  1. I don't think that's a very good system, I prefer top 2 from semi going through.
  2. Great ride from AJ, enjoyable meeting with the right result.
  3. Actually it was Sweden who won in 2000, although your country did play a part in their victory with Crump and Adams riding those prototype bikes with brakes in the last race when the Swedes needed a 5-1 to force a run-off with England. Yep, it still rankles! Not to mention of course, the Danes also giving them a 'helping hand' (or should that be helping Hans) 4 years later. Maybe the Swedes are just nicer people!
  4. I don't get the 'wretched Brit' statement. I think it's pretty obvious that Harris won't get a pick if he's not in the top 8, just like in 2013. Now we've got Woffy there's no need for a second Brit. I don't know why people keep mentioning Sayfutdinov or to a lesser extent Laguta, as it seems to me they don't want to know. I've never agreed with seeding 4 riders into the series (wasn't it Billy Hamill that started it all in 99) but as we've got them I'd definitely have Ward in, along with Hampel. I'd like to see Lindback back in because when he's 'on it' he's a joy to watch. Jonasson doesn't really add to the series and Jonsson is more miss than hit these days.. ...oh and not forgetting Kildemand of course, as we need someone crazier than Nicki out there!
  5. Karl Fiala retired because he was worried about losing his off-track employment. Bob Garrad was a regular double figure scorer for Hackney in the early season league cup matches in 81, but got injured, lost his confidence and dropped back down to Rye House. He never really fulfilled his potential. I always remember a comical on-track fight between Kelvin Mullarkey and Kevin Smith, looking like a couple of robots while punching each other with their helmets on!
  6. When BWitcher wants your opinion, he'll give it to you.
  7. Quality riders, quality racing. So much better than what was served up at Berwick the other day.
  8. Don't wish to be picky but Mark was never a NL reserve.
  9. Such an obvious all four back. I find it incredible some think otherwise.
  10. That's got to be the worst refereeing decision ever.
  11. The Hackney side of 88 would smash anything todays PL has to offer, and most EL sides I shouldn't wonder. Swindon visited that year, Nilsen, Karger and Silver included, and we beat them easily.
  12. Scott Nicholls a passionate Brit? Now I've heard everything!
  13. Cook did well in his first ride, but like last year has been outclassed since. It would be great to see Lambert out there.
  14. I remember that, phenomenal rider. I've always thought that Grigory Laguta has a similar riding style...If a little taller.
  15. For me, Tony Rickardsson is the greatest rider ever. Obviously there's the 6 titles, but one particular meeting sticks in my mind. It was the final round of the 2000 gp season and Tony had to start in the pre-main event. In those five rides to get to the final he was practically at the first bend before his three opponents had left the starting line, and he rode 20 absolutely faultless laps. Thankfully, Mark Loram got the second place he needed in the consolation final to win the championship, because if he hadn't there's no way Rickardsson wouldn't have won that final. Like Gavan, the great Loramski is my all time favourite rider too. I remember him in after meeting demonstration races at Hackney at 15 clocking faster times than Malcolm Simmons (who was still division one standard in 1986)achieved during the meeting.
  16. Great performance from practically a 2 man team. Their number 6 looks useful even if he does have a rubbish haircut! Pepe just gets better with age. Sadly Tomasz seems to be going in the opposite direction.
  17. I don't blame him. It looked to me he was excluded for laying his bike down
