I'm actually quite pleased that this has been postponed despite the difficulty of finding another date. I always thought it was a bit ambitious, at this crucial stage of the season, for Glasgow to schedule three consecutive matches against Somerset, Workington and Somerset in three days. And then, with Nike picking up an injury the night before, in a pretty meaningless fixture, our season's dreams could have come to an abrupt awakening. I know riders need to earn money BUT was it not a bit reckless to allow Glasgow assets to risk injury so close to the season's climax when facing a tough schedule of meaningful fixtures ? I hope the extra 'free' day will assist in the recovery of Nike and the bruised and battered riders involved in the Battle of Oaktree last night.

No match at Ashfield this week............................ chance to get the BIG GREEN TRACTOR in for its 30.000 mile service ?
-
No. Didn't cause loss of 3 points in Ippo match.................. just loss of will to live after 70th lap.

Why not ask the Facennas if you could lease sunny Ashfield on a couple of Friday nights when it's wet through in the east? I don't think the Tiggers use it on Friday nights. -

Perhaps the kiddies race and the regrading should not both be held between the same two heats? It just makes this interval too long unless the hidden agenda is to sell more food and drink. And what exactly is the purpose of the big green tractor going round and round and round and round and round and round without actually scraping or spreading any dirt? Would a big heavy roller not do the same job in a fraction of the time? And, while Nike's final bend pass was awesome, Richie Worrall was robbed of the MotM award today (15 from 6 compared to 9 from 7). -
Quite right (and one better points difference than Rebs !), but my question still stands. Will R/R be at 2 or 4 tomorrow?
-
The challenge will be for Tiggers to stay at +13 tomorrow without Rene. Anyone know if R/R will be at 2 or 4 ?

Still fancy your chances ?????

Good use of "unless.........." !! Now Glasgow are +9 and unbeaten at Ashfield, and Workington are +2 and no away wins yet. Makes Sunday's contest crucial to your "think Glasgow and Workington could swap places" although even a 7 point swing (home loss by more than 6) wouldn't suffice.

Well done Richie and Rene - paid max's. That's a much better team performance - four invaluable away points bagged. Same again tomorrow please. I'll be there cheering them on. Hope Danny is OK. -
Glasgow V Rye House Pl Sunday 17 July 2016
Tapeworm replied to SharpenRake's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
My guess is that Richard Lawson doesn't give two hoots about a rather cheap-looking MoM trophy and would be more than happy to give Rene the psychological boost of the Weegie fans' appreciation of his great efforts against Rye House, especially prior to the PL 4's this weekend. Lawson/Summers/Worrall/Bach.............. what a line-up !! -
Well, I suppose that's two matches we can now replay after Nike's return as a reserve. And no home match again next Sunday. Anyone know when he'll be fit enough to ride again ? I was quite impressed by Dan Bewley's pace, for one so young, last Wednesday night but, while grateful to him for agreeing to be our guest, was fearful about his contribution for us against Sheffield this afternoon.

Fantastic atmosphere and good sized crowd but we really need to keep our feet on the ground. It may be a start but we're not nearly there yet. How big will the crowd be on Sunday with no TV cameras and a smaller travelling support despite stronger opposition? Whilst acknowledging the wonderful marketing efforts of our promotion so far, it certainly must have helped that we were not already "bored" with facing the Monarchs thanks to the dropping of the Spring Trophy meetings. I have talked to many Elite League supporters who are "bored" by meeting the same teams over and over again and would relish a greater variety of opponents. There are now 5 other PL teams unbeaten at home and 4 with more away points than we have. That's not good enough for the pre-season favourites. We need to come away from Workington on Saturday with a haul of points....... and that might not be easy....... followed up with a home victory against the other Tigers on Sunday. And as for EL pretensions, I can't see it. Too many vested interests not wanting to water down their Sky income, and can you really see the prima donnas wanting to traipse all the way up to the frozen north twice a year? Our best hope, once we're good enough, is for a single restructured National League following the regrettable demise of the few clubs who are perpetually struggling financially with diminishing support. We were in that situation before the Facennas rescued us and ploughed barrowloads of cash into the facilities and showed how a speedway club should be run.

Edinburgh V Glasgow League Cup 15 April
Tapeworm replied to SharpenRake's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Edinburgh promotion will need to have quiet word with Smiler......... he's costing them too much in points money. The other 6 are playing their part fine so far........ especially when there's half a tramway system and 17 schools needing a financial contribution from local businesses !! -
Fours Festival Weekend
Tapeworm replied to Sings4Speedway's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
What happens in the event of a rain-off on one or both days ? Free entry to a re-arranged meeting would be no use to those of us travelling long distances. This is a disincentive to buy tickets in advance. -
Fantastic season opener. Salivating already. Will be interesting to see if the home crowd moan about James's lightning starts now he's racing for the oppo.
