  1. Spot on, Steve. http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/speedway/redcar-bears-skipper-stuart-robson-9665641
  2. Hopefully other clubs won't build such a horrible track.
  3. I'm nearly 70, it seems I should write my memoirs, particularly in the 1960s. Most of you innocent lot would probably cream your pants reading it and I never thought it was out of the ordinary or particularly outrageous.
  4. Was he drunk? No! He simply failed a test that isn't actually a test of drunkenness (that would have to be different for everyone as everyone has a different tolerance level to alcohol). Has he done drugs? Who hasn't? Even Tai uses Snus (a banned substance in this country). Is he a sex pest? I know plenty of outwardly respectable people who've done far worse than him (have you lead a sheltered life or something)? Welcome back Darcy! Thank's for sticking with British Speedway! Go out and prove your greatness!
  5. A laser that automatically brings on the correct exclusion light and no arguments.
  6. If riders were employed and paid by a central agency and allotted a team place by them, it might just sort the problem and introduce more transparency to any dealings. Each club would then have to pay the agency a weekly fee to be included, that way you would have a fairer distribution of money. There would be bound to be grumblers and refusers but they would either take it or leave it.
  7. I think the real reason was that the Ham brothers couldn't open league racing where another track existed a few minutes away, so they waved the brown envelope at an aging promoter. When Calderdale council altered the Shay stadium to accommodate both Rugby League and Football, they did approach the Bradford promoters with an offer to be included, but it was turned down and the old track and any potential new one disappeared.
  8. I pretty much agree with everything you say. On your point about Halifax, I remember them having the best team in the country in the 60s but I agree that moving to Bradford was the beginning of the end, it was frankly boring for league racing and should have been left as the international neutral venue that it was before the Dukes moved there.
  9. I don't blame the cuts, too many tracks have had unsustainable crowds for longer than that. Sadly, the mystery to me is how so many have managed to stay open.
  10. That's true but F1 is a competition for manufacturers of cars and engines and has huge funding.
  11. Speeds will definitely increase, they do in all sports. Personally I would like to see a cap on the allowable amount of power. Slightly slower bikes would be more reliable, safer and allow more concentration on actual racing, the sport should be totally about the rider, rather than the equipment or the methods used to extract more power from it.
  12. Summers was a bargain buy wasn't he? old Havelock really saw them coming with that one.

  14. The PL seems to mainly exist to give lower grade overseas riders the chance to earn a living or gain more experience. The draft system should be set up so that NL riders get a chance in PL reserve positions and British PL riders get the same in the EL. It's ridiculous when you see PL teams composed entirely of imported riders. The only way is to make these things part of the rules, otherwise some PL promoters will carry on doing as they like, with little or no regard for the development of British riders. The EL has to be applauded for the draft system (even though it was partly done on economic grounds), I note that more and more draft riders are beating main body riders on a regular basis, so it has been beneficial.
  15. If you google 'grigory laguta speedway rider' and click on images, there are some pictures of him with an unusual looking engine but it is actually a GM with a different top.
  16. I believe PK, Bomber and Lambert are using test engines and giving opinions and testing set-ups.
  17. Looking at the comments, Philip isn't alone and Pedersen was due a bite from a weasel. Of course your word is that of God and not to be questioned!
  18. These riders know each other well, they see what goes on and meet up all over the world, you don't know what has gone on in private in the past or why Pedersen was gesticulating when he saw Hancock on the floor, it seems among riders that he has few if any friends. Other incidents involving other riders, have no bearing on this.
  19. "wrights" is that some hidden clue?
  20. Excellent track, excellent racing and no idiot shouting and embarrassing commentary.......More please!
  21. I'd have picked MJJ too. I still think the Danes will win with the Poles second and a very tight race for third with the other two.
