  1. Sorry, I disagree. He has to do what he thinks will help him win more honours and make the best possible living from what might be a very short career. He has actually been a good ambassador for Speedway in this country and will be again.
  2. WTF has football got to do with it? Personally I don't like all these made-up fill-in competitions. I don't like them in the PL and I don't like them at international level. The World Cup and the GPs are enough and I support them as much as possible.
  3. To be honest I don't much care, I've watched it because it's racing, but that's all. The fact that most pairs actually consist of three riders and might well be a different three in each round, makes it a Mickey Mouse event for me.
  4. He never rides for long enough to wear one out.
  5. The rostrum and prize-giving is meant to be a celebration and Champagne is the drink of celebration. The riders don't actually have to drink it if they don't wish to. I'm actually upset that anyone suggests soft drinks.
  6. "seance"?... .. Knock three times if it's going to rain!
  7. Sorry! I don't agree, I think what we have now is the way to go. Well he's ridden there for two years, isn't that some sort of connection? I agree that he isn't going to become German (I didn't actually say that he was) but he DID make it known that he wasn't available for selection, until he changed his mind or was persuaded to.
  8. He rode after talks, previously he had declined, claiming lack of support from the British authorities (what support did he want, did he expect a rule change so he could ride at 14?). Anyway that's all in the past and hopefully he'll have a long and successful future with team GB. Riders CAN change nationality by the way.
  9. In the past he hasn't made himself available for the British team, wasn't he riding in the German championships? He rode in Germany because he was underage here, there are probably several junior riders who could step-up, but they have gone with the junior competitions here.
  10. I think one big league is the way to go, and scrap a lot of these pointless Micky Mouse competitions that the PL seems so keen on. If that doesn't happen, I wouldn't support your first idea, as good Elite League riders would be giving way to lesser riders.
  11. You can never tell what level a rider will reach but Lambert started at as high a level as anyone has. I'm always afraid that those who find professional sports all too easy, can go off the rails or lose interest, as the initial challenge fades. So far I've been very impressed with Young Lambert, I would have been even happier if he had made clear his nationality allegiance earlier. As long as his heart remains in it, he'll get to the top, with such a wonderfully supportive family and his natural ability, how can he fail?
  12. Too many tracks are only accessible to car owners, years ago it was quite common to go to Belle Vue, Sheffield, Halifax and Odsal by public transport. Some people would visit at least two of them a week by public transport (I often did at times). Two of them are closed, one was replaced by a rubbish track, which leaves Sheffield. These days the costs are too high for everyone involved but I don't think the recession will further spoil things, as wages are starting to pick up. I think the biggest problem is that the sport in this country is trying to live beyond it's means, the only real answer is to not try and compete with other countries and adopt a more insular approach. Nothing much will happen in the foreseeable future though, it'll just stumble along much as now.
  13. No! That was my point, I didn't go and I reckon quite a few others might have gone if it had looked more attractive.
  14. Good to hear that, but a few bigger names would surely have drawn a bigger crowd and more funds. Which was actually what the meeting was about.
  15. The difference here is that someone else is doing the "stealing" for you.
  16. file:///home/chronos/u-bd2c11a896a95bf1f743f5e1eb1fb7ef22f5e1f8/Downloads/notice_to_riders_180215%20(1).pdf This years clothing regulations.
  17. Better safe than sorry! :-) I hope it raises plenty of money but surely they could have got a more attractive line-up than that.
  18. It's Ben Morley! Good luck to him, I thought he looked a good prospect at Lakeside.
  19. He said a former or current FTR with no PL experience.
