I remember Nicki Pedersen never bought into the nonsense.

Poole v Ipswich Play Off Semi 1st leg. 23/9/19

Hackney's win at Halifax in 1980 was quite impressive. 31-16 down after 8 heats, four 5-1's and a shared last heat and we win 39-38. Plus we had 3 riders who didn't score a point between them! -

Bomber showing more fight in his little finger than Iversen's got in his whole body. Gp prima donna! -

Well Tatum said "a hot exhaust pipe has burned a hole in the bag", I wondered if he meant the air-fence or THJ's wedding tackle! -

Yes the Poles (Zmarzlik excepted of course) haven't been so dominant recently, even Janowski who usually does well at Cardiff, faded after a bright start. You're right, I certainly wouldn't miss Dudek and Kolodziej. Or Laguta for that matter. -

I for one certainly hope Hancock's back next year. It will be nice to see some craftsmanship from the old master. I'm getting fed up of watching Dudek (what's happened to him?!) and Kolodziej scrabbling around at the back, and Laguta, with his usual starting like a train and then doing nothing routine. -
They put me in mind of Ant and Dec. Not quite Eric Boocock and Colin Pratt. Still, it won't be too difficult..Woffinden? Check, Lambert? Check, Bewley? Check, job done!

Sky bet have a market, winning nationality double chance; Poland or America! So that would be Poland then. Anyway, fast Freddie for me at 12's -

Maybe Madsen was hiding from the dozy mare with the microphone and her bombardment of inane questions. "What's the track like?" "Happy with your pick?" "Will you be happier if you win, than if you don't?" "If you lose, will you go home and kick the cat?" "Why am I so rubbish at this job?" -
Awful day. I was at Rye House when they announced the news. It was amazing that he made such a good recovery, thanks to the skill of the surgeons and of course Erik's fighting spirit.

Why is it when a track isn't as smooth as a billiard table some people automatically assume it's dangerous? I didn't see any riders 'picking up' or 'taking off' or hitting any ruts and being thrown off line. Alright it was a bit bumpy. Maybe todays' riders should ride more grasstrack, they had no trouble with a few bumps in the old days!

Woffinden and Lambert would qualify from anywhere, as was proved in last years final. -
Big decisions in November.

I've always believed this is the way to go since it was introduced for the 84 pairs. (Got a kiss off Sammy Fox. Ahh memories!) It would make riders take better care of their equipment, knowing they'll lose the heat if they stop...No tac subs though, never liked 'em. -
Nowt wrong with Nat, Nige and Kelv. They do a grand job. They need to get a second rider in the studio with Scott though, you need a different perspective, instead of them just agreeing with each other. I remember the early days of the gp's with Keith Huewen, with Wiggy, Briggo, PC and Tatum. Now THAT was a panel.

Checking my Hackney book I see he won it in 75. I was only 6 at the time so I don't really remember, although I'm sure I was there. I remember the Superama was held when the Hawks were away at fellow Friday nighters Wolverhampton and it was always a fantastic line-up. I often wondered what the Wolves management thought about it because it probably affected their gate, although I don't think we had a large away support because we lost a lot on the road!

Still the Kestrels in 87. Hackney reverted back to the Hawks in 91 for their ill-fated final (half) season.

Ole was my favourite rider as a nipper. I've still got the rosette of him I wore at the 78 world final. Although I did go off him when he purposely put Bo Petersen into the fence at the Wick a few years later..I remember an incensed Bo running the length of the track to get to him. It was only Bo and Hans Nielsen that didn't worship the ground Olsen walked on. The other Danes seemed in awe of him!
