger tracks?
  15. Blimey simmer down ATB! In any case, is Somerset that much of a big track? By my reckoning there are only 4 tracks in the PL that are smaller than the OTA Edinburgh, Rye House, Redcar and Plymouth. Of those tracks, Kurtz has scored ok at Redcar and Plymouth. He openly admits he doesn't like Edinburgh, and he is joined in his dislike for that track by Jason Doyle (sorry to name drop again!!)
  16. Gater1? Wonder what team he will support next year?
  17. Forgot to mention the points scored by this 18 year old riding at number one for Sheffield and Peterborough too.....his form dipped after his friend and room mate got seriously injured.
  18. Sound thinking? Really? Let Brady go because he's not a number one yet? He's 19 years old for gods sake, he's learning his trade!! Throws away too many points??? What about the points he scored throughout the season? What about the fact that at 18 years old in only his second season of PL racing he ousted Josh from the number one position?? I recall a very young Jason Crump making mistakes and 'throwing points away' from time to time. Sound thinking my Arsenal.
  19. To be fair, I didn't see half as many cockroaches and wood lice gathered around the toilet seats on Sunday. The fetching blue paint had also freshened things up compared to the off white brown stained walls that had remained since the 60's.
  20. 7 years? Easily before that. On the subject of wanting pastures new, firstly, Brady loves it at Somerset. His Father Steve specifically requested that his son rode for the club in the first place. Brady is undecided at the moment whether he will double up or ride full time in the EL. If he doubles up, it will be with Somerset and Poole.
  21. Just to slightly lighten the subject, as I approached our infamous back straight bogs for what I thought was the very last time on Sunday, I saw a couple, probably mid 40's in front of me. Male to female, (with serious face) " have you ever used these toilets before darling?" Reply, "no" Male to female , "i will wait outside for you then" Clearly male has taken notice of the Lord Lucan theory...... And my thoughts on the new stadium is that I reckon the new stadium will happen. But in my opinion, 2017 is a more realistic proposition.
