Anyone know Josh G's phone number? -

Felt sorry for Jack. He'd done nothing wrong; he was in the correct gate with the correct helmet colour on. Then, despite the team being 20 points ahead with the match won, he's not given the 15m restart with an almost guaranteed minimum of 1 point for his pay packet. As you say, what was that all about? -

Updates anywhere ? Nothing on Speedway Updates yet. -
Been there. Got the T shirt. Match probably re-arranged right in the middle of my annual holiday. So, after entering my life story in their website and devising a password comprising 19 letters and 7 numerals but no punctuation marks, refund received less booking fee and admin charge. Phone them to complain. "Your call is extremely important to us so please hang on, at premium rates, while our only employee finishes his tea break. In the interim, listen to this awful music." Eventually speak to some guy in Mumbai who doesn't speak understandable English and hasn't heard the expression "effing con artistes". I once got charged a "convenience charge" of £5 when trying to pay a parking fine by debit card online! So I sent them a cheque with a note saying "See how convenient this is for you when you have to take it to a bank in the nearest big town with no adjacent parking and get charged by the bank for paying it in". Not for me, mate. I'll stick to cash at the turnstiles.

£18.50 is a bargain to watch the Tigers but maybe slash the price for lesser visitors ?

Glasgow Tigers Supporters' Group Christmas Quiz this Sunday. Admission - Adults £1, Children Free. Does anyone know if there will be Concessions for Over 65s ?
-
Will Worrall's Polish commitments render him unavailable for any Tigers' away fixtures on Saturdays and/or Sundays? And what about the Pairs, Fours and Individual events? Who has priority over his services?
-
In the Championship League, surely 10H and 10A......... but I take your point.
-
Well, if true (and I've no reason to doubt you), that might have been thought to be a sufficiently significant change to include in the press release instead (or as well as) all the self-congratulatory guff, and granting of testimonials which only affect a minority of fans.
-
And another couple of issues occur to me which were not apparently addressed :- 1. With the requirement to fit in another 4 Championship League matches and the resurrection of the League Cup, it will be difficult to avoid an even more frantic end to next season than we witnessed last season (matches run after the league cut-off, double headers, multiple matches on consecutive nights, etc). I hope they discussed some method of knocking stubborn heads together when trying to re-arrange postponed fixtures so that these do not all build up for months on end. Also some method of resolving tied cup matches, other than a full replay, to avoid the KO Cup farce of Newcastle/Workington/Glasgow last year. 2. There was no announcement of a change to the final signing cut-off date. Due to late season injuries (inevitable as a result of the frantic end of last season), several teams had no alternative to fielding guests and operating R/R making it difficult for fans to remain loyal to a team they hardly recognised at a crucial point in the year. I hope these issues were resolved and simply not included in the press release.
-
Given the relatively limited list of decisions contained in the press release, I find it hard to understand how the promoters took two whole days to agree them. I find it disappointing that :- 1. Apart from setting up a working group, the urgent need for improved marketing of the sport does not seem to have been addressed 2. Nothing appears to have been done to reduce costs for riders by way of, say, limiting the specification of engines 3. There doesn't appear to be any reduction in the number of non-league meetings (individual/pairs/fours/under 21s/European/UK team/Junior team/etc) which will take precedence on Saturdays and Sundays over Championship League meetings (during the pleasant summer months!) and result in guests/RR which many regular supporters dislike and newcomers cannot understand
-
Well said. I couldn't have put it better myself. The trouble is that, with the small-minded attitude exhibited by some other speedway supporters, many smaller clubs appear to be teetering on the financial brink and Glasgow may soon have fewer opponents to race against. Perhaps, rather than filling these pages with their bile, they'd be better spending their efforts on suggesting ways to improve the race day package and market the product at their local tracks, thereby increasing attendance numbers as at Glasgow. Thank goodness for the Facennas. Pity there aren't many more like them.......yet.

End of month 5 update:- Sheffield + 28 (M27 - 12H/15A) Glasgow + 23 (M27 - 12H/15A) Ipswich + 18 (M31 - 16H/15A) Edinburgh + 9 (M28 - 15H/13A) Redcar + 4 (M30 - 17H/13A) Newcastle 0 (M29 - 14H/15A) Peterborough - 1 (M28 - 13H/15A) Workington - 2 (M24 - 12H/12A) Scunthorpe - 17 (M32 - 16H/16A) Berwick - 24 (M32 - 15H/17A) E&OE -
The riders stopped because the marshal on bend 4, who had seen Pickering and his bike still down on bend 1, held out his red flag even though the ref hadn't yet put on the red lights. Then, by the time the 3 riders stopped on the back straight, Michael Max was shouting and waving at them that the race hadn't been stopped and they should continue racing. What authority do the flag marshals have to countermand the ref's actions (or inactions !) even if sensible on safety grounds ? The other farce of the night was the driver in 'Jungle Balls' racing round the inside of the track at top speed. They could have given Phil "The Power" Taylor a shot and even he wouldn't have hit the bucket ! What chance did the kids have ?
-
I understood that Jack was a Glasgow asset so the Tigers fixture would take priority.
-
Also Workington away and the 2 KO Cup ties against Newcastle. Might we be missing young Dan's services on 13th September as BV Colts have this date as "reserved for (National League) KO Cup" ?
-
This would be an extremely foolish reaction. Every other team manager throughout the land would see his unprofessional attitude and ask themselves if they would want such a rider in any of their future teams. Yes, he's been harshly treated by all accounts but it's a perfect time for him to step up to the plate and show what he can do while all eyes are on him.

This may sound like sour grapes but, Irrespective of Mr McGregor's contribution, yet again the Tactical Ride rule leaves one team's fans feeling robbed. I can understand the intention being to make run away leads reduce to narrow ones in order to give the appearance of a close match and add to the "excitement" BUT it sours matters if it switches the result. What other sport has a similarly stupid rule ? If the Powers That Be won't scrub it from the Rule Book, how about amending it such that, if one team uses the TR rule, the other team get to use a TR nomination within the next two or three heats ? -

I fully sympathise with Workington's fixtures backlog and hope this match is run to a conclusion. And, since this is Glasgow's first visit to Derwent Park this year, was any thought given to making it a "double" meeting? However, another fixtures problem is looming for young Dan Bewley and Jack Smith who both ride for the 3 teams currently lying top of the Premiership, the Championship and the National leagues. They'll be busy little bunnies when it comes to play-off time. And their 3 teams are all still in their respective KO Cups! I'll bet Dan and Jack could well do without having to ride in (possibly meaningless) "catch up" fixtures such as the other remaining Comets v Tigers match! Which club takes priority in the event of them being asked to ride in two (or three) matches on the same date ? And (yes, I know it is early yet) has any rider previously won all 3 championships in the same season ?
