  1. I would say the only year the best 16 riders were in the world championship was 1996.
  2. I remember Tomasz Gollob 'team riding' lesser nations round. That must have blown Kelvins mind!
  3. I thought I was the only one who noticed that. I think CrumPPP was the best one!
  4. You're right, after watching the replay he was fenced by Sundstrom. Terrible news for Jarek
  5. Michael Lee Dave Jessup Malcolm Simmons Gordon Kennett Steve Bastable Chris Morton Tony Davey John Davis Les Collins Peter Collins Reg Wilson Doug Wyer Alan Grahame Jim McMillan John Louis Dave Morton The 1978 British final line-up. Slightly better than this year!
  6. I often wonder how good Dave could've been if he hadn't broken his leg in '77. There was nothing between him and Chris at that point, although he was a few years older. He was never the same rider after that. It's strange how some riders can return from serious injury and be just as good as before. Ermolenko, Knudsen, Wiltshire, and other riders can't. Must be a psychological thing I guess..
  7. I couldn't split the Grahames. I would say that Alan was the better team man with his legendary partnership with Phil Collins, and the way he continued riding while fighting cancer was quite incredible. Andy was so fast and the only Wimbledon rider to get the better of Steve Schofield and Andy Galvin on a regular basis. To finish first and second in the British final was quite an achievement although they were below the Louis's
  8. Phil won a lot of 16 lappers as I recall. I remember early in his career Jasons leathers had 'son of the animal' emblazoned on the seat.
  9. Good point. Even though I've gone for John, I will always be grateful to Chris for his help in making 1988 the best year of my life!
  10. I would say John. 11+ average in the seventies, something Chris never managed. But Chris 2 times British champion, John 1. John started 10 years later than Chris, so more naturally gifted. Both world number 3. I don't think any father and son have been so closely matched.
  11. On a lighter note, (or should that be heavier ), what did you think of the girl racer? Could've been Ryan Fishers sister.
  12. I really don't understand the Russians, why the hell would you leave out your second best rider.
  13. Aah, but none of those riders have the single-minded determination that Woffy has to be world champion.
  14. I wouldn't call us a 1 man team. Chris Harris usually does well for GB, especially at Kings Lynn.
  15. Well done Tai, great stuff. Right, time for Eurovision
  16. That's more like it, always rely on bomber to liven up a meeting
