Who Was Best, Louis Senior Or Louis Junior?
foamfence replied to Terry's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I would say Chris. John relied almost solely on his gating, Chris was a more complete racer. -
Poor show from Coventry and it looked bad on TV. Personally I was very disappointed when Bomber wouldn't ride, so much for his positivity! Isn't Havvy looking fat these days?
-
I don't think speculation will help him, GB supporters or his fans. Personally I was saddened by his form when he has had chances on the bigger stage but maybe it's a bit early to write him off.

It doesn't look similar at all.

Redcar V Ipswich 28- 5- 15
foamfence replied to Baldyman's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
They always leave it until the season is lost, besides better riders, you have to give the people hope. -
Exactly right. The PL doesn't actually do the job that it was meant to do, ie act as a stepping stone from NL to EL. Now that we have draft reserves and some PL teams fully staffed by foreign riders, it's relevance is even more diminished. If you like more overtaking because riders fall or are unable to cope with track conditions, then yes it can be more entertaining, but I always come away with the underlying thought that it seems to exist more as an entertainment than a sport, and in that respect it is comparable with fairgrounds and circus's.

Good riddance to the tw@, sick of reading people's excuses for him.

You have to be joking.

If that's the case, there can't be much more than 1500 there then. -

I think you also have to consider current form in general and the rider's history at this level, with that in mind I certainly wouldn't include Worrall and probably not King either.

foamfence replied to TheCookster's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
True, and they might have got a few more if Schlein hadn't kept getting under Lamberts feet. -
Good squad (to me) with two exceptions. Worrall has gone downhill over the last two seasons and King just doesn't have it at that level. Pity we couldn't have Schlein (who isn't in the Aussie squad either) and Nicholls (who seems to have seriously cut his ties somehow). It shows the weakness though, when the squad contains only two riders who are at the required level, having said that; Good luck to Rosco and the team.

Speedway World Cup Team Gb Squad
foamfence replied to Gavan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Apparently the ten man squad is to be named tomorrow. If Tai, Bomber, Schlein and Nicholls were available I would pick them as my first choice four. I would add some up and coming improving riders, I would ignore such as King and Kennett, they've had plenty of chances and never stepped up to the mark. Lambert, Garritty, Cook and a 'coming into form' Barker would also be on my list, maybe Richard Lawson and one other. If we end up with a side like in recent years, it would seem pointless to me to take riders who are already proven not to be up to it and haven't improved. Lambert must have learned a lot last weekend and would probably have scored more points if his partner hadn't kept getting under his feet. -

Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
foamfence replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
How do you know that? He might have put his contract slightly at risk but I bet if he had ridden it would all have blown over fairly quickly and the sponsors that he was due to meet, would surely understand and appreciate an international call-up and their logo's being displayed on TV. Bomber is due to ride for Coventry tonight but he still Tweeted Rosco and offered to go if he was stuck (from other sources, it seems Schlein had already been approached). -

Haha! Well as long as it's neither of them! :-) -
I'm not totally convinced by his explanation, I would think a top Pole or Dane would still have ridden, even Bomber offered to change his riding plans on Rosco's Twitter.
-
On the Speedway updates, it still has Tai, Craig and Robert at reserve.

While I would agree with that, I think it better to encourage ambition than stifle it. -
Peterborough intend to put him back in their own line-up (if he isn't injured again) http://www.peterboroughpanthers.co/news.php?extend.2459.2

Woffinden, Harris, Lambert and Cook, would be my choice, with Garrity and Lawson as standby.
