In it it mentions 5/- Tickets for the Stand accomodation for the TEST MATCH AT POOLE BETWEEN ENGLAND AND AUSTRALASIA to be held on Wednesday, August 13th, are now on SAle at the Kiosk outside the ground and in view of limited stand accomodation I am giving this early oportunity to Poole patrons to make certain of their usual seats - make sure you book yours to-night. Above that is an advert for W.M. Samson (printers) LTD 128 Ashley Road Parkstone. Poole Dorset Phone . . Parkstone 909 * printers of this Programme (suggest you don't try ringing them on this number) Ken Middleditch advertised his Fish and Chip Shop And David Lanning, of the Poole and Dorset Herald. wrote an article in there. 15. Races were all over by the first bend, only two races where riders changed postions. I wouldn't go to watch it every week. Was a good spectacle with the veterans display and should improve next year with more spectators from overseas coming. The War and Sars apparenting affected numbers. Good to see a few old faces there, people I hadn't seen for twenty years or so.
  16. found this on a site about the english hangmen Assistant executioners. There were many more names on the Home Office list of approved executioners over the period covered but they only acted as assistants and are, thus, not always recorded. Amongst the better known of these was Sid Dernley who assisted at 25 executions between 1949 and 1954 and also wrote a book called "The Hangman's Tale" detailing his experiences. Sid Dernley died in 1996.
  17. Try contacting the speedway researcher, Jim Henry is co editor.

Yes thanks Norbold. I dont know if I should carry this on here either, dont know what the rules are nowadays. Banked your cheque yesterday, I'll advertise your books in the next issue. That will be the 3rd issue as the second one I'm running out of room, I'm up to 36 pages. If I start this as a new subject to see if there's any interest should I be in Years gone by or speedway discussions?
  19. Spoke to my dad today and he says Tyburn Gallows, came home from his mums funeral and sat down on the chair and died in the chair age 51.

Yes I'm fine only looked at the forum a couple of times this year and couldn't find anything new to comment on. I've started a new magazine up, similar to vintage speedway magazine I suppose, only focusing on NZ riders so thats taken up most of my spare time. I've also joined our local Speedway Riders Club, and after questioning the flag marshalls efforts find myself as the new Track Steward for this coming season. So I'm off to a seminar this weekend to learn a bit more. I'm up to date with the SGP as we get a video sent to us the week following the event. I find I'm cheering on Scott Nicholls more and more. So there you go. If you want a magazine subscription, 10 pounds a year, 6 issues. Norbold has one. Ask what he thinks of it.I haven't asked him myself yet. Email me at robnade@ihug.co.nz if your interested.

Have you read the new Ken Le Breton book by Jon Jon White used to be on here as jean le blanc. Got my copy sent to me yesterday.Very well written. One of the best speedway books I have read. Tempus books and Robert Bamford have it.
  22. We always had six in a race in NZ in the 60s and 70s both handicap and gate starts. Dad was off 120yds in those days. In the Sixties we didnt have starting gates just a big Rubber band.
