  1. The Premiership doesn't race on Tuesdays or Sundays, so in that respect it's already making as many concessions as Poland and Sweden, except that they are gradually moving the goalposts, so who is to say that they wont hijack whatever fixed race night is imposed? Your mention of a "weak argument" isn't weak at all, to those who support it.
  2. There are some clubs in the top tier who don't want that, there might even be some who can't actually have access to their tracks on the selected night. There are other riders available from abroad and from the NL, that might mean a reduction in the averages but it does mean that it would be possible to eliminate doubling up between the top two tiers. Some say that the riders couldn't make a living but there ARE riders who do so in one league and there ARE riders who still work. Personally I would prefer one big league and no guests (other than from the NL) for riders absent because they're riding or practising elsewhere, some promoters might grumble but it would make them thing twice about overseas signings who think of this country as nothing more than a stepping stone.
  3. The problem still occurs when fixtures have to be re-planned due to rain-offs etc. If the clubs don't want or can't have fixed race nights, they shouldn't be forced.
  4. At the side of Speedway, synchronised farting and cowpat throwing are major sports.
  5. There could be all sorts of factors involved, the majority opinion on here seems to be against the current levels of doubling up but not everyone going through the turnstiles is on here. I personally know people who don't currently attend because of doubling up and some of the rules in place.
  6. That has always been the case and many a good prospect has quit before achieving their potential because of financial struggles. F2 or any cheaper and simpler engines would help, even though it might be hard on some to change, the eventual savings would make it more worthwhile.
  7. Do they? There have been some fairly poor crowds at some GPs in the last two years. Cardiff seemed to do well this year but some years it hasn't looked as full.
  8. Well I've read several times that crowds in general are up.
  9. I thought crowds were supposed to be up this year?
  10. I would guess Swedish, with the initials JA.
  11. Especially when you consider the state of some of the tracks, the need for extra equipment and the likely pay rates.
  12. I agree to a point, the top eight and selected wildcards can be a bit of a closed shop. It seems that people assume that a rider with brilliant league form has some sort of right to be a GP rider. How about top ten and five qualifiers? This year was supposed to have the strongest line-up ever but the distance between top and bottom is still quite wide.
  13. Bates has had some league racing in Poland, as has Adam Ellis. Both were world under 21 finalists last year, Ellis seems to ride abroad as much as he does here. They might not be world beaters but they are progressing.
  14. Well the boy done well! eleven points, fourth place and one of those above is Dudek, so he'll likely be promoted from first reserve to qualifier. Lets all cheer for Dudek!
  15. Brilliant stuff! well done Craig! This brings back the feel good factor.
  16. I prefer not to read it again because it isn't legible, I'll leave it at that.
  17. I doubt anyone would be left out if you eliminated doubling up.
  18. While you can never fully predict what level any rider will ultimately reach, I share your confidence that at least some of that lot will be our stars of the future.
  19. Well it's taken Cradley a few decades but there might just be a glimmer of light at the end of their particular tunnel, so good luck to the Bulldogs http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=84690
  20. I would rather that than doubling up. Besides NL riders there are still others abroad who might welcome the chance of extra racing (Poole found one easily enough), there are two or three Americans keen to try over here and they haven't looked bad in the SWC. I think the six rider, five rides each format would be OK. I remember it being used about twenty odd years ago.
  21. Whatever happens about race nights, there is still far too much doubling up anyway and restricting race nights might well allow that to continue. Six man teams and less double uppers is needed.
  22. He should be for the chop, along with the five or six riders that Matt intends to dump, he's only any good if he has a winning side, this year has shown him up, he might be the local hero but he's had his day.
