Statistics probably prove that but Briggo remained great in the Mauger era, which was (to me) more professional and with more world class riders, whereas Ove was long gone. It's difficult anyway to compare different eras, how can we compare Rickarsson to the others, when he didn't race them but did race different riders on different tracks.
-
From what I saw, Briggo was the better racer, in fact I would consider him the best racer on the list, I still remember him in the many League Riders Championships at Belle Vue and some impressive performances at Wembley, in both World Finals and World Cups.

It's a good job if he is, you wont get much out of Clegg.

Mauger, Briggs, Rickardsson, Fundin, Olsen. I personally would have considered Craven and Moore but one had his career cut short and the other missed six seasons while in his prime.

That looks a very good team.

Tungate isn't eligible.

I think it depends on what levels they've reached elsewhere.

He didn't say "supplying" and it's well known that he was attracted to Glasgow by their offer. Even Brian Havelock said he didn't blame him, after seeing the offer. Brian of course made his own dosh pile out of the transfer.

We had some good riders last year, it seems that with the exception of Ben they've all gone elsewhere.
-
You're probably right, it looks like we're back to the factory floor sweepings days of BH. Who next, Konopka?
-
Except when the Richie arrives and he locks himself in the lavatory. He hasn't lived up to his promise in any way, having him back would hardly be inspiring.
-
Best hope for a dry summer then.

All of the ideas mentioned here have been tried, they might have had some success at some clubs but in the main they made no difference. Despite people constantly criticising promoters on various threads, most are successful business people and many have invested a great deal of money in the sport. If you only had the clubs that break even from gate receipts, you'd be down to a handful, that might sound like rock bottom but it would be sounder than the current "are we running next year or not?" situation that seems to blight so many clubs. It's now apparent that fixed race nights haven't really attracted the big names, because they were being paid for by the TV rights and they look to have gone. I think that instead of having big ideas about big names, we should concentrate on having a set-up that is financially viable, if that means part-time riders and meetings clustered around weekends, so be it, at least we wouldn't have the uncertainty.

Hope not! Three pointer and well over thirty.

Up to this season neither could double down, the situation was lapsed for just this season. Chris (and others) took advantage and established themselves a Championship average, Scott didn't, even though it's rumoured that a club actually offered him a place. Personally I think British riders should be allowed to double up, whatever their average but I'd stop overseas riders being given that privilege.

Kus at Redcar? Hope not!

Wolves has already said that the lack of a TV deal has ruled out Lindgren.

Kyle Newman uses one.

It looks in a better state than some places that ARE running, it'd be a great boost to Speedway in this country if it re-opened.

Why will Brexit change things, at worst, European riders might need a visa or work permit, they wont be banned.
-
Exactly! Doubling up should be for Brits only.
-
There must be some British based riders who could attend. Your closing remark is what I might expect from a brown noser.
-
That would depend on the line-up but as you say, we all have our opinions.

Personally I think it's a childish gimmick. If they announced the team now and then said "come along and meet them and maybe have a question time," I think that would draw just as many to the social. Then again, if it's a rubbish (Havelock type) side, maybe they ARE doing the right thing.
