Yes yes I got it wrong and thought Lawson was riding for Sheffield. Fairly easy mistake as the Sheffield fans have been left without a clue about injuries to Franc and Sanchez many times this year. Tigers pre race statement says we're back to full strength and Gjedde to return for Rye. With the weather looking sunny at this point and no rain predicted, I'm going to say I fancy the Tigers will win with there biggest score of the season.(Neck on the line).

Well Mark I've already had my opinion for next seasons team. But it does seem more and more likely that Ricky Ashworth will return to Berwick and my second choice of Auty will probably be back at Scunny. And I expect if Glasgow survive(hope they do) that they could possibly keep Morris being there asset. I may need to pick a new number 1 for my choice team so.... 1 Ashworth/Auty/Morris/Bach/Lawson 2 Palm Toft//Birks/Bellego/R.Worrall 3 Bjerre/Summers/Masters/Doolan/Lanham 4 Skiddy 5 Wells 6 Haines 7 Sarjeant Same as my previous picks, starting with first choices. Being realistic, if Worky keep going(hope they do) I doubt they could fit Lawson and Bach in so we'll have which ever they don't have. As for the disappointment's of this year. I'd like to see some changes next year. None of the throwing the dummy out over lost riders like the Auty/Birks tantrum. Keep the fans and riders more up to date with team building not leaving riders hanging on Ashworth/Lambert. Get Hoggy back on the presenting, he builds more atmosphere. Keep the fans informed with injuries and estimates of when riders will return as we heard nothing for weeks about Sanchez and Pepe. Stop charging for kids under 16 with paying adults to allow family's to continue coming. Do some promoting before and through the season. Take a number 8 if riding away with R/R. And most of all get a competent manager to run the team as this season several times over showed the Hinchcliff/Hoggy double act just didn't work!!!!

I'm bothered!! With only a few meetings available for me to visit before the season ends, I'm keen to see as much as possible before the I have to fill my time with idiots bickering on here and the sound of silence from the Sheffield promotion on team building. Also the thought of a meeting involving Doyle and Lawson would surely excite any British Speedway fans as they are some of the most exciting riders lining up on the premier league. A lot of people don't relise what they've got till its gone!!!

I would think if Stead chooses to double up next year Sheffield will be one of his top choices what with him being a local lad. And the amount of times he's been in or around the pits this season. Although I personally would like to see nine and a half points used on someone else as I don't think he will be as strong a number one as several are hoping. We may not get Palm Toft, and I'd like to keep Skiddy at Sheffield. But I doubt Skiddy will be very high on Scunnys list as they are already going to struggle to fit Auty, Howe, Jorgensen, Arnio, Palm Toft, Birks, Irving, Neilsen and the Two Worralls into a team of 7. Also, when I visited earlier this season Rob G mentioned the prospect of an exciting capture for the club the following season if it was to happen. I also fancy Masters might be keen as Scunny did there best to sign him when he was dropped. So as I've mentioned before we here to help if you need to loan a few out!

Is Speedway Too Expensive Now ?
Friddy75 replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I personally don't think speedway is to expensive. You can't compare speedway to football, and I certainly don't think it's just 15min of racing we're paying for. With football you watch 45mins twice over with time to go to the toilet between. Speedway for me is about the whole event of the night. Me and my old man arrive early to have a wander round the pits, listen and smell the bikes. We talk about things we've read or heard that week, we look for faces round the pits who we might know other than the riders. We then make our way to where we stand, turning our attention to our race card. We predict the R/R, the reserve changes etc, then we watch the parade and the warm up all building the anticipation. We try to guess any tactical rides and between races we discuss what's been going on. Around heat ten we predict the final score. If there's any second half, development or practise we watch that. For us this could be up to 3 hours for £14+£2 parking. You don't do this at football, you go to your seat, watch the match then you go home, and you don't get involved like you do with speedway. If you don't want to see tractors or gardening then don't go! It's part of speedway. I agree their needs to be changes to better the sport and keep it going I don't think you can add the price of petrol and the cost of food on to the price as it would cost petrol money to go to any sport. And you can always eat before and after. Their are also ways to save money on race cards by making your own. -
Does anyone know what sort of average Simon Stead would come down to the league on? I see a lot have selected him as a choice to lead the Tigers next season but I just don't see why, he's dropped to reserve at Swindon this year and still isn't scoring to well. He's been getting beaten by doubling up riders with averages a lot lower than his. Doyle and Morris are in the main body and score better, won't their averages be about the same? Although I called for Lambert to replace Schramm when he was struggling and I didn't understand why he wasn't in the team this season after being one of our most consistent in 2011, he isn't someone I'd consider. Hasn't scored well in the main body at two clubs this year, doesn't look like he is going to get any better than a reserve at prem level. Surely better to give a young 3 point local lad like Sarjeant a chance, he could be a trump card! As for Chris Schramm, I agree he puts in so much effort and I enjoy watching the lad ride. And I don't know many more that have had as much bad luck as him but.....every rider that lines up at the tapes tries. But at the end of next season when we've been saying 'Schrammy tries hard but scores naff all every week' arn't we going to regret picking a team with the heart and not the brain?? As for picking Scunthorpe assets, we'll be doing you a favour. Unless your having a 15 man team next year or wanting several riders to take a year out your gonna have to loan out some riders, we're just here to help hahaha!

Forgot to mention James Sarjeant is a Sheffield lad. So gives us someone local to support.

Thought I'd start a thread for next season as a lot are starting from other teams and the Sheffield faithful seem very quiet. I'd like to see 1 Ricky Ashworth 2 M Palm Toft 3 Bjerre 4 Skiddy 5 Wells 6 Haines 7 Sarjent Ashworth's year away has proved to the people who doubted him that he is a true number 1. But I feel he has enjoyed it at Berwick this season and probably would like to stay there, if so Auty if he fancied a return because he's worth the entry fee alone or Nick Morris would be my other choice. 2 Palm Toft goes well round Sheffield and is becoming another Auty with exciting over takes and never gives up. If not Richie Worrall or Bellego. 3 Bjerre again goes well round Sheffield and a true heat leader who should challenge for the no 1 jacket and would score well away. If not any from Summers, Alden, Doolan, Masters all would score good home and away. 4 Skiddy has ridden as a heat leader for most of this season and although he has the occasional bad meeting he is still very young. Instead of waiting for him to become a heat leader, running at 4 could make him step up. 5 Ricky Wells took a while to get going but is a real heat leader and is only just 21. Has provided some of the most exciting speedway at Sheffield this season and scores well away. Can only get better. 6 Joe Haines after watching him at the start of the season I didn't think he was gonna be very good, how he proved me wrong. By far Sheffield rider of the year. Massive scores at home and some good scores away. 7 James Sarjent I know he has had a few Premier rides and hasn't scored to well but at the under 19 Championship his use of the track was amazing for such a young lad. Put him in the team and give him the back up from the older riders and make him feel like a part of the team and he should easily add to his average. Young exciting team, with plenty that can entertain and score home and away. With Joe and Toft averages not to far apart they could spend the season swapping between reserve and the no 2 spot. At current averages this team fits
