  1. And, crucially, Morris attempted wherever possible, to team ride!!
  2. Ok my post went in the wrong place. I was referring to your "spikey" little posts to (coincidentally) Swindon fans. (AOrlov/Steve0) to be precise...You certainly aren't gracious in defeat. And incidentally, you were beaten fair and square.
  3. Starman, being gracious in defeat and showing humility is an attractive human character trait. You and some of your fellow Poole supporters really need to embrace these traits. You guys have ruled the speedway world for pretty much the last decade so you really should be doffing your cap to an incredible achievement by a Swindon side doomed by many at the start of the season (you included I seem to recall). As I trawl through this thread, there seems to be more and more Poole fans that are simply smarting from their fair and square two leg defeat by a super little side put together by Rosco. As it happens, if Wolves progress to the final I don't see Swindon being victorious over the two legs, but I, like many of the excellent Swindon posters on this forum, will be the first to congratulate Wolves in what also would be an amazing achievement in retaining their title.
  4. Goodness me, had a bad day have we? What a sore loser you are.
  5. I don't think the Swindon fans that weren't able to make the trip to Poole fr the 2012 final ever saw the championship trophy, let alone their winning Robins team. No end of season celebration nothing.
  6. Danny Birds of a Feather: Poole? Pirates fanatic Swindon? Gater1 Peterborough? Jeremycorbynfan Coventry? Brandon Bob
  7. I'm not so sure about a comfortable Swindon win. I'm probably one of the more pessimistic Robins fans when it comes to crucial meetings. Doyle and Morris are always likely to do something daft under pressure. A fall here and a tape break there. Moreover, I saw the Poole victory at Somerset recently and they rode superbly to come from 10 points down to win a last heat decider. They were a real 'together' team that night with great team spirit. I'd like nothing better that to give the Pirates a good spanking, and I've been their fiercest critic with all their cheating and shenanigans over the years, but I just don't see a clear cut victory for Swindon. Hope I'm wrong.
  8. How's Jensen Jensen doing these days anyway? I remember those days when you were fanatical about him in the same way you are allegedly fanatical about Poole. Before that it was KIng Kenneth speed (KKS) and there's been King Batchelor speed too. Gater 1 , Liam Gallagher fan, Jeremy Corbyn fan and umpteen other user names, purporting to support various speedway clubs. Each to their own on how one acts In their private life, but quite frankly, I reckon you have some serious issues.
  9. Massive disadvantage for Lambert is his gating ability. We seem to breed youngsters these days (apart from Tai) who simply cannot trap. The 70's seemed to have endless British guys who were superb from the gate. Simmons, Jessup, Davis, Kilby, Lee, Carter, the list was endless. Unless young Robert sharpens his technique, I can't see him becoming a GP rider.
  10. A Coventry fan? KKS is a Peterborough fan. Oh and has previously been a Swindon fan of course.
  11. I hope you are wrong mate. I shall be there though rooting for the blues!
  12. I've seen both Poole and Swindon at Somerset in recent weeks and Swindon are the better side. However, the fight and desire Poole showed with their backs against the wall at the OTA means in my opinion this will be a very tight two legged affair. Robins to win over the two legs but my fear is the likes of Doyle and Morris are always likely to do something bizarre like get excluded at a crucial time, which will keep the scores much closer. Got a feeling it will be a last heat decider at Blunsdon.
  13. Go and look at brum's post history??!!!! Have a word with yourself man. Who gives a monkeys chuff about brums post history. Why don't you just focus on the thread? You do seem to be able to post a reasoned sensible debate, so why let yourself down with getting side tracked?
  14. Gavan, I grew up with Shov. He's a good lad but was always good at winding people up. Sometimes he didn't even know he was doing it. He could be infuriating at times, but at the end of the day, he was a decent bloke. ( despite swapping the Red of Swindon for the blue of Poole when he was around 18 I guess) Despite your rants about him knowing nothing, he knows his speedway inside out. What he does love, is to dangle that little rod of his to see how many tiddlers he can catch. He does it I'm sure out of boredom at times. But over the last year or so, he's finding he's getting more tugs on that rod of his than ever before. Have a little think before you react next time.
  15. It's taken a few pages of utter drivel between the usual suspects to actually talk about a cracking speedway meeting at the OTA. This was a superb meeting. A huge crowd, a tense atmosphere and two sets of riders giving everything for their clubs. A fine evening with a slick dusty track still served up some great racing. You have to hand it to Poole. A magnificent fight back by them. It was almost as if they smelt a wounded animal, before moving in like a pack and going for the kill. All of a sudden, the entire Pirates side save for Wood, seemed to click at the same time. Kenneth had his best ever meeting at the OTA, Lahti was a revelation at reserve Starke after two engine failures whilst well placed suddenly sprung to life, and Hans Andersen was once again a terrific team player. His 3 bonus points won the Pirates this match. Although not on the fastest engine, he showed his class and experience by team riding where necessary, blocking the run of the quicker Rebels riders, and coming up with the goods when it really mattered. Heat 13 was costly for the Rebels. Graczjonek in his eagerness to get on level terms with the fast gating Pirates, simply scythed Lawson down and was wrongly excluded. Kerr breaking the tapes in heat 14 was crucial also as Doolan was very sluggish And had got worse with each ride. Lawson made a welcome return to form and was electric from the gate. However, Hougaard was once again poor. Whether he is still suffering from his recent injuries I'm not too sure, but his run of scores for the Rebels of late, must surely put his place in the Somerset side for next season in jeopardy. Charles Wright was once again mustard to watch. He appears to ride a tyres width from the fence and it is almost a shock to see him go anywhere near the kerb! A disappointing end to the Rebels first season in the top league, but the biggest crowd of the season were rewarded here for sure. I do understand supporters that have become frustrated with the sport with all the chopping and changes, but tonight's meeting made me realise why I go to speedway., and what a great sport it is. As Mr Shovlar said, the Poole fans suddenly came to life in the last few heats and I would estimate around 250 to 300 of them celebrated as wildly as the Pirates riders as Kurtz crossed the line in heat 15. Poole are a real threat now, and will be a tough nut to crack in the play offs.
  16. I know we are all currently enjoying blagging Poole fans due to their mid season demise, but I do have a feeling they are looking dangerous opposition. Their riders appear to be hitting form just at the right time.
  17. Seen him do the same to Nick Morris on a couple of occasions. Also at Somerset recently when Musielak was leading him in heat 15, he was trying his utmost to get past him, rather than stay with him. However, maybe he is just a born racer and wants to win every single race he rides in!
  18. Hasn't KK done the same thing at every club he's ridden for? Hasn't he been sacked at more clubs than any other rider? I can think of issues at Coventry, Birmingham, Lakeside and now Poole. He also let BelleVue down when he rode poorly at the end of their good season 10 years or so back. Any side that signs him are taking a risk. He will do the business for Rye, but sooner or later he will falter.
  19. I can't think of anyone who regularly team tides these days. A couple of years back when riding for Plymouth, Ben Barker was very efficient at it (surprisingly). Leigh Adams used to do it pretty much every week at Blunsdon, and occasionally away from home too. I don't even think it enters Doyley's head. Even at Somerset last week when Musielak was leading him in heat 11, it seemed like he was doing his utmost to get past him. That said, the Robins have a proper number one at the absolute top of his game. And right now, there won't be many who would swap, him for any rider in the world.
