Elite League Draft Riders
foamfence replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That's a rather nasty post. Lambert and Smart were chosen by their respective promoters in preference to other riders on the list, as far as I know Berwick intended having Paul Starke back this year but he wanted (and found) a spot nearer home. It's in everyone's interest to have the Draft riders do well and encourage them. -

The riders who look like they might get somewhere at international level have made it into EL 1-5s or are on the draft list. I think some people don't see reality because of emotion or something. There WILL be opportunities as people drop out of team line-ups for one reason or another, it's up to riders to put themselves at the top of the list. -

Auty hasn't improved much to me, Roynon (however unfortunately)has spent so much time on the sick, he needs to start again and re-establish himself. Is Birks 100% fit? Good luck to the three anyway. -
Not that I know of, but Philip did say there might be a few late notifications which were too late for the printed version.

I have used it from day one, I like it, it's easy to navigate and read and you can go back a few previous issues if you want. I use it on my PC though and haven't tried it on anything else.

At home maybe.

It's a solid looking line-up. Lawson is a brilliant capture and Crang is a great prospect. None of the other five have exactly been moving up much in recent seasons. I think I would have left Wilko out, he falls off far too often and turns up with substandard equipment at times. Good luck to the Bears though, probably a mid-table side.... Prove me wrong! :-)

Well done Bomber! Two Brits in the GP! Great stuff! They BOTH have my full support. -
Any help is better than none! What you describe can happen to any rider in any league. Anyway I won't argue the point, I'm too sickened off with all the negative attitudes on here.

At some clubs there will be some loan equipment in the offing, It's obviously in the clubs interest to try and get the best from their reserves.

It has been written in Speedway Star over the last fortnight. -
Hope he doesn't clear off mid-season like he has done with two of his other clubs.

It's supposed to be someone from the list, which is extended to 30 names, anyone who would have been on the original first pick list can only replace a first pick rider. So you can't fiddle it (even if you are Poole). -

They are mostly competing against each other, apart from second strings who are likely to be 3,4 or 5 point riders themselves. -

That's not true, the list is being extended to 30. No he's going straight into the 1-5. -
Durex and those L Ron Hubbard books (Dianetics or something).

I read somewhere that there are enough unattached riders to staff the extra teams that are likely to come in this coming season, so it hardly matters.

Well Leicester certainly copped for the lemon. -
British Speedway Promoters Meeting

All right then call me a liar! The results MIGHT speak for themselves.... Then again. Yes but the Bulls went bankrupt! Bradford was just an example, there are others and the majority of tracks aren't in the centre of a town or city by the way, too many of them can't even be reached by public transport. -

These things are always worth a try but many have tried them before. I remember at Bradford they would have representatives at all the major functions (including riders and bikes), they visited schools and hospitals and each week a large group of school kids would come along for free and be shown round everything. Bradford had the best team in the country and won piles of silver wear over several years, the local newspaper gave great coverage, often the bulk of the back page complete with photographs. By the time it closed the crowds were so small it was embarrassing. The stockcars meanwhile, staged only a few meetings a year, had very little publicity and got much bigger crowds. There is so much choice for people's leisure time now. As you suggested, it might be worth a try, who knows? -

The list is to be increased to 30 names. so that should provide enough long or short term replacements. Some riders turned down the offer because of work and other commitments. -

It means if they pick him, that is their round one choice over. In round 2 the team with the lowest ranked round one rider gets first choice, so Poole will be last or near last choice from round 2. This might help. http://www.speedwaygb.co.uk/index.html
