If it wasn't for better safety fences you would have many more serious injuries, you only had to see Leicester on Monday night. I think a rider sat on the saddle of a sliding bike and going full throttle, is less able to respond to a problem than a rider stood over the handlebars and usually not going full throttle.

Chris Holder ! :- Friend Or Foe

It must have been 'rideable' the meeting was completed. -
They were certainly something of a one man band, he was the local hero and put bums on seats but they had to pay a lot to keep him, I don't think he was short of offers from elsewhere and riding in Halifax on a Saturday added to the complications for him riding abroad on a Sunday.

I wasn't at the Joe Abbot meeting but I was local to the Odsal track and was a fan there and Belle Vue in the 1950s. Many years later I was working at a house just off Odsal roundabout and I asked the elderly occupant if he could hear the bikes, he replied that he could and that he worked at the mortuary where Joe Abbot's body was taken, he told me that Joe had many broken bones from past injuries and they obviously hadn't been allowed to properly heal. It seemed common in those days to see riders still competing with an arm in plaster or having to be helped on and off their bikes.

They still didn't need to drop him and the guy who replaced him is even worse. -

Where he was dropped? -
If he'd ridden in the SWC I would back him for the World Games but as it's little more than an open meeting I think it's a good idea to let those selected have the experience.

In the GP, I would have qualifiers only, apart from the one local wildcard. In the UK, I would have one league and only use the averages once annually. Riders absent because they were riding in overseas events would only be replaceable by a NL rider. I would like to see a more standard and cheaper to run engine.

Maybe he's launched an appeal and doesn't want to prejudice the outcome? -
Kenny Carter would be ready to race, whatever the conditions, I imagine Nigel Boocock was the same.

Leicester Lions Vs Swindon Robins 17/07/17

While there is a lot of truth in that, I also subscribe to the Kelvin Tatum theory that today's combination of tyres, silencers and engines, makes the bikes unnecessarily unpredictable and thus, too dangerous. There simply aren't enough riders able to handle differing conditions, with the equipment that they are expected to use. -

I thought it strange that they should widen the track round the inside and then prepare it so no one can actually ride there, the first few heats you should be able to ride the inside until the dirt moves out but the riders were out wide from the off. OK if you like crashes and near misses, personally I don't. -
Couldn't they sign a rider now, ready to come in after 28 days?
-
He can't, it'll be past the transfer deadline.

I agree about team identity, I think the only way to achieve it is to abandon the averages and have one big league. -
Irrespective of my SWC views, I hope Tai gets back in the medal hunt and that Craig can have confidence restored and build on his previous appearances. To be honest, if it wasn't for the Brits, I wouldn't bother watching it.
-
Chris could have scored more by being more aggressive but his sense of fair play isn't shared by many other SWC riders, it certainly made the Wolves/Rye House match worth watching though. The difference between a medal or no medal was that two riders only managed one point each and those two have done better in the past and will hopefully do better in the future, whatever regime is in charge.

Nothing new actually. He claims that Speedway is the national sport in Poland, I thought Football had more clubs and bigger crowds? I still can't understand why staying away helps his claimed desire to make Team GB SWC winners, surely he would exert more influence by joining in and that might eventually lead to him being in charge? At the moment he's creating division in every aspect of the sport, while he plays intimidation games and boasts about his wealth and personal circumstances. It is undeniable that he cares but ........

Building an arena isn't necessarily an investment, it is more than likely a speculation (Belle Vue comes to mind) and isn't comparable to bribing someone to make a few personal appearances.
-
That isn't sport though, it's just entertainment and some showmen trying to protect their investment. In that respect it isn't 'relevant' (to me anyway).

2 valve JAWA would be even better. -

I think most people already know about the clay content but other tracks eg Scunthorpe, have a very heavy usage of all kinds of track racing and produce better racing than that. There are also claims that KL isn't as good for racing as it was several years ago. -

I doubt if 99% would give a s***.
