  1. I don't think there's much wrong with it as it is, I like the 'one big night' drama and it's a refreshing change from the other 'series' events on our screen. It was unfortunate about the weather though, there wasn't much in the way of side by side racing and the place looked two thirds empty.
  2. I think some of the clubs featured in this initial plan will be out of the equation in the next two seasons and there will likely only be enough to form one league.
  3. No but I know that you are deluded if you think they can mount any sort of serious challenge. It's the same year after year, the teams that actually compete, sign most of the riders with potential improvement and kick out anyone who doesn't measure up. Brian said that there were no riders willing to come but plenty of other sides seem to find them.
  4. It shouldn't be Mikkel Andersson as it was written ages ago that he is completing work training. It doesn't matter who it is as Redcar are out of both cup competitions and practically bottom of the league, It's actually hard to think of anyone with a racing licence who would do a worse job than Bukhave, whoever it is will have to be cheap though.
  5. They actually OWN the sport in this country. 'Independent board' would be an idea but the BSPA would still have to agree to it, construct it and fund it. Maybe you'd be better writing to a few promoters.
  6. Goallie's should have a flat cap and a Woodbine, and hang their trenchcoat in the net.
  7. It's always like that on the telly but one local on here claims their crowds are always down for televised meetings.
  8. It looks to be pretty much between Australia and Poland. With all due respect to Zach, the Brits are now severely weakened, it'll be good experience if nothing else.
  9. It seems that people here are blaming Leicester for the situation, the real blame lies with the governing body which allows Polish Speedway to do exactly what it wants. I agree that Leicester could probably have a better choice of riders if they ran on another night. Meanwhile I'd forget about Polish Speedway, allow all uk riders to ride in both leagues and if any Poles want to ride here next year it should be under OUR terms.
  10. The DTRA already run such events, they are mainly flat track bikes but I've seen grassers and quads. To be honest they don't seem to attract crowds. I remember the Mike Parker set-up in about 1960. They had solos, sidecars and speedcars, to be honest it wasn't very good and Speedway fans tend to like Speedway rather than a mix (to me it just makes it into a circus).
  11. It won't make any difference whether he rides or not, get your 5-1 rubber stamp ready.
  12. Originally the idea was that a more experienced rider could be signed as a rider/coach, there are now some teams who you wouldn't know who that was, as there are several. You get young riders in the MDL and so on, but they struggle to go beyond that because there are so few opportunities.
  13. Good luck to both Brits tonight, it would be even more fantastic if we can have three or even four in the finals, just shows how good our young riders really are.
  14. Well they made changes to wreck them when they brought in Bridger.
  15. He's been doing that since he was 14! It's more likely a case of whose face fits.
  16. I disagree, far too often he gets into a scoring position and then loses it again. He was blaming his clutches on Saturday, I very much doubt that anyone who has worked on them would believe that. He just isn't hard enough.
  17. I think a lot more than that 'caught him out.'
  18. So why have their attendances reduced by as much as two thirds at some tracks? They used to be the number one sport in Poland but these days they don't get anywhere near football.
  19. Basically some riders guaranteed their success by bribing their opponents. Particularly when a big name was in with a chance of winning the meeting, someone acting on his behalf would approach his opponents in his next heat and buy them off. Some very big names admitted to it in a newspaper expose and in subsequent video interviews. http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=77333
