  1. Best. Mark Loram becoming world champion. Hackney doing the double in 88. Having the privilege of watching Barry Thomas every Friday. Worst. Vic Harding being killed and Steve Weatherley getting badly injured. Paul Muchene being killed, (thankfully I wasn't there the night of Denny Pyeatt's fatal crash.) Hackney closing midway through the 91 season.
  2. They were a little before my time Sidney. My first speedway memory is of a rider in yellow leathers winning practically every race. I'm sure it would have been Dag Lovaas in 74
  3. Thommo, Plechy, Moggo and 'The Great Galvini' used to light up many a night at Waterden Road.
  4. Not a Nicki fan but I respect him for not getting involved in this random number nonsense. Piotr Pawlicki-sponsored by 'Lucky Seven' casino.
  5. Any likeable Brit, so I'd have someone to cheer for.
  6. R.I.P Bryn, our fantastic sport will be the poorer without you.
  7. Weirdly enough, I wouldn't rule out anyone finishing 15th with this line-up. April can't come quickly enough!
  8. I myself am partial to battenberg, so too I believe is football ref Mark Clattenburg.
  9. Tommy, Guy, Nicky, Adam=a lot of Allotts.
  10. Amazing that White City held the WTC final three times and England weren't in any of them. We had some decent riders in those days as well!
  11. When I saw the headline 'Rebels move up with Hancock,' I thought they'd made their first signing!
  12. Who is this Mark Fiala? Karl's brother? Not forgetting 'Mr Rye House' Bobby Garrad.
  13. Didn't Emil Sayfutdinov win an under 21 qualifier at Rye about 10 years ago? So he likes the track...One down, six to go!
  14. Henka Gustafsson was leading the 'A' final in Sweden, followed by Gollob, Hamill and Hancock when Greg slid off. He stayed down and Billy won the re-run. The Yanks did Nielsen up like a kipper in the last round in Vojens. The way they manipulated the results to keep Nielsen in the 'B' final really had to be admired! Edit. lucifer sam beat me to it with a more thorough explanation of events!
  15. I've long admired Hancock's track craft, and there is no denying he's a speedway legend, but I'm not buying his excuse. He should've just held up his hands, admitted he let Holder through, accepted the exclusion and continued his gp. Riders have been doing 'favours' for their mates since speedway began, and will no doubt continue to do so, but withdrawing from the meeting has lost him respect from most supporters I would say.
  16. I wouldn't pick Janowski. the best three Poles are already in and there's no need for a fourth. Pedersen, Sayfutdinov, Zagar and Laguta would be the perfect line-up.
  17. Congratulations to Greg Hancock and Chris Holder on their respective wins. Good to see 'The Bart-man' on the rostrum. Hopefully Doyley will win it next year. Bit of a shame Leigh Adams wasn't interviewed, but a great gp. Roll on next year!
  18. Very disappointed in Greg actions, but everyone's overlooking the biggest story... NO BJERRE NEXT YEAR!!!!!
  19. Congratulations Greg. And keep it up Freddie.
  20. As big a fan of Greg as I am, it's really a crying shame that we're not going to get the Doyle v Hancock showdown. The championship always seems to be wrapped up by the time we get to Australia. As others have said I've no interest in the battle for 2nd and 3rd place, nobody remembers those places, all I want is Lindgren to finish outside the top 8. As I'm sure most people do. Not happy about the early start, if they ran it at 4am on Sunday then us British viewers could watch it at the usual time. I think that's only fair and proper..
