  1. Still the Kestrels in 87. Hackney reverted back to the Hawks in 91 for their ill-fated final (half) season.
  2. Ole was my favourite rider as a nipper. I've still got the rosette of him I wore at the 78 world final. Although I did go off him when he purposely put Bo Petersen into the fence at the Wick a few years later..I remember an incensed Bo running the length of the track to get to him. It was only Bo and Hans Nielsen that didn't worship the ground Olsen walked on. The other Danes seemed in awe of him!
  3. A sensible approach if you ask me. Just do what needs to be done..It worked for Mark Loram.
  4. Well done Magic. Nice to see Zmarzlik pull back the points on Madsen as my money's on him this year. Zagar and Iversen proving a lot of people (including myself) wrong tonight, although having no pressure on you would make a big difference I guess. Maybe Lambert should ride angry more often! Great ride to pass Freddie. Hopefully he will get the last wildcard along with Tai, Greg and Doyley who are nailed on I'd say.
  5. I remember Bo returning to Hackney for Barry Thomas' second testimonial and leaving our (and the NL) top two Steve Schofield and Andy Galvin trailing in his wake, which was a pretty surreal experience after watching them dominate all year. Bo was a class act, and so skillful for such a tall man.
  6. Some decent racing despite the scoreline. Nice to see Robert Lambert win a few races.
  7. It would be better if they could have a few pit interviews during the interval, rather than these dull riders profiles imo.
  8. If riders didn't wave their leg about so much they probably wouldn't whack the fence so often, like Drabik just did..Plus it looks ridiculous.
  9. Great rider and all-round good egg is AJ. I remember Billy Hamill once saying of him, "he's got hips like Elvis!"
  10. True, but he's great to watch. I miss Nicki for the same reason. I'm fed up of watching riders like Iversen and Zager. They don't add anything anymore imo.
  11. Wow Bjerre fell apart. Although he wouldn't have added anything to the series. He makes Hampel look exciting. Fricke will be a worthy addition. Be nice to see G. Laguta in there but not very likely.
  12. Of course he can. He secured his place last year, so he can come back whenever he wants this year.
  13. I'd love X box or playstation to bring out a speedway game, but I probably won't live long enough to see it.
  14. Madsen reminds me of Jan O. A small guy who seems to find grip where no one else can. I've bet on Zmarzlik to win, but from what I've seen this year Madsen's got to be favourite.
  15. Tomasz was a bit of a menace in that first gp year, knocking riders off left right and centre. I think Boycey hit him for five or six riders! It certainly livened up a wet night in East London and the riders had a whip round to pay Craig's fine.
  16. Terry 51 Kentish Town Professional gambler Hackney My parents Mark Loram winning the world championship Vic Hardings' fatal crash Barry Thomas, who else? I don't dislike any rider. I've tried speedway and these guys have my utmost respect. Poker, Greyhound racing and playing my electronic keyboard.
  17. Thanks. I was thinking Michanek! Still, correct nationality.
  18. Woffinden before Fundin, Briggs and Hancock? I think not. Carter more naturally talented than Shawn Moran? Never in this world. Mark Loram favourite to watch? Absolutely spot on!
  19. Call me dense (or too young-ish) but who was the fifth man?
  20. We had to delay the start of the annual Hackney speedway Thames riverboat cruise one year, because Richard Pettman was late. Probably sorting his hair out!
