  1. It seems that Doyle has learnt from past mistakes and has cut out the 'reckless moves' this year. I can't imagine Nicki ever will!
  2. Wow what a final!! Brilliant stuff, well done Doyley.
  3. Well deserved as well, ridiculous decision to exclude Zmarzlik.
  4. In the first round second leg of the 1980 Speedway Star Knock-out Cup match between Hull and Hackney, Bo Petersen had 8 rides. The Hawks were operating r/r for Zenon Plech and Bo took 2 of his rides, plus 1 as a tac sub along with his 5 programmed rides in the 18 heat formula. Apparently the two promoters had mutually agreed that he could take the extra illegal ride, although the fact Hull already had an 18 point lead from the first leg at Waterden Road probably had something to do with their generosity!
  5. Greg wanted to make sure the USA made it through to the race-off, so that they didn't have to go through the qualifiers next year. Once that was achieved he gave up his place to a youngster to gain international experience, which as Lance King said is "typical of Greg." Ryan Fisher is based in Britain and Billy Janniro probably wanted to catch up with people he hadn't seen for years in England, so they weren't going to give up their places in the team. Greg's 46 and probably wanted to spend time with his family. He rode over here for about twenty years and doesn't owe Britain anything in my opinion. I'll certainly be cheering him on to (hopefully) his fourth world title.
  6. That's a strange way of spelling Darcy's name. I believe there's a village in Essex named Tolleshunt D'Arcy.
  7. Decent meeting, not as good as the last round (unsurprisingly!) Lindback should have picked blue. SEC girls a cut above the Monster girls.
  8. Just when you think you've seen everything...the wrong kind of yellow.
  9. Also, Paul had his first rides at Barry Thomas's Iwade training track, so I guess you could say he had 2 mentors as team mates that year.
  10. Malcolm Simmons and Paul Whittaker at Hackney in 1986.
  11. I'm surprised more riders don't wear extra protection with Nicki around. He does wear a shirt and tie. The trouble is he then spoils it by also wearing a baseball cap back to front!
  12. Peter Collins, Erik Gundersen, Jan O. Pedersen and Mark Loram all proved that it's possible to be universally popular winners.
  13. It looks like he's having a year off from that this year, to go with his year off from Team GB next year.
  14. Credit where it's due. They're bloody good for a 3 man team!
  15. Pepe takes them apart again! Another rider who gets better with age.
  16. Love it when it's Grudziadz, I get to see the legend Mr G.
  17. Just that good. I don't find him boring at all. I love watching him ride, just like Rickardsson, he always knows the best part of the track to ride on, I don't think anyone else would have overtook Doyle in that final. A true master of his craft. When you see riders like Pedersen and Jonsson running out of steam and Hancock getting better if anything, the guy's phenomenal.
