2017 Potential Signings
EnglishRoundabout replied to poolebolton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Batch has been throttling back badly for a number of years now. I first noticed it about 3 years ago when in a couple of tight races against Holder and Ward at Blunsdon. In both races he could have beaten either of his fellow Aussies, but instead backed out and lost vital points. He's not injured this year as he's riding regular here and abroad (and scoring points abroad so I understand). He also used the terrible accident to Darcy as an excuse to his dreadful performances at the end of last season. If he returned to Swindon, he'd be decent at reserve. -

Tell you what, talking of new riders with a very low average who could improve....how about Batch?!!!! Only kidding of course! -

I sure he would like to be part of a new era and a decent track at Swindon too! -
Peterborough Panthers 2016

He/she is Gater1 on the EL thread. One season purported to be a regular at Blunsdon, then the following year was a Poole fan. -
Two points?!!! That's a hell of a prediction!

Somerset V Sheffield Lc Semi 9.9.16.
EnglishRoundabout replied to Cliffeboy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Another meeting packed with exciting racing. Sheffield contributed with plenty of effort and were a shade unlucky to concede and 18 point deficit. Thankfully the rain that circled the south west held off long enough for the meeting to be completed before an almighty downpour occurred an hour later. Once again a small loyal band of Tiger's fans were there in support on the third bend and certainly the first 7 or 8 heats kept them interested and well in the tie. For the Rebels, Josh looked in superb form and partnered by a very fast Jake Allen, they formed a prolific partnership. Tungate continued his impressive form around the OTA and BWD seemed to have regained the speed that was lacking earlier in the season. Starke and Wright were a worry early on until a switch of bikes changed their fortunes. Howarth, Stead, Berge and to a lesser extent Sissis were value for money throughout with some determined racing. Stead paid tribute to the aforementioned Sheffield fans during interview. Ref Ronnie Allen enraged the home fans by excluding a bemused Tungate in heat 15 which led to an after race confrontation with the start marshal and a further heated discussion with Ronnie Allen after the victory parade. There is no doubt in my mind that Somerset fans are treated week in week out to terrific racing and importantly real value for money. Once again a brilliant racing surface, which unfortunately became very dusty towards the end, superb chilli and chips and a decent pint of cider. A great way to,spend a Friday night. I'm already not looking forward to those long winter dark nights. -
Plymouth 2016
EnglishRoundabout replied to torpointfanatic22's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The thread is indeed about Plymouth 2916. However, unprecedented events have occurred which as you are aware have potentially endangered the existence of a club that has already wobbled and almost fallen over this very season. Since the latest sad news became public, you firstly thought it amusing to taunt a Plymouth fan by saying ' were you on security duty?' Do you really need this explaining to you how tasteless that comment was? You followed this up with other adjectives to describe this Plymouth fan as a 'drama queen, a fool, jealous, ignorant, pathetic, spiteful, parochial, boring, bi-polar, psychopathic. Do you think it may be the right moment to take a deep breath? -

Why do you feel the need to publicly continue to do this? No matter what your issue is with Lewy, to be 'giving it back' or whatever term you use on a subject or thread as this current one, will always appear to be in bad taste. Can't you see this? -
Kings Lynn V Lakeside 1st Sept 2016
EnglishRoundabout replied to Hornsey's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I'm no expert and I've never ridden a speedway bike. But I have watched speedway for many years. Batchelor is not injured. He's lost his bottle. Watch him whenever another rider gets close to him on the straights. His first reaction is to put his left foot down on the track. (Prior to entering the corners) -

I wonder if any other team will want Batchelor on his 'bargain' average next season? What a waster. -
Swindon's New Stadium

I thought the old bogs were an integral part of the new stadium? I'd heard the stadium plans had included them? Incidentally, does anyone know if Sidney still guards them? -

Didn't Dexy's Midnight Runners write a song about him? . (Another one for the teenagers I guess!) -

Didn't Helmsley utilise the 'expertise' of former Leicester legend Ray Wilson when designing the track? Not so sure the new Swindon track does have a blank canvas. There are bound to be constraints and restrictions which dictate the shape and size. You would think however that if there is an opportunity to choose, they would base it on the Scunthorpe, Somerset shape. If the track needs to be smaller, then maybe Wimbledon or even Hackney? Others who visited those two old tracks may have some more intuitive input as I only managed a couple of visits there. -
Wolves - Swindon 29.8.16
EnglishRoundabout replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Lets face it, Swindon were never going to challenge Wolves at home. Similarly the same will occur at Lakeside. Let's not forget, this side is the most inconsistent Swindon side for many years. The Robins are always likely to grab a point or two at Coventry, Kings Lynn and possibly BelleVue, as most of them prefer bigger tracks. Sedge, Morris and Josh looked out of their depth on a tricky track at Monmore last night and we all know the same will happen at Lakeside. Tungate has been a revelation in the last few matches, but North should have been replaced with a like for like in the first place. -

King's Lynn V The Wolves 25/08/16
EnglishRoundabout replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Lynn's decline wasn't one I predicted. I thought they looked pretty strong on paper at the start of the season. Batchelor's signing in my opinion was a bit risky as Swindon fans had watched his form and bravery gradually desert him over the past two seasons. Even on one of his favourite tracks he has got worse. Slightly puzzled over Mads's release, but in Lambert, the Stars have a golden nouggat in which no doubt the 2017 team will be built around. -

EnglishRoundabout replied to drew2's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Unfortunately I can't make tonight so any after match reports will be gratefully received chaps! Weather looks set fair for what should be a cracking match. The Devils have a decent looking side, but without Brady Kurtz at number one, they look well short to challenge the Rebels tonight. Nevertheless, the usual helping of cracking racing will be served up I'm sure. -
Why would they need to make any changes? It's going to take a monumental performance for any side to beat Poole over two legs.
