i am sure there are the hardcore Wolves of fans though that still think the team have a decent chance of taking the points.....even if it isn't in theory, a Wolves line up. -

I have to say when Somerset moved up, the thought of seeing the likes of Lindgren, Holder, Doyle, Harris, and others riding the OTA filled me with great excitement and anticipation for the new season.( I'd include Kasprczak in that list but sadly would always wonder if he'd suffer from hay fever or his van might break down en route ) The racing this season so far has been first class, just such a pity that some of the top riders look like missing meetings. Lindgren in particular remarked at the pairs meeting in March, how he enjoyed riding the OTA, would have been great to see him there agiain. Still, as I've previously said, Somerset is such a brilliant racing track, the absence of the top stars won't prevent superb entertainment. -

It's coming out of the bends where he is aggressive too. He's always had a 'thou shalt not pass' attitude, and in his championship title winning year at Blunsdon he was very hard on riders coming off the second bend. Sometimes I wondered if two of my favourite all time riders (Adams and Ashby) had deployed similar attributes, maybe both would have been world champs? -

Not sure he's walked out before, he's certainly been sacked previously by at least two clubs. Has there ever been such an inconsistent rider? On occasions he's mustard and looks the real deal. However, more recently he doesn't even look like he's trying. He's clearly a high class rider, but scoring an average of 5 points per meeting in this league is scandalous. His ships come in I reckon. -

Historically when rain clouds circle the Poole area, they seem to eventually empty their cargo on the track. Especially when the Robins are in town. -
Good turn out by both sets of Poole and Swindon fans at the OTA this season for the respective matches. Only realised how many Swindon fans were actually there when they clinched victory in the last race. Seemed like a couple of hundred at least. Very quiet during the meeting though! Oldtimer, I started going to speedway in the 70's. In those days I became familiar with rider replacement and guests featuring on a regular basis. Nothing has really changed since those days, possibly both feature a little more regularly. Nevertheless, if you become accustomed to it, and I must stress I'm not a fan of it, surely you are losing out by not attending? Am I to assume you are not used to guests and rider replacement? The racing at the OTA has been first class this season. I have seen some of the best races I have EVER seen. The step up to the Premiership appears to have brought a step up in the standard of racing too. Not that it was ever mediocre in the old league. Get down there oldtimer, don't cut your nose off to spite your face!

Somerset V Swindon 21/4/17

Agree wth previous posters about the last 3 races. Heat 13 in particular was an absolute classic. Both riders giving each other racing room and a race that can only be described as a duel. A fierce battle from tapes to finish. Bellego, as in previous visits to the OTA was superb. He was fast, spectacular and ruthless. His heat 14 pass, coming from third to first around the inside of bends one and two, was stunning. He did his team mate Ellis no favours in one heat, taking his partner right out to the fence and leaving him no room. Ellis was subsequently filled in and trailed in last. Nevertheless, Rossister would have been pleased with the speed Ellis showed in his 3 other races. Somerset were unlucky to lose this one, and although Tungate is not firing at the moment, I can't see too many teams winning at the OTA. The Robins will be well pleased with this win and they delighted their healthy following of fans. -

I do keef yes. Somerset has superb racing and it's an hour's drive for me. Blunsdon is around 45 minutes away. -

Most importantly if he uses the bog, he will come out unscathed and not traumatised....unlike at Blunsdon;) -

Keef, the food at the track is pretty good. There is a reasonable choice too. I recommend the chilli, although it does make things tricky the following day!! There is no issues with taking a chair in and plenty of decent viewing sites all around the track. Parking is a nearby field with plenty of room. -

This will be a tight one for sure. Can't see Doyle and Morris getting two 5-1's in heat 13 and 15 as you suggest though hyabb17. Bellego and BWD are the ones to watch out for in my opinion. Bellego has looked really good on previous visits to the OTA and BWD will be a real threat. Reckon this will be a humdinger of a local derby, and another big crowd. Rebels to win by 4 points. -

He may have been pretty much ever present for you, but I remember Chris Morton or certainly one of the management berating him for his performance at the business end of the season. I've always said it, the bloke is mustard when he's on it, but in general he's inconsistent and unreliable. -

Andersen was class at Somerset on Friday. Took a couple of laps to get to know the track , which he last rode 10 years ago before using all of his skill and track craft to win important races and team ride where necessary. -
A very enjoyable meeting on a chilly April evening. One of the biggest crowds for a league match that I have seen at the OTA. The track was pretty slick and sure there was dust from the start, but I've seen it a lot worse at both Somerset and other tracks. The meeting started off a little processional but within 3/4 heats there was the usual passing and re passing. For the Rebels, Josh was looking quick, and along with a resurgent Tungate, a spectacular Hougaard and the equally combative Jake Allen, the Rebels were really up for the fight. Poole with the poor Garrity at number one, showed the potential and depth of their side by producing a battling performance. Hans Andersen rolled back the years with a fine performance. Using skill and guile in one race shepherding Nicolai Klindt home and protecting him from both Tungate and Starke who were constantly snapping at both Pirates heels, and using aggression where needed in protecting his own lead from Gracijonek and Tungate in heat 13 when arguably, both were quicker. Brady Kurtz looked like he hadn't forgotten the quickest way around the OTA, but got squeezed out a couple of times on the first bend and then getting stuck in traffic. Once he was free, he looked very fast, but inevitably had too much ground to make up. Good to see Jake Allen get up from a high speed head first into the first bend crash too. When interviewed after, he stated he had 'wrecked his bike and ate rubbish'. Certainly it looked an expensive one, as his machine was literally carried back to the pits with the forks and frame at different angles. Good to see fellow Rebels fan idh celebrating his birthday in the clubhouse. I didn't realise you are almost as old as Bill Hancock mate!

According to one Rye fan, if you didn't see a Robins win on the cards dumpers, you know "naff all about speedway".
