  1. It’s gonna be a loooong trip for me to watch a meeting or two ( travel restrictions permitting)
  2. When they were introduced I was riding grasstrack and longtrack throughout Europe ( albeit on a sidecar) but I would mix with riders every weekend throughout the season. I can only go on what they told me.
  3. because a majority of riders found them easier to ride than uprights
  4. So no Asians go to football matches then ?
  5. If that’s the case you have to ask what British speedway has done in the last 40+ years to target them as a potential audience ?
  6. Using that argument won’t switching to upright make it more expensive as all the lay down engines / frames will become obsolete as everyone has to buy uprights? also second hand kit will become worthless so anyone starting up would have to shell out a fortune as only new stuff would be available
  7. I give it till tomorrow before the “ the bikes are too fast nowadays/ there’s no skill involved in riding them (even though most of the critics wouldn’t even know how to start a bike), let’s go back to uprights/ black leathers and bibs/ proper cinders on the tracks/ eeeeeee I saw Tommy ( the mad wellie) Wilkinshaw in 1952 and he used to ride with a rusty Brillo pad on his helmet” brigade come and tell you that’s what’s needed.
  8. Bearing in mind that laydowns have been used for about 30 years then they should sort the damned tracks out then.
  9. Even if the carnet does last a year it’s still a ball ache, I know riders have ridden abroad before... I was one of them. Every bike frame / engine number had to be on the corner with long waits at the border etc.... I’ve also been the organizer when you get a call on Friday morning saying ‘can you race on Sunday in Germany’ , just organizing ferry’s/ tunnels, time off work, bike prep etc is hard enough with having to add the “fun” of customs to it all. still... blue passports eh?
  10. Popped on this thread to have a look just off to get myself a new tin foil hat ... jeez there’s some loony’s about.
  11. With checks now having to be made as the UK has third country status in terms of the EU. Will that mean that riders will have to go back to the old days of getting a carnet stamped before crossing into Europe ? I can remember long waits at the customs having every frame / engine number checked etc. will this need to be tested / looked into before the start of an already delayed season to make sure that no riders are stuck at ports ?
  12. Last seasons end of year test against Denmark was the kind of thing team GB needs. Proper international tests both home and away where all 7 riders get rides
  13. That’s about right, a mixture of youth and experience. Good call.
  14. No one in speedway is really surprised that “pikey Jase” is in jail. The biggest surprise is that it took so long one less druggy to have to lookout for
  15. All levels from “Grass roots” eh? I look forward to well known sponsors putting together a financial package to help British riders compete with the high spending foreign riders / teams / leagues. I won’t hold my breath.
  16. British speedway fans ..... ‘ why isn’t speedway moving with the times ?’ BSPA ....ok. ( during a worldwide pandemic) Here’s a livestream for the British final’ fans ..... bloody hell £13 !!!! Too dear... streaming ? I don’t have WiFi,.... I miss the smell.... I want greasy burger and chips.... BSPA... look. There’s people dying , this is the best we can do in the current situation. fans .... No way that’s it I’m done
  17. Anyone returning from abroad for this meeting would have to do 14 days quarantine.... hardly worth it for one meeting, especially if it means missing meetings abroad for it. I’m sorry but this year’s British champ will have a hollow ring to it. I know you can only race what’s in front of you but .... bloody hell, look what’s in front of you. Stop trying to big it up, accept that 2020 is exceptional and call it the British open. Anyone looking back in years to come will say “ahh. It was the covid year” not a true image of the talent that the uk has at the moment. I admire the authorities and Ipswich for putting this but please accept it for what it is .... Not a British final.
  18. His last meeting last year was the GB / Denmark test. He scored 10, apart from a couple of French league meetings, ( admittedly not very strong although he beat Bomber a few times ) he’s only raced three meetings in the last 10 days, scoring 15, 10+1 & 13+1. And more meetings this Friday and next Tuesday I know he’s my son and therefore I’m biased but who else would you put in who’s getting regular competitive racing at the moment bearing in mind the meeting’s in 10 days time ?
  19. 13+1 in his first ever Swedish league match ....
