  1. I think you'll find the 'council' have the whip hand.
  2. Racing in the GPs means your face fits, you belong to an under-represented country or you had a good meeting in the Challenge. In my opinion KK is past his peak and the jury is still out on whether Cook has yet reached his. Back the Brits!
  3. There was a simpler Jawa engine developed that was supposed to be used but I haven't heard anything of that or Speedway bikes fitted with motocross engines that Pete Seaton was building. Lucifer Sam has some information (posted while I wrote).
  4. Richie Worrall isn't in the Belle Vue side either.
  5. In some cases that all takes place, nothing wrong with pits visits and maybe even after event party's but while the racing is on there shouldn't be anyone but track officials, mechanics and riders in the pits, especially not ugly men dressed as skateboarders.
  6. Well the bar takings would certainly be up.
  7. I remember Joe Screen (when at Odsal) bringing a variety of parts back from Poland, they were cheap and supplied by another rider I believe, he experienced a good number of mechanical failures over following meetings and went back to the tried and trusted parts from their tried and trusted source.
  8. Promoting the sport at schools has been tried many times, at Odsal they would bring a busload of kids each week and show them the pits and the bikes and let them sit in the stand. The crowds gradually declined to a level where parading riders would embarrassingly wave to lone individuals dotted around the terracing. A big problem these days is that too many tracks can't be accessed by public transport or on foot and most of them are situated in dilapidated stadiums with third world facilities.
  9. I won't be Mr Popular for saying this but we have too many clubs that are actually lame ducks being paid for by people with seemingly a wish to dispose of their wealth. The farce situations this winter have highlighted that and done even more damage. This year's levelling of the playing field between the two leagues, looks like it would make the move to one league much easier and if two or three clubs drop out, then that is likely. Hopefully there'll be an upsurge in attendances and big time sponsors, that would certainly make things look healthier.
  10. http://speedwaygp.com/news/article/5510/magic-wont-rule-out-gtr
  11. Football is the leader, kids are brought up to play it, all the media is saturated with it and more people live within easy access of it at professional level. Imagine Wayne Rooney playing for both Man.U. and a Championship side at the same time, imagine him donning a black and white hat to take a penalty, imagine him guesting for Leicester while Vardy goes and practices in Poland. While we might love a good race, Speedway is just a circus act to most people.
  12. Or can't get to them or afford the cost.
  13. EL averages don't apply, only converted PL averages are used.
  14. I didn't say that but it must plant the seeds of doubt or suspicion. You can't prove I'm wrong and I can't prove I'm right (presumably some form of scientific testing might), so I'll leave it at that.
  15. It also proves the point that there are lots of fakes about, it's like these clowns like Arron Summers sharing links to £200 sunglasses for £15.
  16. That was on a very different set of tracks. To be honest the team looks to lack top end leadership but if they work well together they might escape the drop.
  17. Shouldn't this be in News and Discussions, he isn't just chairman of the Premiership?
  18. You don't, that's when you are in trouble.
  19. There is a new rule in place to supposedly prevent that (the searching for loopholes is ongoing as we speak!) ;-)
  20. Well it's the only chance that some people have of seeing any league Speedway, personally I'm a big fan of it and I can't see us ever getting much coverage on BBC or ITV.
