Fast Freddie And The Gtr
foamfence replied to tyler42's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It might be a big ask when they are heavily invested elsewhere and have little or no experience of the GTR. Although Doyle did very well in a couple of meetings over here on one. You do seem to see more of them as the weeks go by though and I reckon that's a good thing. -
Scalextric?

Threat To The Gp Grid Girls?
foamfence replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Yes I know, even though they and that old guy in the pits (usually dressed as a skateboarder) just add to the crass image. -
Threat To The Gp Grid Girls?
foamfence replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Personally I'd be happy to see the back of them. I think they cheapen the image, any rookie viewer looking in and seeing camera shots from under the crutch of some slapper who adopts deliberate poses, while the riders F*** about gardening and pretending to adjust things, must just think the whole thing is a bit of a circus. I should imagine some families looking in, might find the whole thing an embarrassment. Same with the pits interviews, I'd rather see someone with technical knowledge and practical experience asking the questions, rather than some bird who keeps hesitating while she listens to instructions on what to ask, in her earpiece. I certainly like girls but the novelty (in this case) has worn off. -
Autrey Could He Have Been World Champion In 1979.?
foamfence replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Years Gone By
Autrey was like quite a few other American riders, he quit young. Some had good reason to quit but there was a lot of potential not fulfilled amongst them. -
Possibly so but he was always going to represent Australia, I doubt that he'd have been in the British final unless he ditched riding as an Aussie first. Rob Branford had the option and chose the British side and Nick Morris chose Australia.

British residency, British passport and ACU licence.

Since I posted something similar on the first page of this thread, I've been bombarded by personal messages criticising my genuine question and being less than complimentary. They are obviously from the same 'person' but seemingly with a selection of identities.

You have got a great battler there, he'll do you proud.
-
That's true but not riding in the British Championship or SWC is certainly his fault.

Perks might be a doubt also, had a prang at Poole and withdrawn from meeting. -
They do have training camps.
-
Nothing to stop him coming back anyway.
-
People shouldn't slag him off personally but if he wants to make a difference to the youth setup, I don't see why he can't join in with the existing lot (as some other riders have done) and help that way, they might be more likely to take his ideas on board then, rather than just wanting to replace them with his own regime.

What is the World Games? Why has this thread been posted in the wrong section?
-
That doesn't prove that Lakeside were the fourth highest attended club, which was the original point under discussion .
-
The report says that no offence was committed, So it looks like you're right.
-
He's been let down a couple of times in Poland, even though he's done pretty well in challenge matches and open meetings.
-
I don't need to, the onus is on proof.
-
As no attendance figures are released by clubs, I would be dubious of such a claim.
-
Bitterness isn't becoming. ;-)
-
The press gave up on Speedway when several 'leading' riders admitted fixing races.
-
There are always exceptions. IOW is a bit isolated and we already have a thread running about affordable ways to actually get there. Personally, I wouldn't visit Lakeside if it were free and it wasn't exactly well supported when in the Elite League, not that I wish the club any ill, I just dislike the track.
