  1. It was definitely England at the last wtc at Coventry, I remember the race suits with the cross of St. George.
  2. You seem to have all the answers, enlighten me. Why England in 2000 and Great Britain in 2001?
  3. I know Kildemand wanted a place but I wasn't aware Laguta was overlooked, shame.
  4. We were England in the 2000 WTC and Team GB in the 2001 WC, so I guess something happened in between! I'll continue calling us England until a Welshman or a Scot forces their way into the squad.
  5. Totally agree, there's a distinct lack of entertainers in this years line up apart from Nicki as you say. Chris Holder used to be brilliant to watch a few year ago, but he seems to ride pretty cautiously now. Although I guess you can't blame him after all his injuries. Say what you like about Darcy Ward but the sooner he, Sayfutdinov, Grigory Laguta and Kildemand are back in the gp's the better. I just love watching exciting riders. I still miss Mark Loram!
  6. Used to be a decent track along with Prague, til they stopped putting dirt down.
  7. Of course he should, blimey we're bad enough with him, I dread to think what we'd be like without him!
  8. I bought the original version of that song in 1989, 'ride on time' by black box. Reached number 1 in the hit parade. Not 'arf pop pickers..
  9. I think a lot of todays top riders are getting too picky over track conditions. I've seen meetings completed on tracks a lot worse than tonight.
  10. Who says Chris Harris can't gate? Obviously it was the tapes that were slowing him down!
  11. I'd only allow the third rider to cover for injury. Say, I dunno, somebody puts a bet on Denmark and then sees one of their top two replaced three times by the reserve, they would be bloody annoyed!! Anyway, hopefully GB pull their finger out and enter next year.
  12. Why take things to ridiculous extremes suggesting Mauger and Olsen? All I'm saying is if Gollob retains half of the ability he had 3 or 4 years ago he would provide more entertainment than most of this years wild cards, who (with a few notable exceptions down the years) don't add much to the meeting. Probably all irrelevant anyway as I can't see it happening.
  13. I wouldn't be averse to having Mr G in every round, just as long as he put some effort in and didn't just go through the motions, 'a la 2013.
  14. Beach volleyball, foxy boxing and hot oil wrestling, with a smattering of crown green bowls for that ultimate rush.
  15. Looks like that bike was a 'cut and shut' Thankfully Tai was alright.
  16. I don't think that Dave Rowe is so great. He didn't notice Tungate had replaced Holder in the last race on Saturday, even though they showed Chris grinning like a maniac behind the airfence a few seconds before the race started! Nope, give me Nige and Kelv and their synchronised "Whoooooaaaaasss" anytime! Roll on Saturday
  17. I still call them British league, National league and Junior league!
  18. Very impressed with young Lambert, fast and controlled. His riding style reminds me of Martin Dugard in his early days.
  19. ..and another 'let's criticise Chris Harris thread!' Why are people always saying, "oh he should drop out of the gp, he's not good enough." He qualified and he wants to ride in it, so it's nothing to do with anybody else. Alright he probably wont do much and deep down he must know he'll never be world champion but, like Andy Smith before him he just wants the prestige of riding in the sports premier event and good luck to him. Like Andy he probably loses money but that's his business. At least he wants to ride in it unlike a certain Russian!
  20. 10. Paul Whittaker, ensuring Hackney begin their national league era with a win by finishing third in the last race on his 16th birthday. Hackney 40 Mildenhall 38. 9. Erik Gundersen overtaking Shawn Moran and Lance King on the 4th bend at Bradford to book his place in the world final run-off. 8. Joe Screen beating Leigh Adams and Jason Crump to win the league for Eastbourne. 7. Andy Galvin and Alan Mogridge 5-1ing Erik Gundersen at Hackney in '87. 6. Tomasz Gollob beating Jimmy Nilsen, Polish gp '99. 5. Mark Loram smokin' Jimmy Nilsen and Tony Rickardsson, Swedish gp '99. 4. Mark Loram beating Chris Louis in the '97 British final run-off. 3. Chris Harris Cardiff '07. 2. Martin Scarisbrick beating Dave Perks and Richard Knight, 4TT '83 1. Barry Thomas riding between Ivan Mauger and Scott Autrey on the last bend, Hackney '77
