  1. Hard to believe it's 26 years ago Sidney! The 1-7 was 1 Simon Wigg 2 Andy Galvin 3 Malcolm Simmons 4 Allan Johansen 5 Randy Green (didn't work out soon replaced by the exciting Roland Danno) 6 Alan Mogridge 7 Mark Loram
  2. John Titman (I've always been a leg man myself)rode for Hackney during the last year of the Len Silver era 1983. Marks first year was 1987 with Alan Mogridge (another Hackney legend)as his reserve partner.
  3. I agree with you it was a shame Mark didn't win a gp that year, although he only missed out by half a wheel in Prague, (Damn you Billy Hamill!). But he was the most consistent and exciting rider so thoroughly deserved to win.
  4. Being a Hackney fan obviously I was over the moon when Mark Loram won, having watched him from the beginning of his career
  5. Thinking about previous English winners, I remember Michael Lee being announced as world champion over the tannoy at Hackney. (The 1980 championship must've been on a Friday) and people actually booed. Incredible!
  6. With Tai Woffinden on the verge of becoming Englands 7th world champion I'm wondering if people feel the same elation as previous English champions because of his Australian upbringing? Although I regard Tai as being English, (probably because he is!) I can't get as excited as I was 13 years ago when the great Loramski won.
  7. Found it incredible that Miedzinski wasn't even excluded!!!
  8. It seems we're not going to get the exciting battle for the championship with Emils injury tonight. A great shame but well done Tai, world champion.
  9. He didn't make a mistake. As Philip said it was more important for Tai to keep Emil behind him than Niels, because he's not fighting him for the championship. It's all about scoring more points than your main rival, winning the gp is just a bonus. Ask Mark Loram!
  10. No Danish rider would've beaten Hampel off the outside.
  11. Coral, Poland 6/5 Denmark 5/4. Let's face it, guaranteed win!
  12. I was just about to say the exact same thing! I like Emil but I'd still prefer a Brit to win!
  13. Well done Tai, great to have a genuine championship contender again. It's been a long 13 years!
  14. Greg Hancock to win heat 4 tomorrow seems like a decent bet to me. Off the inside, always a big advantage in Prague 2/1 Ladbrokes, (evens at vcbet.)
  15. Amen to that. Wimbledon had the stadium but we had the track!
  16. The people saying Tai has got no chance of winning a gp this year were probably saying the same about Chris Harris at the start of the 2007 season. Any decent rider can win a round with a bit of luck. Vaculik won when it rained just before the final, otherwise Gollob would've won. Jensen just squeezed into the semis on countback, so hardly dominated. Scott Nicholls was only half a wheel away from winning in Australia, so who's to say Tai can't score 7 or 8, make the semis, couple of good starts and Bobs yer uncle!
  17. Received the meeting dvd today. Watching it made me feel so proud to be a speedway fan, experiencing sadness and happiness at the same time. Truly the best sport in the world. Thanks for the memories Lee.
  18. Is there really that much difference between Jensen and Woffinden? Let's face it, we've got the best 14 riders in the world in the gp next year, (assuming Hampel, Ward and Vaculik are in.) Could be the best gp year ever whoever they pick. BRING IT ON!!!
  19. Slightly off topic, but why are some people incapable of spelling the name of the world number 2 correctly? Nicki simples!
  20. Ref didn't 'bottle' anything. It was a 50/50 decision that went Holders way.
