  1. I don't think 'banning' Aussies is wanted or will happen, more likely a requirement to commit for a certain length of time. If you consider overseas riders who have been dropped due to the 'averages' game and those NL riders who have some experience at a higher level (like Rye bringing in Morley and Newcastle with Hopwood), then you would probably have enough riders to remove the need for doubling up.
  2. No, because Chris was much younger when he started as a GP rider. Good luck to Craig though (hope he proves me wrong).
  3. Sorry but that is just daydreaming, ask Cradley and Coventry fans. If you can build a stadium on a plot you can usually build something else, something that rakes in more money and which developers and financiers are more likely to invest in. Hopefully Cradley might get a new home but it's taken decades to get to the current stage. Somerset was built on the club owners land and Belle Vue will be lucky if it's financial backers ever get their full investment back.
  4. Absolutely right! I can't imagine that you'll find many (if any) who disagree with this, well done!
  5. Nigel frequently tells you how many clubs each rider has and who are guests. You need to have YOUR team and you need to see them race THEIR team, not select v select.
  6. Tonight's televised meeting from Somerset has three guests and a R/R.
  7. There are plenty of riders using them and it still has plenty of benefits over a GM. Even Freddie Lindgren says that he's not necessarily finished with them yet, when you consider his form in the early GP rounds, that's hardly surprising.
  8. I don't think it's a question of banning, more a case for some sort of contracted commitment.
  9. This was posted the other day and does have some relevance. http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=84881
  10. The answer would be to have one league. You would need to reduce averages to allow more lower end riders to fill the places and you could even reduce the teams to six riders. The current system might be very lucrative for some but it isn't credible to a newcomer and is beyond understanding to anyone outside the sport. Fans need to be able to identify better with the teams, rather than seeing Bomber riding for every team in the league.
  11. That could be true but in other cases where the fine wasn't paid the suspension continued, then again, the fine might have already been paid.
  12. There is no excuse for violence and in some cases it reflects a deeper issue that is in need of attention. This prides itself on being a family sport.
  13. However long the suspension ends up being, it doesn't start until the fine has been paid (£3000).
  14. It used to be quite common for a team to do a full season with the same seven riders, fans could often reel off any other teams 1-7, these days that seems to be becoming a rarity.
  15. Good meeting, pity the stadium was less than half full.
  16. So where are you going to site these tracks and the get the finance to buy the land and develop it? Most current tracks are in rented and shared arenas with little or no scope for alteration. You certainly could standardise machinery, you don't have to follow the herd.
  17. The fact is that the majority of tracks can't be significantly changed or replaced, so the only answer is to change the bikes. Slower bikes with better tyres would be safer. The silencers are another thing that needs looking at, they are better than a few years ago but there's still room for improvement. The sport here seems that it would rather go bankrupt than introduce radical changes to reduce costs and aid safety, all to allow riders to use the same equipment as GP riders and those who ride in wealthier leagues. If we are going to continue with a two league set-up, maybe the top league could continue as now and the lower one introduce something different, safer and cheaper? Personally I'd prefer to see us going for a cheaper and safer option, even though it will upset some riders and possibly drive some away initially.
  18. Are you really this short of something to do?
  19. But why then did Cook mention it himself?
